You and Yoona have a picnic date in the nearby park. She's just too cute to resist peckering her face in sweet kisses
—-- ⪩⪨⪩⪨
A blue checkered picnic blanket was laid on the fresh green grass. A little spred of picnic appropriate foods and snacks were in the basket. A couple books for you both to enjoy were also laid on the blanket. The secluded little area in the park made this picnic even more perfect, more intimate. The best part? Your cute girlfriend was sitting right next to you, looking happy with heart eyes directed at you. What did you do to deserve her? She could just look at you and your heart felt it wanted to explode. She chose you to be her boyfriend, a thought you could never believe. You had a crush on Yoona for like forever, ever since you set eyes on her in your college class. So it felt like a dream come true. You two had only been dating for 3 weeks, so you wanted everything to be just perfect.
“I didn't know you had a romantic side.” Her doe eyes crinkle as she teases you. Poke, her finger jabs playfully into your shoulder. “I like it.”
“Only for you, darling.” You wink. She giggles softly and moves closer to you.
    “What did you pack?”
You open the basket and pull out sandwiches cut into triangles, gimbap, strawberries dipped in chocolate, and creamppang.
“I searched up picnic foods on google,” you say proudly which makes her laugh.
You pick up one of the coated strawberries. you had picked them from the store earlier, there was even strawberry drizzle on the chocolate. You bring the berry to Yoona's lips, you say ah. She complies. You feed her the berry, watching as her eyes close in delight. She sighs in content.
“It's a very nice day today.” You hum in agreement, it was ahju nice.
Yoona picks up one of the books you bring, The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorn. She has been meaning to read this book, a recommendation from Lily you had heard, so why not borrow it from the library? She cuddles up against you and flips open the book.
⪩⪨
“That one's shaped like a bunny!” You smile at your girlfriend's cute excitement. Your fingertips brush over her hand, a small gesture of endearment. You two were laying down watching the clouds go by.
Cloud watching was rather relaxing. Who knew the big fluffy puffs in the sky could make such interesting shapes? The sound of squirrels scurrying up the trees and playing around was heard, the soft calm breeze was colder under the shade of the trees.
“That one looks like a snail.” You point. The snail cloud slowly lost it's shape but you could still see the vision.
You sit up for a moment, there were a bunch of daisies around the blanket. You pick one, Yoona watches you with curious eyes. You place the flower into her hair that was sprawled out onto the blanket where she lays. You poke her cheek with your finger before leaning in to kiss her lips. When you pull away, her hands go to her face. She was blushing and giggling, your relationship was still fresh so most things you did had her flustered. She was only a girl y'all.
You lie back down next to her, she gets closer, her head on your shoulder. Both your eyes catch the summer cloud at the same time, this one was shaped like a heart. It was like the sky just absolutely knew you two were in love.

all you wanted was to make some patbingsu but somehow ice flew everywhere around your kitchen so now you're left with puddles and a pouty han jisung
—-- ⪩⪨⪩⪨
It was hot, like really hot these pass few days. You stayed inside mostly, because each and every time you stepped outside you felt like you would melt from either the sun's heat rays or the humid Korean air. Yeah, staying inside was a must. Thank God you worked at home.
It was a lazy afternoon, you had clocked out early since you finished all your work. Now you are scrolling through your feed while laying on the couch. You come across a video of a bingsu review. You were suddenly craving the shaved ice dessert. You could totally make some right now... You get off the couch, quickly heading over to the kitchen. You open your fridge, you had some left over sweet red beans from another dish you made a couple days ago, mangos and blueberries. You knew you also had condensed milk as well.
The door bell suddenly rings. You weren't expecting anyone but you had an idea of who may be at the door. You open the door to reveal your boyfriend, Jisung.
“Hi Handsome.” He greets. You had only opened the door for just a second before the giant blast of heatwave hits your face. You pull him inside and shut the door to keep the hot air out.
“Babe, you're just in time. I was about to make some patbingsu.” You explain as he follows you to the kitchen. You have everything you need to make the treat, all that's left was to shave the ice. “Want to help?”
    “Sure!”
You take out your blender from the bottom cabinet before plugging it in the outlet. You take a big bowl to the fridge to get some ice. Once there was enough ice, you bring the bowl to the counter.
“You can do the ice while I cut up the fruit.” You instruct your boyfriend with a simple task.
“Alrighty, that I can do.” You nod before going over to the cutting board. You only need to cut the mangos, there was no need to cut the blueberries for they were tiny enough. Jisung watches you go about the plain task of cutting the fruit. There was just something about the way you were doing it which he found attractive. Like how your muscles slightly flexed when you put pressure on the knife, and how your face looked when focused.
“Honey, the ice will melt before you even get a chance to shave it if you keep staring at me like you are now,” you chide with a shake of your head but you couldn't stop the grin from appearing on your face.
