âReady Player Oneâ
The story, which mostly takes place in the virtual-reality world called The OASIS, rarely slows down enough to explain the references, or geek out over them the way the book does. Itâs still a visible festival of â80s culture that sometimes hinges significant jokes on the idea that the audience knows the filmography of Robert Zemeckis, or will chortle over a regard to Monty Python and therefore the grail . But the film improves significantly on the book by prioritizing the story over the signifiers. The hardcore pop-culture crowd that's this movieâs ultimate intended audience will have plenty to pore over and knock during this film. But the story moves briskly enough, and with enough giant-sized, screen-friendly excitement, that it doesnât desire itâs aimed solely and specifically at them.
Some of that speed comes at the expense of artistry. Ready Player One opens by laboriously climbing a mountain of voiceover, explaining the setting: the year is 2045, and the world is terrible. Most people sleep in depressing poverty, and spend the maximum amount time as possible jacked into the phantasy world of the OASIS. There, they will be and do anything they need , or a minimum of anything they will afford to shop for with coins won within the universeâs eternally running computer game arenas. The OASIS was created by reclusive genius James Halliday (Bridge of Spiesâ Mark Rylance), who packed it together with his own favorite culture. When he died, he created a three-part quest within the world, linked to his favorite films and games, but also tied to his own past regrets and frustrations. Whoever finds the three keys heâs hidden within the game world, and the ultimate Easter egg they unlock, will get full control of OASIS and Hallidayâs vast fortune.

âThe Setbacks Of Piracyâ
Nowadays once you hear the term piracy, the primary place your mind goes might not be the bandits of the ocean , stealing and plummeting ships as they see fit. Instead you'll believe a really different sort of piracy, one that lacks eye patch and peg legs, but involves a mean citizen with an online connection and a desire to concentrate to music. A major problem in todayâs day and age is that the use of the web to download/pirate a myriad of various copyright protected things; from pictures, songs and films , to programs, games and operating systems. The protection over this stuff is now facing a very serious threat, which is creating an outsized divide between producers and consumers. A large percentage of the customer population would agree that stealing is against the law which going into a store to need whatever you'd like isn't something they could support.
The Government Accountability Office came call at 2010 with a report that said these numbers can't be substantiated or traced back to an underlying data source or methodology. In simpler terms, the numbers are inflated with no data to back them up. This doesn't mean that pirating is harmless however. there's a recognizable decrease in revenue in these industries, it just simply isn't the caliber advocates like the MPAA or the music industry would really like you to believe. additionally it's debatable to categorize any and each thing downloaded as a lost sale. If you've got no money, you'd not are ready to purchase that copyright protected item legally. If you've got no interest in an artist, you're not getting to go buy a replacement album at full retail price, except for free perhaps you'd hear them. Now however we have entered into a world dominated by the internet, copyrighted material is not as easy to protect anymore.

Print, Broadcast and New media:
Whilst we are living in an increasingly digital world, print media is still an incredibly important part of the marketing mix. Investing in print media can help businesses to extend their reach to potential customers, gain exposure and engage their target audiences with campaigns. One of the best benefits of print media is that it has a higher frequency opportunity of viewing than online ads. Since the newspaper or magazine may sit on a table or rack at a business or home, repeated exposures are allowed. Flyers, brochures, and other physical pieces are often reviewed multiple times and shared with other prospects. Unlike digital messaging, print media does not disappear after generating an impression. It piles up, creates clutter, and is thereby reviewed once more, even before recycling or discarding. Because of this long shelf life, you can benefit from having your ad seen by more people, more often.
Broadcasting has revolutionised our life. It is the quickest, cheapest and most popular means of communication, information, education and entertainment, without the use of the wires. It has helped us conquer space and time. As a result of this, the world has become a global village. The nations have come closer and people become more united. By switching on our radios or wireless-sets, we can now have access to any news, information or message transmitted from any radio station. The uses and advantages of broadcasting are too many to count. It is not only an effective medium of mass education and information but also a great and cheap source of mass entertainment. It is used to broadcast songs, music, plays, talks, lectures, advertisements etc., in a very effective manner. In spite of the fact that now there is television; the utility of broadcasting is still great. Its popularity and mass-appeal is still assured. There might be initial setback to its popularity, but ultimately it will be victorious in the race. In developing and underdeveloped countries it would remain a boon for many years to come. Masses of classes listen to radio broadcasts with great interest and enthusiasm.

