As I lay on the scratchy roof, layered in blankets, I stared off in the distance and watched the storm. From far away, it was beautiful. I watched as the lightening electrocuted the sky and the thunders roar filled my ears with an angry tone. While I dazed off, I thought of you and your lovely rage. I thought of our midnight fights in the moonlight and how we were a ticking time bomb only set up for destruction. I remembered how I already knew we were doomed from the start, but I didn’t care. I remember the day your words became less exquisite. They turned to ice and stone and bruised my body. The rage that was once filled with passion began pouring over with resentment. I remember the empty apologies, but sorry won’t make it go away. They said to me “Don’t let the bad people make you bitter” and they’re right. I will not let your pin filled words make my soft spoken voice icy and unkind. Your words made me feel empty, and it is up to me to make myself feel whole again.