“Right. I can't help it though, you're too handsome.” He whines before dumping the ice into the machine.
“Ji, make sure—” Before you could tell him to make sure the lid was closed properly, before you even got the words out, Jisung starts the machine. And well, you couldn't warn him soon enough. The blender lid flys off.
Ice pieces begin to fly all over the kitchen making Jisung let out a string of swears as he tries to turn it off. When he finally turns it off, the counters, floors, his face and even the ceiling was wet.
“Holy shit!” You laugh when you saw the water dripping from his face, the view was too funny to not laugh. Your boyfriend pouts. “Wow! I was but a second to late to prevent this.”
You go and pat his head. “It's alright, Ji. We'll just clean this up and start again.”
You grab a couple paper towels and hand him some. You two clean up the mess in no time. But the pout was still on Jisung's face. He looks so cute with his jieekies and adorable pout. You couldn't help but kiss him. His pout melts off his lips as he kisses you back. His back hits the counter. You pull back.
“Let's try this again, but this time you make sure the blender lid on tight, hmm?” He blushes at the octave your voice lowers to. The position was rather intimate too, you towering him while he's trapped against the counter was doing things to his heart.
    “Y-yeah.” He swallows hard.
You smirk a bit before taking a step back. You reach over to take the bowl and fill it up with ice once again. You bring it back over to Jisung who then dumps it into the blender with slight shakey hands. You must have really affected his heart a minute ago. This time he makes sure the lid was tightly secure before he turns on the blender. The kitchen soon fills with the sound of the machine spinning the blades to crush up the ice inside. After a couple minutes the ice was good enough for the bingsu.
You take out the bowls from the freezer and place them onto the counter. You poke Jisung's side while you reach over for the blender. You put the ice inside the bowls, then you place the mangos and blueberries on top, the red beans next, you had some mochi as well so you put those on top and lastly you drizzle condensed milk over the whole thing. It was done.
You hand your boyfriend his bowl and you take yours too. First bite was cold and refreshing, the perfect thing you needed this summer. Jisung hums in delight.
“Wanna watch Sailor moon?” You ask before taking another bite.
    “Always.”

It was Friday evening now, the sky painted that pale pink color that only lasted ten minutes before fading into dark.
You were in oversized sweatpants, a loose hoodie, and slippers, dragging out a bulging trash bag because your mom had reminded you four times and you were finally out of excuses.
You cursed quietly as the bag nearly tipped sideways,
trying to juggle the weight of it without letting it rip or spill. Just as you reached the bins by the curb, someone called out—
“Need backup?”
You froze. Looked up.
Ryo stood across the street, hands in his pockets, hair a little messy like he’d just come back from a walk or had been dragged outside too.
His hoodie sleeves were pushed up, and he looked too effortlessly good for someone who had just caught you in full gremlin mode.
You blinked. “What—are you stalking me?”
He grinned. “I visit Sakuya almost everyday. I cut through this street all the time.”
“Great,” you muttered. “Perfect timing. You caught me in my most glamorous moment.”
Ryo stepped closer, raising an eyebrow.
“I don’t know. There’s something kind of iconic about battling a trash bag in slippers.”
You shoved the lid of the bin closed and gave him a look. “Please never repeat that.”
He just smiled and leaned against the fence beside you. “I was actually hoping I’d run into you.”
That caught you off guard.
“Oh..” you said, suddenly more aware of the fact that you hadn’t even brushed your hair in 2 days.
He started to walk away, then turned back. “And for the record?”
“Yeah?”
“You look fine—even when you’re fighting with garbage.”
You threw a crumpled tissue that was in your hand at him.
He caught it and laughed, walking off with a wave over his shoulder.
You stood there for a second longer, "Hey Ryo," you shout, "wanna hang out tomorrow?"
-
Ryo showed up at your door in jeans, a black hoodie, and holding two iced drinks he claimed were “probably way too sweet.”
You let him in, and for a while,
it was just background music and the occasional flipping of pages—he brought a sketchbook,
and you were trying to finish a half-read novel you’d started last week.
It was the kind of comfortable where neither of you needed to fill the silence.
Eventually, you both drifted into conversation.
You were lying on your stomach on the carpet, flipping through a magazine while Ryo sat against the couch.
“I’ve been thinking,” he said, chewing on the end of his straw, “about getting a part-time job.”
You raised an eyebrow. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.
I mean, I kind of want some of my own money, y’know? Like, not just asking my parents every time I want to buy a sketchpad or something.”
You hummed in agreement.
“Same. I’ve been thinking about it too. It’d be nice to have extra for random stuff… or to save up for trips or festivals.”
He looked over at you. “We should do it.”
“Together?”
“Why not?” he said with a small grin. “Could be fun. Or terrible. Either way, at least it’s not boring.”
