“Hey with you who knows?” she teased, even though she knew full well he probably had a list of all the best places in town to get candy from and with Lazy they probably made a fortune in the candy department. “OK that actually sounds adorable. Muy Caliente im not sure about. I’d have to see the outfit for myself to see if i agree on that.” She smirked bac tacking a slight step forward.
“Oh it was muy muy caliente for sure” Ethan said as he returned the smirk, he mimicked her movement of taking a step forward, only this time closing the gap between them. “Well, you could always come back to my place and I can try it on for you.” He placed his hands gently on her hips, “or you could just come and hang out, no costume need, but I do look pretty good in it if I say so myself.”

“I’m just joking.” she replied, rolling her eyes playfully. “Don’t call Grandma on me or anything.”
“Oh, it’s already written down in my notes. I’m adding it to the list of thing to discuss with Grandma on our Friday night phone chats.”

Salomé bit back her lip and frowned, “Yeah, no. Let’s not go there. I have the worst hangover… Two weeks of drinking. It’s finally caught up to me.”
“Two weeks? Yikes, have you tried Pedialyte? That stuff works wonders, the blue kind is the best, pro tip.”

“You see how I didn’t even need to ask, and you told me anyway? Insane how the works. Honestly though, I don’t even know what that is. Do you have any pictures?”
“Well, it’s still nice to be asked. Also, that? THAT?! Lazy’s my cat, how dare you disrespect him like that.”

“Not to mention my affinity to live in bikini starfish top mermaid man is always sporting. And Duckie would absolutely be so cute in that little hate. The trick or treaters are going to be embarrassed when they see how iconic we are, how sad for them.” She joked. “What will you be going as? i can only imagine something iconic with that big brain energy of yours.”
‘Funny, I like to do the same thing. I mean obviously, what cat wouldn’t look cute in a little sailor hat? Kids are so lame these days with their costumes anyway, last year I saw about fifty paw patrols, and harley quinns, there’s something very disturbing about a ten year old dressed as harley quinn.” Ethan laughed, “I’m thinking I’m gonna be the taco and Lazy is gonna be a little packet of hot sauce.”

“I had to cancel all of my classes today. I bet my students are happy I’m not drilling them at rehearsals for their winter recitals today.” @vestalanding
“Can I ask why you had to cancel drilling your students?” Ethan paused, “wait, that didn’t sound right, I didn’t mean- I just mean- never mind.”

“oh well forgive me for asking if you got any candy first. Got to get the important questions out of the way.” Becca teased before looking at him with a smile. “Do I even want to know what you and Lazy went as?”
“I mean obviously I got candy, what do you think this is amateur hour?” Ethan scrunched his face in fake offense. “I was dressed as a taco and Lazy was dressed as a packet of hot sauce, we were, muy caliente.” Ethan smirked at the other in front of him.

“I’m slightly offended you didn’t ask how my and Lazy’s costume went over. Great by the way. It went over great. We were the hit of the dock.”

“No. Oh my god — dude you’re totally onto something.” She mused as she thought about for a minute. Of course, he was right — a witch didn’t really have a sidekick. But he’d just opened up a realm of possibilities. “He could be the Barnacle Boy to my Mermaid Man, I can make him a cute little mask!”
“See, now you’re thinking. I love that. A little mask, and that little white hat that he wears. You’ll be the hit of all the houses.” Ethan laughed, picturing the pair in his mind. “Besides, what a good excuse to wear pink fuzzy slippers all night right?”

“You’re welcome.” she answered with a straight face handing the samples back to him. “I will say, these ones where the design is wider make the area look bigger. Optical illusion.”
“For the record, I would like to sail on your boat before you turn fifty. That’s, like, next year, right?”
“Okay, now that’s some actually helpful information, thank you for that. I was leaning toward those anyway.” Ethan rolled his eyes, “ha. ha. very funny. I only just turned thirty-one thank you very much.”

