I am embarking once again on the weeks- or months-long process of setting up my Skyrim mods. So far, I've completed Part 0 and the game still runs after some troubleshooting.

Last year I put so much into setting it up but was so burnt out by the end that I didn't want to play it. Then the game updated and broke everything. T__T

Here's hoping it goes better this time.

Okay, I’m really enjoying Merlin, but it kinda feels like watching Dora the Explorer.  Every episode follows the same patterns and nobody learns anything.  They don’t even notice that they’re saying the same stuff every day.  This show needed a grown-up on the writing team.

merlin tropes

Merlin: Dragon, I need help. Should I give Arthur a skateboard or a bicycle?

Dragon: You have to figure it out for yourself.

Merlin: (Buys Arthur a skateboard.)

(Everything goes bad.)

Dragon: There was a prophecy that if Arthur got a skateboard he'd turn into a dirty dirty skater boy.

Merlin: And you didn't tell me this earlier because...? Now the entire castle of Camelot is a skate park.

Literally anyone: Trust me. I've literally never been wrong before.

Literally anyone else: No.

Uther: Magic bad!

Uther: Please fix all my kingdom's problems.

Merlin and Gaius: (Secretly use magic to fix all his kingdom's problems.)

Uther: And we did it all without magic! Hah! Magic bad!

Dragon or Gaius: Whatever the cost!

Merlin: Okay. (Gets it done whatever the cost.)

Dragon: Not THAT cost, dummy! We're all doomed!

Merlin: Literally just doing what you told me to do.

Literally anyone: (Goes anywhere, does anything.)

Merlin, who has a full-time job: (Spies on them with the stealth of an actual rogue.)

Merlin: I could save hundreds of lives by just telling Arthur I'm a wizard.

Gaius: NO. NEVER.

Literally anyone: A bad thing happened and I'm like 100% sure it's magic.

Gaius: Nope. Definitely not.

(Things get real bad.)

Gaius: I've gotta tell you a secret... It's magic.

The person: It can't be magic.

Gaius: No yeah it's magic.

Knights: We encountered a magic creature and it killed one of our friends. We can't beat it with swords.

Uther: Arthur, go take the knights to try again.

Gaius: It's magic. You're literally all gonna die.

Uther: Fake news!

Arthur: It's my duty. Let's go, boys.

(A bunch of knights die and Arthur is badly injured.)

(Literally nobody cares that the knights died. They're super disposable.)

Uther: The heck? Magic? Dangit, why did nobody tell me?

Merlin: (Uses magic blatantly in front of everybody on a daily basis. Outright admits to being a sorcerer.)

Arthur: (Yao Ming laughing meme face.) Merlin? A sorcerer? Yeah, right.

Literally anyone: (Is in prison.)

A main character: (Slips them a key.)

Merlin: I’m gonna take Arthur some crackers.

Gaius: Merlin, he must not eat those crackers.

Merlin: Why not?

Gaius: Can’t tell you.

Merlin: Okay, then it probably isn’t important. Look, if you’re saving them for your afternoon snack, I can buy you more.

Morgana: I had a bad dream that Arthur died of eating poisoned crackers.

Gaius: You're delusional. I ain't never heard of no poison animal crackers never.

Merlin: (Gives the crackers to Arthur.)

Arthur: Merlin, you’re dumb. You’re a big stupid dummy and also my best friend. (Eats the crackers.) (Foams at the mouth.)

Uther: THE SORCERER WHO DID THIS IS GONNA DIE.

Gaius: MERLIN, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?! Those crackers were poisoned!

Merlin: Why the heck didn’t you tell me?

Gaius: I’m sorry! I’ll never keep things from you again~! I pwomise!

Merlin: You have a cure, right?

Gaius: No.

Merlin: ... You realize this is your fault.

Gaius: I’m sooo sorry.

Merlin: So what am I supposed to do? I’d rather not die.

Gaius: Nobody can fix it. We’re all doomed.

Merlin: wtf? Well now I’m sad.

Gaius: There is... one way...

Merlin: ... Yeah, take your time. No rush.

Gaius: You must ask the Great Dragon. He knows the cure.

Merlin: You could have mentioned that sooner.

Merlin: Great Dragon, I need your help. I accidentally poisoned Arthur with some crackers.

Dragon: Hah, that’s pretty funny.

Merlin: It’s really not.

Dragon: Sure, sure, but like it’s still kinda a little funny. Camelot is legit doomed and it’s completely your fault.

Merlin: ... Either you help me or I, a novice wizard, will threaten you.

Dragon: You’re scary when you get mad. Fine. Go on a month-long voyage to find a magic feather and tickle Arthur’s chin with it. But you only have until sunset tomorrow.

Merlin: That’s literally impossible.

Dragon: The episode’s only 45 minutes. Just montage it.

Merlin: (Montages it.)

Gaius: Uther, we know how to cure Arthur. Just wait a few hours and it'll all be cool.

Uther: I don't believe you. I'm gonna kill some people who look vaguely magical.

Gaius: You've known me for decades and I'm pretty much your only friend. Besides that, every time you don't trust me, stuff goes real bad. Shouldn't you trust me by now?

Uther: Nope.

Gaius: Cool.

Merlin: (Gives Arthur the cure.)

Arthur: (Wakes up.)

Uther: I was wrong about everything! I'll be better next time I pwomise.

Arthur: Merlin, you’re a stupid stinky bum. Muck out my stables.