You smiled, propping your chin up on your hands.
“Alright, deal. We’ll find something. Preferably not fast food. I’d get fired for eating the food.”
“Or bookstore,” Ryo said. “We’d get nothing done.”
“We’d accidentally alphabetize the shelves and then argue about genre tags.”
You both laughed, and for a second it felt like the air between you shifted again—just slightly.
Like something was slowly falling into place without needing to be said out loud.
Later, when Ryo stood to leave, you walked him to the door, fingers lingering on the edge of the doorframe like you didn’t quite want him to go.
He gave you a small nod. “Thanks for today.”
“Thanks for coming,” you said, smiling. “I’ll start job-hunting tonight.”
“Me too. Let’s update each other tomorrow?”
You nodded. “Deal.”
He left with his usual slow walk, hands tucked into his pockets, and your hallway felt quieter without him in it.
Thirty minutes after Ryo left, you were back in cozy clothes—hair thrown into a messy bun, your favorite candle lit, and your phone buzzing with a message from Mina:
mina: we’re outside. prepare urself for being a big back with us.
You barely had time to open the door before Mina barreled in,
followed by Lila carrying a tote bag full of snacks like it was an emergency ration drop.
“So?” Mina demanded, dropping onto the bed dramatically. “You called this meeting like it was life or death.”
“You said ‘I need to tell you something ASAP,’” Lila added as she set chips, cookies, and soda on your desk.
“Which either means you’re transferring schools again, pregnant, or getting married.”
You blinked. “Okay first of all—what??”
“You said ASAP,” Mina repeated.
“That’s like code for secret drama. I already planned my reaction. If you told us you were pregnant, I was going to pretend to faint.”
Lila snorted. “I was gonna name the baby.”
You buried your face in your hands. “You guys are so dramatic. I just wanted to tell you something normal.”
“Then why did it sound like a Kdrama plot twist?” Mina said, suspicious.
You flopped onto the bed between them, arms stretched above your head. “Because I wasn’t thinking. And now I regret it.”
“Spill,” Lila said. “We brought snacks for this.”
You exhaled slowly, letting the moment stretch before finally saying, “Ryo and I… decided to look for part-time jobs together.”
Pause.
Beat.
Blink.
Mina sat up straighter. “Together?”
“Yup,” you said casually, like your heart hadn’t sped up just repeating it.
“Like… the same job?” Lila asked, leaning closer.
“Same place? Same shifts?”
“Well, we haven’t found the job yet, but yeah, that’s the plan.”
Mina clutched a pillow. “Oh my god. This is it. This is the beginning of your slow burn workplace romance.”
“It’s not a romance,” you insisted, grabbing the pillow back. “We just talked about saving money and—”
“You know how many fake dating stories start with a ‘we’re just saving money’ excuse?”
Lila cut in, tossing a cookie into her mouth. “This is literally how half of Wattpad and AO3 operate.”
“I repeat,” Mina said seriously, “you’re either pregnant or about to fall in love during a closing shift.”
You groaned into the blanket. “Can we not loop pregnancy into every conversation?”
“No,” Lila said. “We’re mentally prepared for all possibilities now.”
You laughed, finally giving up. “Okay, fine. It was kind of cute. He brought it up first.”
“AH,” Mina yelled. “So he initiated it?!”
“Girl,” Lila said, leaning in. “He wants to spend time with you on purpose? In a minimum-wage environment?? That’s real.”
You smiled to yourself before you could stop it.
“He said he wants his own money for art supplies and stuff. It wasn’t that deep.”
“But he chose you to do it with,” Mina pointed out.
“He could’ve asked Sakuya. Or, you know, worked alone like a normal person.
Then Lila flopped back on the bed, eyes on the ceiling. “If you two end up working at a tiny café and locking eyes over a busted espresso machine, I want credit.”
Mina raised a hand. “And I want naming rights if your job love story ends in marriage.”
“Can we not jump straight to marriage and babies?” you groaned, throwing a pillow at both of them. "Although I really really love him.."
Lila caught it, grinning. “Too late. We’ve already picked out the wedding playlist.”
You shook your head, but even under the teasing and chaos, you felt it—the way they were genuinely excited for you.
For the chance of something real slowly building between you and Ryo.
And you couldn’t lie… deep down, you were kind of excited too.
"whatever im gonna tell Sakuya about this", lila says.
You and mina just glance eachother and smirk.
Monday morning came with sleepy eyes and unfinished breakfast.
School dragged the way it always did at the beginning of the week, but your mood was lighter than usual.
Maybe because of the weekend.
Maybe because you and Ryo had spent more time talking than you realized—and now it felt like something was quietly shifting just enough to notice.
You were walking with Mina and Lila to class when it happened.
