Queer ESC Day 65: Olly Alexander

Also known as Years and Years, Olly Alexander (he/him) is Eurovision's third first openly nonbinary singer. Though somewhat forgotten since he still uses binary pronouns, Alexander is a well known British singer and actor whose 2024 performance was very explicitly gay. The Israeli broadcaster called for him to be disqualified after he signed a ceasefire petition, but the BBC determined that an artist's personal beliefs are not grounds for disqualification.

Queer ESC Day 60: Bambie Thug

Bambie Robinson (they/fae) is one of the contest's three first openly nonbinary artists, and used their time onstage as an opportunity to advocate both for trans rights and for a ceasefire in Gaza. Fae has faced extremely aggressive discrimination on the part of the Israeli delegation for their active stance against genocide. I stand with faer in saying fuck the EBU.