New Media: Then and Now
-Ethan Gabriel Broñola
Despite close connection between the two types of media, it is possible to draw the distinction between them. Claims that new media âincorporate two-way communicationâ and are related to computing e.g. the Internet, social networks, while old media do not require computing radio, print newspapers, TV. This standpoint can be easily illustrated. Thus, newspapers and tv are rather one-way sources of data . Viewers don't often participate within the creation of the programs. Admittedly, there are call-ins but the quantity of participation remains irrelevant. When it involves newspapers, they're not created by the readers. Each piece of stories is told by a journalist. Readers can only write letters or call the newspaper and it's the editor who decides whether to feature the commentary to subsequent issue or not. However, it's necessary to notice that at the age of newspapers and tv there was no need in such two-way channels. People strived for news and that they simply wanted to remember of the newest events within the world. Remarkably, people of the twenty-first century seek for networking and they want to feel connected. Stress that networking has become very fashionable as people feel certain empowerment. Thus, online resources are characterized by the immediate feedback. Users post their commentaries and express their opinions on a spread of issues.Â
Moreover, people affect mediaâs agendas, so-to-speak. Mentions the story of a teenager who unintentionally caused the start of anti-American demonstrations and almost caused legal actions against himself. Internet users also feel their own relevance with the help of blogging. Emphasizes negative effects of such empowerment. The researcher argues that blogging along with various applications available online makes people distracted from some really important things. Articulates the idea that âdemocratizedâ media only leads to the future where âeveryone is an author, while there is no longer any audienceâ.

âUnderstanding the Relevance of Information Literacy in the Midst of Social Eraâ
In today's digital era, information dissemination channels are increasing, along side the straightforward accessibility to all or any kinds of information. Fog says the media's role in a globalized world is to identify the issues and add value to the glut of information for citizens to develop themselves so that they can learn, select, and play a lively role with the items that promote a nation. McQuail in says that the media are primarily a disseminator of information, a sustainer of national development, entertainer and mobiliser of public opinion. The McQuail explanation if related to emerging international issues makes it clear that the mass media play a crucial role. This is because information is that the community needs, in line with the event of human life which make the knowledge as a plus for them, especially in community life and interaction as social beings. Beside the role and therefore the function, mass media has negative impact too.
Mehraj, et al. found that mass media has a certain impact, especially for adolescents. It causes fears and phobias. It is certainly supported the knowledge that's displayed on the mass media, which consists of a spread of themes. Adolescents as a group in the transition from childhood to adulthood, tend to have a conflict-prone condition. The search for identity becomes one of the problems important to adolescents, so they often do things that originated from trial and error, which does not always end up on the positive. Although conventional media such as newspapers, television and radio stations have been using technology to generate maximum output, the growing trend of Internet usage has an impact on the decline in the use of the conventional media. The increase in the number of internet users is also accompanied by the increased access to social media as the new mass media in society.