“Are you guys free after school?” you asked casually,
pulling your hoodie sleeves over your hands. “Ryo and I are checking out a few places for job openings downtown.”
Mina blinked. “Wait. Ryo and you?”
Lila’s head whipped around. “Together?”
You froze. “…Did I not say that part already?”
Mina gasped. “Oh my god. I thought it was just a maybe. This is a thing. A full-on co-working plotline!”
Before you could defend yourself, the group chat pinged.
Sakuya 🌀: wait u and ryo are what now
Mina 🐸: Y/N and Ryo are job hunting together. same shifts. same store. same fate.
Lila 🐍: This is better than enemies to lovers. It’s coworkers to crushes.
You groaned, your phone lighting up again.
Sakuya 🌀: who let you two have a storyline without me
You bit back a smile. Typical Sakuya.
Lila 🐍: not yet 😌
You: can we chill it’s literally just job stuff 💀
Sakuya 🌀: “just job stuff” yeah okay. let’s see how long that lasts.
By the time you and Ryo left the last shop downtown, your feet were sore and your patience was fading.
“That café manager didn’t even look up when we said hello,” you muttered, adjusting your bag as you stepped outside. “Like, sir… eye contact is free.”
Ryo chuckled, walking a little slower beside you. “At least he didn’t make us do math on the spot. I still don’t know how much 7 x 12 is.”
“You definitely should know that.”
“I panic under pressure,” he said with a mock-serious expression. “Basic math? Gone. My own name? Forgotten.”
You laughed, and he grinned at the sound.
The sun was starting to dip low in the sky, painting everything gold. Your sneakers thudded gently against the sidewalk as you both turned onto the familiar route through the neighborhood.
“Do you think we’ll get any of them?” you asked after a beat, voice a little quieter now.
Ryo tilted his head, thinking. “I don’t know. Maybe. We made a decent impression… except at that one boba place where the blender exploded.”
“That was not my fault,” you said quickly, pointing at him. “You leaned on the counter!”
He smirked. “And you yelled like we were being attacked.”
“I was emotionally attacked,” you shot back.
The two of you dissolved into laughter again, and for a second, the weight of the day didn’t feel so heavy.
As the street grew quieter and your houses came closer, your steps slowed just a bit. The afternoon light hit the side of Ryo’s face, and he looked peaceful, even with his hoodie slightly rumpled and his hair wind-tousled.
“I’m glad we did this,” he said suddenly, voice softer than usual. “Even if we don’t get hired anywhere. It was nice.”
You looked at him, and something in your chest swelled—quiet and warm.
“Yeah,” you said honestly. “It really was.”
He nodded, kicking a pebble across the pavement. “And if nothing works out, maybe we can open our own store.”
You raised an eyebrow. “Oh? What would we sell?”
“Trash art and emotional chaos.”
You laughed. “So… us.”
“Exactly.”
You reached the part of the street where you'd split. His house just a little farther, yours glowing gently from the porch light.
Ryo looked at you, and something flickered across his face—not quite a smile, not quite something else.
“I’ll text you if I hear back from the bookstore.”
You nodded. “I’ll do the same.”
For a moment, neither of you moved. The breeze tugged softly at your sleeves. You wondered if he could hear how loud your heart felt.
Then he smiled—small, warm. “Night, Y/N.”
“Night, Ryo.”
He walked backward for a few steps, hoodie sleeves pulled over his hands, then turned and disappeared around the corner.
You stood still for a second longer, the soft buzz of the moment still clinging to you.
*Timeskip*
Eight months of part-time shifts, spilled drinks, music debates during slow afternoons, and quiet glances over the register when they thought the other wasn’t looking.
Ryo and Y/N had fallen into the kind of rhythm that made people assume they were already a thing.
Customers called them “the cute couple behind the counter.”
Their coworkers teased them, gently. Even the manager once said,
“Reminding you to invite me to the wedding when you finally admit it.”
But Sakuya was over it.
On a slow Sunday, he cornered Ryo in the back alley behind the café where they were throwing out cardboard boxes after helping out with a pop-up event.
“You like her, right?”
Ryo paused, glancing up from taping a box shut. “Huh?”
Sakuya gave him a flat look. “Y/N.”
“What about her?”
“Don’t play dumb, Ryo.”
Ryo straightened, “I’m not. I just— I don’t know.”
Sakuya crossed his arms. “You act different when you’re around her. You smile more. You don’t zone out as much. You actually listen. That means something.”
Ryo looked down at the floor, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. “Yeah… I mean… I care about her. A lot.”
“So what’s stopping you?”
Ryo sighed. “I don’t wanna mess it up. Things are good. We’re good. I don’t want it to get weird if—if she doesn’t feel the same.”
Sakuya stared at him for a long second. “You’re an idiot.”
Ryo blinked. “Rude.”
