but the whole point of the book is that he's a person not an object or a piece of art
im not even the type of guy to go "actually it's frankenstein's MONSTER" because a painting by rembrandt or picasso or any other artist is often called "a rembrandt" or "a picasso" as shorthand. so in this respect frankenstein's monster can be considered "a frankenstein"

Can't express how stress free being open minded is.
Some lesbians use he/him? Oh cool.
Some people have people inside their head and sometimes it's fictional chars? Sick your brains like a pirate ship they're all working to run.
Some people like being treated like a pet dog? Bark bark bro.
Being fat isn't unhealthy but a perfectly normal type of body to have? Kinda beautiful how different we can all be.
Something doesn't make any fucking sense? Cool an opportunity to learn. And even if I can't figure it out it's cool we still have mysteries today.

i know the cliche is that men are always thinking with their wrong head but unironically the most dangerous threat to human society is ovulating women. girlllllllllll i turn into an actual animal, and im one of the least down bad of my friends. lysistrata ruins the immersion bc after two weeks at least 1/3 of the group would have lost their minds

I'm so happy kathryn hunter has been bringing her immense talent to tv and movies the past few years. I never would have known about her otherwise, but her last 3 years of filmography is more impressive than most a-list actors' entire body of work
#kathryn hunter#not that it's a competition#but it's like watching faker or connor mcdavid or jacob collier or any other legend in their field#the visible talent just blows you away

Watched Poor Things. Not much of a movie buff or particularly skilled at media analysis, but I am frustrated by it so I will say that I'm disconcerted about how the reviews I've seen on Letterboxd and the reactors I've watched on youtube only focus on how Bella becomes human while ignoring the whole message about generational trauma.
Cogently: The film is more about the influence of generational trauma on the human condition than anything else, and just because God and the mistress said things are one way does not make it so. And that is the whole point Lanthimos is making (or the author of the original book, which I haven't read so can't comment on)
#poor things#poor things spoilers#my spicier take is that bella should have suffered an irreparable injury to make the story and message more realistic#but it's a masterpiece even without something that overt being included

This kinda sucks because it would've been such a great competition this year if the EBU had just barred Israel from competing. Now I have a bad taste in my mouth even though a great song won and a bunch of great songs rated highly. (Except Spain, rip reina you deserved way better)

The most jarring part of watching israeli genocide supporters on various social media platforms is how gleeful they are to be murdering and torturing an entire country. People talk of the banality of evil but this isn't even that. I feel like im in a black mirror episode or something

bladerunner 2049 ending kinda givin me the "queer person raised after the deaths of the elder queer generation who realizes to late that they'll never be able to live a full fulfilling life as fully themselves due to circumstances beyond their control and yet is able to find final catharsis in knowing they played a small part in building a world where no one has to miss out on their life like they, and the generations that came before them, did"

In my mind the Mander River and the Danube are basically the same size. And what happened to Bobby B was he was this military-minded guy set up to basically be king of France, and then the Emperor of Europe was like "I want this guy brought to me to be executed" and then this guy, his friend, and his adoptive father rallied France, Poland, Russia, Scandinavia, The Netherlands, Belgium, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Ukraine, and Belarus together to fight the rest of Europe minus Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg. Then at the age of 19, this same guy who was going to rule a single (albeit large) country was told "Ok. You're now the Emperor of All of Europe plus like Morocco." and he was just out of his depth. Then he had to live in London for the rest of his life. And subsequently turned to alcoholism. Also his wife cheated on him with her brother, who was also the Crown Prince of Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein. I feel like, scopewise, a lot of ASOIAF works don't treat Westeros as all that large, but if you look at a map of Planetos, Westeros is far and away the largest empire in the world. Like the North itself is larger than the entire empire of Yi-Ti. I love works that don't treat Bobby B as a complete bozo, and actually turn the craftiness, resourcefulness, and scope of King's Landing and its inhabitants to 11.