âMedia and Government: A Love-Hate Relationshipâ

Coronavirus is everywhere the news, and seriously, if you've got anxiety with all the covid 19 updates happening, please don't read on.
The coronavirus hit us all of sudden , and consumed us within months. Nobody predicted that it might kill numerous people, force countries to lockdown, shut schools and public places and put our life on hold. It hit us and now it's everywhere. It made the entire world bleed, and spreading like wildfire.
Everyone has been writing on this and no it isn't a post about panic buying and no toilet paper, and that i honestly don't know where I stand. i'm a world student studying within the UK, and that i realized that i might probably not be ready to properly say.
The exams that I have been preparing for months got postponed, and we are suddenly left with this void and at the same time this mess. Like every student, I have no idea what will happen to the status of my exams, and will I ever be able to properly graduate, to hug my teachers and tell them thank you, to have that Europe trip with my friends and to live my 21-year old life. There is this panic, and it's like our lives have been reprogrammed.Â
During this chaos, we then realize the weight of humanity, the implications of our actions and how we all are connected. While we wait for borders to be opened, so that we can go back home in the comfort of our bed, we hear the shouts of refugees louder, we 'empathize' with those who have been uprooted from their home, and force to flee, we understand their pain and suffering because we know how it feels. Making Notes
It was the first class for the new students who had just entered the university. The rising sunshine through the windows was shining up the classroom, and it also illuminated the professor who stood in front of the classroom. At that moment, the professor was concentrating on teaching his students in a flow of eloquence. His sonorous voice was the polish cadences, with his right hand sometimes waving in the air, as if he was giving a recitation performance. He was just teaching his famous theory â The Progression of the Knowledge by Society Developmentâ.
All the students were listening with rapt attention and busy jotting. The rubbing sounds of pens and papers only filled in the classroom except the professorâs magnetic voice. The eye-sights of students, like many x-rays, projected powerful beams of light to the professor, with full of the admiration and eagerness.
The professor was reaching the high point of the theory that made a name for him before.
He felt his voice louder, his blood boiled, his heart flopped fast, and his face reddened with an overexcited emotion. He knew after this brilliant lecture, a large number of his new fans were born as usual. Then he emphasized the importance of making notes on the theory and suggested trying to recite them after class.
To make sure all students follow his order, he was casting his eyes around the classroom swiftly to inspect everyone making notes with a satisfactory smiling. Suddenly, his smiling face changed into grim, he frowned, and his eye-sights were frozen in the back corner of the classroom, beside a window. He found a boy-student was just staring out of the window without making notes. The professor followed the boyâs eyes to look out of the window, ânothing!â he murmured in his heart. âHis mind must wander somewhere,â he thought. He had taught more than thirty years in his teaching career, none of students was absent-minded like that. The boy seemed to have break the strong learning atmosphere. The professor couldnât bear such situation exist any longer, he decided to correct him immediately.
The boy didnât notice the big change of the mood from the professor. He still cupped his chin in his hands towards the window by staring blankly, and his elbows were against the desk. The professor strode quickly and stood in front of him with a slight panting. He curved his finger knocking on his desk.
âWake up! Donât you know where you are?â the professor said to the boy in a very stern and depressed voice.
The boy was shocked. He turned back instantly and looked up to the professor with half-opened mouth and widened eyes.
â ProâŠ,ProâŠ, ProfessorâŠ..,â the boy stammered.
The professor interrupted him and said, âDonât you know how important the class is! Why didnât you make notes? What are you doing here?â
All the students turned back their heads to look at both of them. The boyâs face blushed, and his lip tremble slightly, âSorry about that. I have the notes,â he said in a weak voice.
âDid you? Show me your notebook!â the professor ordered.
The boy took out a delicate book from the drawer and hand it to him. He opened the first page, careful ant neat notes appeared before his eyes. He looked boy and back to the notes in turns several times with a doubtable expression. Because he found the notes not only include what he had taught this morning, but also include what he would teach in the future.
âTell me the truth. It isnât yours. I have noticed you for a long time. You didnât make any notes. For sure, your brain had a good trip somewhere,â the professor said calmly this time.
The boy found the flames of the professorâs fury began to go out, He said loudly, âItâs my fatherâs notes. He used to be your student while he studied in the university. He liked what you have taught very much. He has kept the notes until now. When he knew Iâm your student, he gave all these to me. Here are another several notebooks all about your classes.â
There were several notebooks with different covers on the boyâs desk. The professor looked them, the handwriting seemed familiar. âHis fatherâs notes?â he thought, the suspicion not only rose in his heart, but also appeared on his face. An express-speed searching started in his computerized brain at that instant. Suddenly, a slight frown on his face and flashing in his eyes, as though something picked up from his flashed-back memory. He seemed just to be woken from the frozen world with a dead silence. But he felt exhausted, as if his energy had run out at the moment. He paced up slowly to the front and then turned back to the students. He glanced up the clock on the wall and said, âOk, everybody, ten minutes left to the break. Youâd better review what you have learned this morning . After the break, an instructor will explain the safety items in twenty minutes. Then weâll have our second class.â
The professor stepped out the classroom hesitatingly. Since he had taught thousands of times, he never ended the class early. But this time, his teaching fanaticism had gone, just like a high-flying kite with a broken string.
âProfessor, professor,âŠ,â a series of hurried footsteps and voice with a probing tone are coming behind him with a hurried voice. âIt must be the boy,â he thought.
To the boy surprises, instead of blaming, the professor turned back to him and blurted out, âI know your father, his name is Bred, the best one of my students,â his tone indisputable, but his expression cordial.
The boy nodded his head and said, âYeah, you are right. He admires you very much. He showed me a lot about your articles on the newspaper. Thatâs way I am interested in the subject.â
The professor smile and asked, âare you free right now?â
The boy nodded his head again, âyeah.â
âOk, come on, letâs have a short talk.â The professor gave a slight tilt towards his office to the boy.
In the office, the professor looked more easeful, he said to the boy, âI know your father also is famous in the education industry. He has taught the same subject for years in his hometownâs university. We have lost contact for a few years.â He paused a moment, and suddenly asked, âWhy didnât you join him?â
âBecause here is the first-rate university with first-class teachers and students. I have learned a lot from my father, I want to get more knowledge from another channel. Before we learn your class, we got a lot of knowledge related with the subject from the Internet, including download your 23 articles, our classmates shared each others materials last night in the library,â the boy answered.
âGood students, hardworking, all of you like your father. Could you tell me how much you understand my theory?â the professor gave his thick glasses a slight touch with his finger, and then stared at the boy.
The boy began to explain what he knew about the theory in order. His speech lasted more than 15 minutes without a pause, brim-full of his wisdom and confidence. âHow gifted boy he is!â the professor highly praised in his heart, but still calmed on his face. After the boy finished his explaining, the professor said, âGood job, you did an excellent preparation. Ok, Your time is up, the safety instruction will begin.â
âOk, thanks for your patient. See you later.â the boy looked at his watch and said, then he ran out of the office.
The professor stood in front of the window, gazed out the distance and seemed lost in thought. âHow much degree do I know my students that master the knowledge of the subject? How much do I change the teaching content following the developing of the society? How often do I adjust my teaching style focusing on the studentsâ requirements? HowâŠ?â His brain seemed filling with many question marks which asked himself. âI need to change everything from now on,â he made up his mind. âBut how about the second class? The former teaching content that I prepared already was total incompatible with the current students needs?â he was anxious. Suddenly, an idea flashed into his mind. âGood !â He waved his fist in the air, as though he found himself again.
It was the second class. All students were sating in a circle shape by facing to everybody. The professor was among them. The students were having an animated discussion about the theory they learned in the first class and the subject they want to know in the future. The professor was writing notes busily. He couldnât stop catching the firelight of the studentsâ thought from the discussion.
The boyâs eye-sights hadnât moved from the professor for a long time. He rose his heartfelt
admiration to the professor. âDad appraised highly of the professor before. He is right. The professor has a strong sense of responsibility to students.â He took out his fatherâs notebook and softly touched the surface with his fingers, â Thanks, Dad. Your writing notes.â