“She likes you, dude. She’s liked you. And you’re just floating through life pretending not to notice because it’s easier than dealing with feelings.”
Ryo opened his mouth to argue—then closed it.
Because Sakuya wasn’t wrong.
Two days later, Mina, Lila, and Sakuya were fully in on Operation Get Those Two Together™.
“We’re not pushing,” Mina said as she laid out the plan over group chat. “We’re nudging fate.”
“We are fate,” Lila replied.
“Thank you for your service,” Sakuya added. “Ryo is emotionally dense and needs help.”
And so, the setup began.
The plan was simple: a chill group hangout. All of them. Park day. Snacks. Music. Casual, easy vibes.
Except… Mina and Lila would conveniently “leave early.”
And Sakuya would “get called home.”
And just like that, Ryo and Y/N would be alone—finally—and maybe, hopefully, forced to actually talk about what’s been bubbling between them for months.
“You think this’ll work?” Mina asked Lila later as they packed a bag of snacks.
“Oh, 100%,” Lila replied. “The only reason they aren’t dating yet is because they think the other doesn’t feel the same.”
“And after today?”
Lila grinned. “They’ll either kiss or combust.”

A simple message from Ryo on a Saturday pinged you from your active daydreams.
Ryo: everyone else bailed on today lol still wanna go to the bookstore?
You stared at the screen for a few seconds too long, then typed back quickly.
You: yeah. i’m in.
The bookstore was a small one, the kind with warm lighting and soft instrumental music playing overhead.
It smelled like paper and peppermint tea, and the aisles felt just quiet enough to make your footsteps sound too loud.
But Ryo didn’t seem bothered.
He walked slowly, hands in the pockets of his hoodie, pausing every so often to flip through a page or glance at a spine, with wide boba eyes.
You trailed beside him.
You ended up in the manga section and Ryo smiled at a familiar title.
“I used to read this one in middle school,” he said, pulling it off the shelf and turning it to show you. “It’s kind of lame now.”
You skimmed the cover and laughed. “You’re telling me you liked something this over-the-top?”
“I’m multifaceted,” he said dryly, but his smile lingered.
You wandered through a few more shelves, talking softly about books you liked,
things you’d never finished,
and the curse of having no shelf space left at home.
Somewhere between graphic novels and poetry, you realized how much time had passed.
Ryo nudged your elbow gently.
“Wanna go sit for a bit?”
You nodded, and the two of you made your way to the tiny café corner of the store, two chairs, one small round table, and a window that looked out on a quiet street.
He ordered a matcha latte.
You got something with peach and whipped cream.
When you sat down, it was quiet for a moment—comfortable, but with something humming underneath.
“You’re quieter than usual,” he said, looking over at you.
You blinked. “Am I?”
“Not in a bad way,” he added quickly. “Just… I notice when you’re thinking.”
You sipped your drink to hide your smile, and feelings. “I think a lot.”
“I like that about you,” he said, almost absentmindedly.
Then he looked up and met your eyes. “I mean it.”
You didn’t know what to say to that, so you didn’t.
But something fluttered in your chest, gentle and light, like it was waiting for permission to get stronger.
He looked out the window for a while, cup resting in his hands.
“Sometimes I feel like I’m bad at talking,” he said quietly. “Like I miss stuff people are trying to say. Or I don’t say things when I should.”
You glanced at him, heart tugging. “I don’t think you’re bad at it. You’re just….you listen better than anyone I know.”
He looked at you then—really looked—and for a moment,
it felt like you were both standing still in the middle of moving time.
You wondered if he could hear how loud your heart was suddenly.
But he only smiled, small and real. “Thanks.”
After a few beats of quiet, you tilted your head. “So, if you're not into this manga anymore”—you nodded at the volume sitting between you—“what are you into these days?”
He thought for a moment,
thumb running over the edge of his cup.
“Sketching, mostly. Random stuff. People I see in cafés, or in the halls at school. Sometimes just… shapes I can’t explain.”
“Do you ever show anyone?”
He shook his head.
“Not really. Sakuya’s seen a few, but I mostly keep them to myself.”
You hesitated. “Can I see one?”
Ryo blinked, caught off guard—but he didn’t say no.
Instead, he slowly pulled out a small sketchbook from his bag, flipping through a few pages before turning it around for you.
Your breath caught a little.
The sketch was of a girl sitting at a bus stop, surrounded by trees and half-finished background lines.
The lines were delicate, but purposeful.
“She looks kind of like…”
“You,” Ryo said, before you could finish.
Then he blinked,. “Not on purpose. I mean—it just kind of happened.”, he says too quickly.
Your heart jumped a little, but you tried to keep your voice light. “So I’ve accidentally become your muse?”, you tease.
He raised an eyebrow. “I wouldn’t go that far.”
You smiled. “But you’re not denying it.”
