Rainy day today and a bit of a preview of how researching my thesis is going… I have a potluck with my department for lunch and volunteering at the hospital this afternoon but otherwise just on that research grind.

Today’s goals:

Get fruit plate for potluck

Continue thesis research (at least 3 hours)

Volunteering

Drink water (1/3)

💻 work: — 🎓 university: completed 3 tasks on the introductory "it" and "there" 💬 korean: learnt 7 words 📖 reading: continued empire of the ants by bernard werber 🤍 self-care: brushed my teeth twice; took all my medication; tried to eat well

today is my first proper day in hospital! i'm very very sleepy so i spent most of the time here in bed. i'm either reading or sleeping (maybe my new dose of medication is to blame) and i'm really looking forward to meeting new people once i'm out of this boring isolation... the nurse said today that the other patients were very sweet and funny girls.

i need to finish my analysis for the practise course asap but i'm not sure whether it'll be done till its deadline... maybe tomorrow i'll try not to forget about it!

2024.04.21: The second block of classes just ended. Autumn is uncharecteristically hot. It feels like the end of everything.

This past week I had two assignments to complete. I'm happy to report that they're done! But I'll have to wait and see if my tutors think they're any good...

Now I don't have anything due for a few weeks, so my motivation to do anything productive has declined significantly. I just want to play Sims 4 and read my book! I also have a holiday to plan and book - my boyfriend and I are going to Scotland in November (we're going to freeze, I know).

Anyone Scottish, or who's been to Scotland, I would love to hear your experiences there or any advice you have. I'm super excited, but nervous too.

Still hasn't covered much of the syllabus, but will get through it.

The week started in a very stressful way, so much so that I decided to skip class today. Yesterday was really too much for me with my commute and everything, and at the end of the day I am not missing anything too important with today's lecture. I took this as a way to start working for my English lit exam. I realized I had a pretty big block with it, I just couldn't bring myself to do stuff for this exam because it makes me very nervous (especially writing a paper for it). I decided to start with easy approachable tasks in order to get started and so far it's working. My paper will be on The Merchant Of Venice, which means that I need to reread the play and annotate the useful passages, but before I do that I wanted to write in pen all the annotations I originally wrote in pencil. So this was my main task of the day. Tomorrow I will start my first reread of the play, and once I am done with that I will plan the next move. I feel like this is the best way for me to approach a task that scares me. Just break it down in much smaller tasks and start on the easier ones.