MANILA, Philippines â The odds were stacked against Sibol Mobile Legends. Indonesia had their dream team, made up of members from the winning squads of the Mobile Legends Southeast Asian and World Championships. These were some of the most decorated guys in the game currently.
But all throughout the best-of-5 match, you wouldnât have known that. They shocked Indonesia with a game 1 victory, with one of their players sneaking from the weak side, destroying their towers, and eventually their base â the gameâs most important play. Kenneth Villa said it was just instinctual to go for the tactic. They had been losing the team clashes, so when a fight broke out on one side of the map, he took the opportunity to wreak havoc in the undefended lane.
The crowd went ballistic with the first win. Indonesia recovered with a championâs dignity in the next 2 games; first, a dominant game 2 victory, and a competitive game 3 where they came back from a poor 0-4 start on the kill tally.
It was Indonesiaâs series to lose at that point. Their collapse came at the start of game 4 when they decided not to ban Esmeralda. As expected, Karl Nepomuceno picked the hero, and gifted the Indonesians with a triple kill in the first team clash, consistently adding more throughout the game. Indonesia banned Esmeralda in the next game but that wouldnât matter as they completely fell apart in game 5.
Nepomuceno was puzzled too with the free pass for Esmeralda, âHindi ko alam sa kanila [kung bakit hindi sila nag-ban]. Baka hindi sila natatakotâŠâ said the 15-year-old. (I donât know with them. Maybe they werenât scared.)
Indonesia may have wanted to have Nepomuceno intentionally pick Esmeralda so they could use a lineup specifically designed to handle the hero. But the gamble cost them, and they opened the door for the underdog Philippines for the comeback, and a place in history. searchmenu