He rolled his eyes, but the corners of his mouth twitched up. “You’re annoying.”
“And yet, here we are.”
He didn’t respond right away.
Just looked at you, eyes lingering a second too long.
“I like hanging out with you,” he said finally.
You blinked, caught off guard by the honesty. “You make me feel calm,” you admitted. “And I’m not usually that calm. Neither of us are. Haha.”
Ryo glanced down at his hands. “You ever think about how different everything would be if we hadn’t started talking?”
You nodded slowly. “All the time.”
He looked up, his eyes meeting yours. “I’m glad we did.”
Your chest tightened—not painfully, but with that weird, aching hope that maybe he almost understood how much that meant to you.
“I am too,” you whispered.
The moment stretched, quiet and full.
And then he leaned back and said, “Next time, I’m showing you the really embarrassing stuff I drew in middle school.”
You laughed. “Next time?”
His smile was soft. “Yeah. Gotta give you a reason to hang out again.”
You sat there a moment longer, fingers tracing the edge of your empty cup.
He checked the time on his phone. “It’s not that late.”
You looked out the window. The sky was dusky now, gold giving way to grey.
Streetlamps flickered softly to life.
“There’s this record store a few blocks from here,” you said, trying to sound casual totally not how your heart is about to jump out of your chest and into his cup of matcha.
“It’s kind of hidden, but they’ve got all these weird secondhand vinyls and old posters. You wanna check it out?”
Ryo blinked, then nodded slowly. “Yeah. That sounds cool.”
The record store was exactly as you remembered: a little cluttered, a little musty, and completely charming.
Wooden shelves lined every wall, stuffed with records, cassette tapes, and folded band tees
A soft indie rock track played overhead, grainy and low through old speakers.
Ryo ran a finger along the edge of a display. “This place feels like it hasn’t changed since the 90s.”
“That’s why I like it,” you said, glancing at him. “It’s got a soul.”
He smiled, tugging a slightly warped record from the bin and holding it up.
“This one looks like it’s been through three wars and a basement flood.”
You laughed. “That’s half the charm. It probably sounds amazing.”
You both wandered for a while, not saying much, flipping through rows of forgotten names and legends. You’d move to a new aisle, and somehow he’d follow. Or you’d catch yourself standing just a bit too close. But neither of you moved away.
At one point, he held up a record with a ridiculous neon cover and said, “This feels like the soundtrack to Sakuya’s brain.”
You burst out laughing. “That’s exactly the energy.”
Ryo looked over at you then, soft amusement in his eyes. “You laugh a lot more now.”
You paused. “Oh. Is that a bad thing?”
“NO,” he said quickly. “No, no, no, It’s nice. You seem... lighter than when school started.”
You didn’t answer right away.
Maybe you were. Maybe it was because of days like this. Maybe it was because of him.
You found a record with a familiar cover and held it up. “This one’s my favorite.”
Ryo stepped closer to look. “You want it?”
You shook your head. “Nah, I just like visiting it.”
He raised an eyebrow. “You’re emotionally attached to a vinyl?”
“I’m emotionally attached to everything,” you said proudly.
He smiled again—soft and genuine, the kind that made your stomach flutter for no reason.
Eventually, the store lights dimmed slightly—subtle, but the signal that it was getting late.
You both stepped back into the cool air, walking a little slower now, like neither of you was quite ready to let the day end.
You glanced at him, heart doing a small flip. “Ugh your eyes look so soft.”.”
He giggles. “What are you even talking about?”
You both laugh.
“Today was nice,” he said quietly.
“It really was.”
You walked the rest of the way in peaceful silence, the kind that didn’t need to be filled. When you reached your street, you slowed.
“Will you text me when you get home?” you said, like it was second nature.
“Yeah,” Ryo said, then gave you a small nod. “Thanks for today.”
“Anytime,” you replied, meaning it more than he probably realized.
You watched him walk off, hands in his pockets, headphones back around his neck.
And even as he got smaller in the distance, the warmth of the day lingered like the buzz of a favorite song playing faintly in your head.

The Bike Lesson
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ִֶָ࣪☾. 김승민 —
paring: bf!seungmin x gn!reader
genre: fluff, seungmin being seungmin
warnings: brief mention of scraps and cuts, bandaid. i think that's all?
wc / cc : 880 / 4.7k
skz summer masterlist
synopsis —---
learning to ride a bike was on your bucket list, he knows that. and what better time to learn than during your last summer as highschoolers?
—-- ⪩⪨⪩⪨
“You did not just buy me a bike! No fucking way! Min!” You gasp as you stare at the shiney purple bike with basket and tan wheels. It was so pretty.
“Do you not like it?” He asks you, he trying to read your face.
“No I do..! But you do know I don't know how to ride one, right?”
