Scrolling through IG, you probably see transformation photos on the daily. Without considering this is my transformation, just one of a girl, these are the facts: - The girl on the left is 17. She is just beginning weight training. She could barely curl a 5lb dumbbell. Previously, she was purposefully not eating enough, drank alcohol most weekends, was bullied, went to therapy for anxiety, panic attacks, self harm, and depression, and eventually switched highschools to start again. - The girl on the right is 20. She has been lifting for 3 years by creating her own bodybuilding style program. She has gained ~10lbs and is physically strong for her size. She no longer drinks, eats for her nutritional needs, journals, draws, has a support system and an adorable puppy, and attends an acclaimed university. She goes to a psychiatrist for anxiety, panic attacks, and depression.
Mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you have 10 mins, I would love for you to watch (at least the end) of the video I just put up on my channel about the part of my story no one sees. I want to be more than an inspiration for aesthetics. I want to be a source of understanding, honesty, and strength beyond the physical. These things are real - why aren’t they talked about? There is nothing to be ashamed of. Because I AM more than those things, but it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t acknowledge them. I am a spectrum of colors.
It is easy to see a photo and simply look at the aesthetics of a transformation, but there is a person in between those years and inside that body. I have had some really great talks with @jazzypooo and @ariannadantone about mental health, and both of them have really great real talk videos I highly suggest watching. I encourage you all to be bold, be strong, and be more. You are not defined by your body, your illness, or your past. #beavisionary #bepardomas

“Out of the hottest fire comes the strongest steel”
Tian Tao wins the snatch in a strong 85kg class! He used to be plagued with injuries but ever since following programming based on muscle quality, technique, and mental training his consistency and strengths have improved which allow him to attempt such amazing weights at every competition he attends. Let’s wish him luck in the clean and jerk!

Each one of these women is an Olympic athlete. Let’s challenge the notion that thinness is the only indicator of health and fitness.