Indonesia may have wanted to have Nepomuceno intentionally pick Esmeralda so they could use a lineup specifically designed to handle the hero. But the gamble cost them, and they opened the door for the underdog Philippines for the comeback, and a place in history.
Prior to the match, Allan Castromayor said he knew what they were up against but that he and the rest of the team were not about to settle for the silver medal: âAlam naming malakas sila pero gold talaga ang gusto namin dahil gusto namin i-prove na kami ang the best,â (We know theyâre strong but we really want the gold because we want to prove weâre the best.)
They wanted gold, and they got it, and along with it, an incredible sense of achievement and pride. This being the first time that esports are a medal game at an event supervised by the International Olympic Committee, they've said before that they sometimes still can't believe they're a part of it.
Their coach, the Korean Changrok Im, held back the tears in the post-match interview. âIâm Korean but I always feel like, in my heart, Iâm a Filipino. Today, I put my right hand on my heart when the national anthem was sung, and it felt so meaningful that I canât express it in words.â If there were people though who had no problem expressing it in words, it was the home crowd. Exploded at the slightest provocation. Great to see live.
Jeniel Bata-anon was in a more jocular mood, jokingly apologizing to his family for making their last name famous as "Baxia-anon." He was referring to the hero Baxia, whom he effectively used throughout the tournament, sometimes facing 4 opponents on his own without being killed â again to the delight of the home crowd. Baxia was countered however in the finals, and Bata-anon had to go for a different hero pick.
The team also expressed optimism for the remaining Filipino competitors in the esports event, and said they hope that their victory would help fuel the momentum in the gold medal matches in the upcoming days.
Sibol Mobile Legends are Kenneth Jiane "Kenji" Villa, Karl Gabriel "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno, Carlito "Ribo" Ribo, Jeniel "Haze" Bata-anon, Angelo Kyle "Pheww" Arcangel, Allan Sancio "Lusty" Castromayor, and Jason Rafael "Jay" Torculas.

Descriptive Essay on stage play "ANAK"
Based on what i saw in their play is full of emotion it's because he worked as a domestic helper in Hongkong for her family, one of the many residents of the archipelago who is forced to leave her family and take a higher paying job in a more prosperous Asian country as the movie narrates. She experienced abused while she is working her employer refuses to let her take a vacation, nor does he deliver her mail to her from her family . She is unaware, therefore, that her husband has died without being in the Philippines. When she finally returns to the Philippines she is met with resentment and hatred by her children. and carla ended up being influenced by the wrong people. When her mother finally came home, she felt like her mother was not part of her life anymore and just stopped caring about her. She never told her stories of what happened to her life. Also, Michael had a struggle to tell her that his full scholarship got voided, and Daday had a hard time being comfortable with Josie. One of the most evident themes is the unconditional love. The unconditional love of a mother, the unconditional love for her family and her unconditional love for her daughter that despite the circumstances she showed no weakness in her daughter. Although she faced with so much challenges and adversity, the movie tackles an important lesson which is to not give up in life. Josie was struggling by the abuses of her boss and as well as the burden from her family. But she managed to remained optimistic as much as possible as she faced her problems.

Dead Stars
Reader Response
Upon reading the story, I felt different emotions. In my first reading, I was really not able to understand because my mind was pre-occupied and it tells me that this story is difficult and so, I find it difficult at first. But, as I read it once again, I have set my mind to think that the story is just easy. And so, I think I understood the story. I really feel sad and sorry for Alfredo because he was in a very difficult situation. It really is hard to be engaged with someone thinking that she is the one but all of a sudden here comes a girl who stole your heart. An old song comes to my mind when I read the story. It could be Alfredoâs theme song. âHow can I tell her about you? Girl, please tell me what to do. Everything seems right, whenever Iâm you.â I really feel sad because of that. But since he realized in the end that Julia was really not for her, I felt satisfaction. Itâs like a question has been answered at last.
I also feel sad for Esperanza for experiencing that problem just before getting married. If it was me, I would have a hard time thinking about my future with that man. But, her love for Alfredo was greater that the problem and so I am happy she chose to marry him. In the end, she is still the winner of Alfredoâs heart.
Feminist Criticism
In the story, traditional gender roles were displayed. Espereranza is the typical woman, waiting for the decision of his man. Sheâs like just sitting there waiting for Alfredo and has no idea her man is eyeing another woman. It was stated in the story that maybe that is why she doesnât seem in a hurry because the man himself seems like he is not into marrying her. That is just so sad. Women those days were really dependent. Alfredo on the other hand, displays weakness, weakness that should not be shown as a man.