“Obviously I know that.” He rolls his eyes. “That's why I'm going to teach you.”
“Wait really?” Your eyes shine. “You bought me a bike so you could teach me how to ride one?”
“No shit, Pup.” He shakes his head nonchalantly.
You squeal and hug him tight. “I knew you were a secret softie.” He pats your head and stokes your hair.
“Only for you pup. But don't get used to it.” you giggle then pull away.
“Okay!” You clap once. “Let's get this show on the road!”
Seungmin smiles, “Like your enthusiasm, baby.”
You get on the bike, feet resting on the ground. The bike's kickstand supports the bike when you lift your foot to the pedel.
“So what first?” You ask looking straight ahead.
“You'll have to work on your balance first.”
You kick the kickstand back, you use your feet to stay up right for now. Seungmin walks behind you, holding the back of the purple bike to make sure you don't fall. He gestures for you to try. You push the bike with your foot to get a bit of momentum. You wobbled not use to the feel at all, you felt yourself tipping. Your foot lands onto the ground to catch yourself. Seungmin's hand goes to your waist to make sure you don't fall.
    “Careful now, pup.”
You try again, sitting straighter in hopes that would help with your balance.
It took you a couple tries before you could even stay on your bike for longer than a couple seconds.
“You're making progress. Let's try to go faster, yeah?” You smile proudly. At least you were getting somewhere.
You kept practicing with Seungmin by your side. You had fallen a couple times when you went without Seungmin by your side—thank God he brought bandages. The cuts and scrapes weren't too serious and you were a determined girl. After a few more hours and tries, you had finally gotten the hang of it. Seungmin runs up to where you stopped, giving you a kiss to your temple.
“You did it! I'm so proud of you.” That made you glow.
You spent the rest of the afternoon biking around because after you had gotten the hang of it, it was pretty fun. You also had a faster way of travel now since you didn't know how to drive a car. Seungmin got his bike too, the dark blue metal looked nice next to your purple one. You two rode around the neighborhood, giggling like the school kids you were. It was your last summer as highschoolers so why not live like it?
⪩⪨
You pedel your bike as fast as you can, wondering what was wrong. Seungmin had randomly sent you a text to meet him at the playground with no further context and he hadn't replied to your messages after. Since it was the middle of the night, nearing 11 pm, you assumed it was urgent. The air was cool and the moon was smiling. The park wasn't far from your house so the outline of the park came into view pretty fast since you were on a bike. The street lamps lit the playground in an almost eerie way. You see Seungmin on the swing, his own bike stood a few feet away from him. You slow down and hop off your bike, you roll it over to Seungmin's. You prop it on the kickstand.
“Seungmin what's wron—?” You pause cause he just holds out flowers to you. You take the bouquet of purple zinnias flustered. “Why?”
That was all you manage to say. He looks up at you and shrugs.
“It's our anniversary next week. Thought I'd get you an early gift.” You plop down on the swing, defeated. What were you going to do with this guy? “I'll get you another gift on the actual day if that's what you're worried about.”
“Babe, that's the least of my worries right now. What am I to do with you? You nearly gave me a heart attack with your ominous message!”
“How?” He stares at you like you Hyunjin, who was always being dramatic.
“I don't know, maybe cause it's the middle of the night and you texted me and I quote, "Pup, meet me at the playground. Quick." and I texted you if anything was wrong but you hadn't responded!” You do gestures with your hands as you speak.
“Sorry pup, my phone died.” He ruffles your hair. You pout then sigh.
“At least you're okay,” you mumble. You look at bouquet in your hands, “These are really pretty, where'd you get them?.”
“I was walking around the city earlier when I saw them at that flower shop. They're your favorite color and they reminded me of you so I got it.” He says as if that was a casual thing. You smile.
“You're never beating the softie allegations. Thank you though, babe.”

MWAH ! ➳ BOYNEXTDOOR
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
➙ the boynextdoor members favourite places to kiss you
pairing: bnd x gn!reader
genre: fluff
warnings: not proofread, lowercase intended, platonic relationship between reader and woonhak
a/n: did i think of this at like 2am one night like last month and it’s just been chilling in my drafts ever since? yes, yes i did.
a/n (2): as you guys know already, i only write platonic instances for woonhakie so take it all as such, reblogs greatly appreciated my luvs :p
Tumblr media
🖇️ — 명재현 ; MYUNG JAEHYUN !