She waved him off as she reached for the samples. “Dude, my counters are from Ikea. I am all for affordable dupes.”
She nodded as he talked, completely understanding what he was talking about. His area was so small that one thing that was too dark or light could change the whole feel and even though she tried to picture it in her head, she didn’t know if he’d made any more changes since she’d last been there. “I wish these were, like, contact paper or something so we could cover a piece of plywood and feel them out but they’re really nice.”
“Thank you for absolutely nothing.” Ethan sighed, running his fingers through his hair. “I mean I’d kinda like to get this boat done before I’m 50.” Looking over them again Ethan shrugged, “I asked if they had a larger size or some way to test it out but they didn’t have anything. I’ll just stop by the boat later and use my imagination. I have the cabinets installed but they’re kinda useless without tops.”

Erin faked a gagging motion as he flexed, playfully holding her hand against her chest. “Well, you should be.” she replied, pride in her voice. “This is totally my influence. I am so proud.”
“Yeah, well, you got me into this mess you can help get me out of it.” Ethan reached into his back pocket and pulled out a couple counter swatches. “There not top of the line, honestly they’re probably dupes but I thought they looked closet to the real thing and they’re pretty durable. I just don’t know if I like the granite look or the marble look, and I feel like they should be somewhere in like the greyish? Not too dark cause I want it to be a bit bright but not too bright, you know?”

She listened, nodding slowly, “Yeah, yeah. Put away your shotgun.”
“So what are you up to? Didn’t hear you around the apartment this morning.”
“Psh, who needs a shotgun when you got good ol’ black and blue” he said motioning to his arms, which had muscles but not enough to be bragging about. “Just out running errands this morning, turns out I’m picky about my counter tops.”

“I’m really torn between the witch or the devil.” Yes, she was buying matching costumes for herself, and her cat. Clearly she didn’t think it was weird by the way she was holding up a witches at and then the horns. Swapping them back and forth as if that would help her make the decision quicker. “Oh! If we do witches I can give duckie the little hat, and a cape and i can have the broomstick and maybe like a spellbook or something. But If we do the devil I can have the horns and a cape, and he can little bat wings and a cape. Either way he’s getting a cape so it’s a win win honestly.”
@vestalanding
Ethan turned to the other who seemed to be in the same predicament as he was. Which costume would work best for their cat. He nodded along while Imani explained the options to him. “Okay, but hear me out now, what if you guys didn’t match like exactly you know? What if he’s the devil and you’re the angel? Or your the witch and he’s....whatever a witches sidekick is. Wait isn’t a witches’ sidekick a cat? Okay, no that wouldn’t work.” Ethan scratched his head in though.

It was Sunday afternoon and the sun was shining on this unusually warm October afternoon. Now that midterms were over, Harley had every intention of taking advantage of what could easily have been the last warm day of 2020. So he had found himself on a walk. Very suddenly, the blue sky turned to dark grey….this was what Harley got for not checking the weather before he left. Thankfully, Harley could see a pavilion in the distance and ran to hide under that, the rain starting only a moment later. It was really coming down! He glanced behind him, startling a little when he realized someone else was in the pavilion with him. “This storm came out of nowhere!”
Having spent most his life navigating the water Ethan had become pretty good at reading the sky, and as he was out running some errands for boat renovations Ethan knew he had only a few hours before the rain was going to hit. Of course, he got sidetracked and ended up having to run for cover, and it seemed he wasn’t the only one. “Nah” he waved off the other’s comment, “the clouds were screaming rain, but don’t worry it’ll pass in I’d say about twenty minutes or so.”

“You would have, probably. Maybe.” she answered honestly before rolling her eyes. “No, not on a date though I am pleased you thought that. You know, I was thinking about buying some Tevas and investing in weird teas even though, you know, I don’t drink tea. Really embracing my descent into Spinsterhood.”
Ethan returned her eye roll with one of his own as his sister planned her future of teas and Tevas. “Alright, relax, that’s a bit dramatic. I’m sure some nice gentleman will pass my check list and you’ll live happily ever after.” He knew she’d find someone but knowing the men out there, he wasn’t too upset she wasn’t hooked up with some low life.
