they were all, on some degree, just like their father. it was obvious in their mannerisms, their separate genius, and how they all tinkered with experiments- sometimes with the knowledge of others, sometimes not. it was knowing that, that gave marie a gut feeling and led her down to the workshop, an amused smile on her face as she spotted her brother knowing she was right, as well as pride that he was able to hide whatever it was he had been doing for so long.

he was right and perhaps that’s what irritated her the most. in a way her parents did what they bought thought was best in the end so marie wouldn’t turn out like them, not that it worked. her mothers temper, and her fathers stubbornness- she was doomed from the start really.

“i understand, i do.” maybe it’s because it’s steve, or maybe it’s because it’s anyone that isn’t tony, she actually listens, fingers playing with the frayed sleeve of her sweater. “he tells me not to do something and I can’t help but do the opposite, it’s always been like that. i would argue the sky is green if he told me it’s blue.”

"You know the thing about Superheroes and their kids is that most superheroes don't want their kids to follow in their footsteps. I know that if I had kids, I wouldn't want them to follow me on the line of combat. You know? I guess I can kind of understand that. If anything, I'm not really much of a superhero when the term applies. I'm just a guy in some spandex and a tin can for a shield. It's a little outdated, but hey. Look, I just think most parents want their kids to succeed past what they've done or have an easier life."
