Nowadays when I have writer’s block, I freeze. When I was 11, it seems to me that I would break the fourth wall and keep going.
Actual story quote from my 11-year-old self:
“Then they all waited and waited for the writer to come up with an idea. And they kept waiting. And waiting. And still, they kept on waiting because the idea section in the writer’s brain was filled with hot gas right about now.”

I LOVE that part of editing that requires me to act it all out and see if it's actually how two humans would interact

"There's a reason it's called a ROUGH draft," I sigh, creating a keysmash with my forehead.

it would be so cool if when i wanted to write i could just write. that would be awesome. unfortunately, that is not the case and i am suffering because i have approximately 25 ideas in my brain at all times and only 2 of them have words on the page

your draft isn’t bad. it’s just going through its awkward teenager phase. let it wear a hoodie and slam its door.

people say “write what you know” and then get surprised when i hand them 47 pages of unprocessed emotional trauma disguised as fantasy worldbuilding
#every single character I write is a projection of myself in various different ways#which hey! made me realize that I'm a very multifaceted person :'D

Becoming a writer is great because now you have a hobby that haunts you whenever you don’t have time to do it

being a writer is funny because one day you think “is this too similar to everything that’s ever been written before??” And another it’s more like “wow this is completely different and unrelated to anything and entirely unmarketable.” And then you sob. It’s all the same project btw

editing is just you vs. past-you in a duel of questionable comma placement and emotional instability
#asking myself the age old question “is it actually a paragraph or one really long sentence with 16 commas?”#you'll never guess what the answer is

every writer has That One Scene that lives in their head rent-free but they can’t write it yet because “the vibes aren’t ripe”

sometimes writing feels like dragging your brain across gravel. but at least the gravel is sparkly. and covered in metaphors.

“how do you write again after a long break?” you just start. that’s the horror of it. you just. start. and then the story opens its eyes.
