Nowadays when I have writer’s block, I freeze. When I was 11, it seems to me that I would break the fourth wall and keep going.

Actual story quote from my 11-year-old self:

“Then they all waited and waited for the writer to come up with an idea. And they kept waiting. And waiting. And still, they kept on waiting because the idea section in the writer’s brain was filled with hot gas right about now.”

it would be so cool if when i wanted to write i could just write. that would be awesome. unfortunately, that is not the case and i am suffering because i have approximately 25 ideas in my brain at all times and only 2 of them have words on the page

being a writer is funny because one day you think “is this too similar to everything that’s ever been written before??” And another it’s more like “wow this is completely different and unrelated to anything and entirely unmarketable.” And then you sob. It’s all the same project btw

sometimes writing feels like dragging your brain across gravel. but at least the gravel is sparkly. and covered in metaphors.

“how do you write again after a long break?” you just start. that’s the horror of it. you just. start. and then the story opens its eyes.