↳ your shoulders
myungjae loves loves lovesss the surprise and gentle back hugs
like he will just randomly come up behind you and wrap his arms around your waist snuggling his head between the crook of your neck
when he’s feeling extra affectionate and yearning for your touch he will slowly kiss along your shoulder
sometimes he’ll just hold you kissing your shoulder slowing reaching up to your ear as he whispers little praises and words of adoration
“I don’t think I got to tell you how much I love you today but I really do. Thank you for being by my side.” he says softly before kissing the spot just below your ear and trailing down
you’ve gotten so used to this level of intimacy that you kinda just go along with it and quietly revel in it
you could be busy washing the dishes and you’ll feel his arms around you, but you’ll just continue as you were as a small smile grows on your face
“Ow! Jae what the heck!” you yelp out in shock as the boy in question only giggles holding you tighter and hiding his face
i may have forgot to mention he’s got a cheeky little streak where he playfully likes biting your shoulder sometimes too, oopsie
🖇️ — 박성호 ; SUNGHO !
↳ your hands
it wasn’t unusual for sungho to not want to hold your hand whenever he had the given opportunity
whether it be while you were walking, he was driving and holding yours, listening to you talk and intertwining your fingers with his
he will subtly kiss the back of your palm just as a silent reminder that he’s fully immersed in you and being with you
“Wow… just wow-“ sungho stutters out not being able to fully coherently talk upon seeing your outfit
you were both preparing to go out on a date and he was completely mesmerised making his way to you and holding your hands in his
lifting up your hand to his lips, he maintains eye contact before gently leaving a kiss on your hand and gently rubbing them with his thumbs
very gentlemanly form of affection
he really just likes holding your hands, kissing them just adds a lot more intimacy which leaves you both (mostly you) blushing at how sweet it is
🖇️ — 이상혁 ; RIWOO !
↳ your cheeks
if it’s not you kissing his cute squishy cheeks then best believe he’s kissing yours
sometimes he’ll just randomly come by in passing and swiftly kiss your cheek whenever he feels bold
but being the shy one he is, no matter how long you’ve been together, he’ll sometimes ask before giving you a kiss
“Could I… y’know…” he hints shyly as his ears turn red
“Hyeokie we’ve been together for like 2 years now, you know you don’t need to ask.” you laugh softly taking it upon yourself to tease him tapping your cheek lightly waiting for his kiss
as much as you tease, you find it adorable how he still asks for consent before kissing you
but this has also become a normal form of affection as the first thing he does when he gets to wake up beside you
“Good morning my love, how did you sleep?” he asks with his morning bed hair on display as he leans in to kiss your cheek softly
nothing beats a soft kiss from your favourite person to start the day
🖇️ — 한동민 ; TAESAN !
↳ your lips
taesan has one of the prettiest lips (complete side note: like if you think he should get snake bite piercings)
but boy is he a lot more obsessed with your lips
if he’s not constantly lingering on them while he watches you talk, he’s kissing you
“Are you listening to me?” you stop halfway through your story noticing your boyfriend who’s eyes kept going back and forth between your lips and eyes too
“Can I kiss you?” he flatly says catching you off guard
you ofcourse weren’t gonna say no because he gave the sweetest kisses
taesan loves kissing your lips because he finds them so soft and getting lost in kissing you somehow calms him down and makes him feel closer to you
any chance he gets he will kiss you and it leaves you breathless
does he ever get tired of kissing you? never. will you? absolutely not!
🖇️ — 김동현 ; LEEHAN !
↳ your neck/temple
he knows your weak spots and he definitely uses them to his advantage
your neck is one of them and he loves it
but just as much as you love your boyfriend showing his affection and kissing you, leehan gets a kick out of leaving you feeling for more
with his arms around you, he tenderly places soft kisses along your neck making you laugh softly as he pulls you in closer savouring the moment
seeing how you react whenever he kisses you wanting more makes him enjoy kissing you more
when he’s feeling a lot softer or when in public he simply sticks to leaving a soft pecks instead
gently pulling you into his side he leans down and places a kiss on your temple to show his affection
best believe you’re left a blushing mess when you make eye contact and you catch him already looking at you with much adoration and love
🖇️ — 김운학 ; WOONHAK !
↳ your forehead
this became a regular routine within your friendship
a form of affection from woonhak especially whenever he was comforting you or something he’d do after giving you a tight hug
having a height difference where he was taller than you even in the slightest made it a lot easier for him to easily place a peck on your head
“I haven’t seen you in awhile, I missed you.” your best friend says engulfing you in his arms in a long hug
hugging him back you feel him kiss the side of your head before pulling away to yap your ear off about his most recent trip
you were initially confused about the sudden kisses when he’d first done it but along the way you’d grown to enjoy his warmth and affection
“Hmm, new shampoo?” he asks randomly hugging you again secretly smelling the new hint of vanilla from your head
“Woonhak I’ve told you to stop sniffing my hair!”
and as comforting as the forehead kisses were, he’s silly little antics would never change

[Cabin Cult 🔥💀]
Lila: math has personally wronged me Mina: math has wronged all of us Sakuya: i’m starting a petition to ban math from the curriculum Lila: i’ll sign three times Sakuya: if you fail algebra but look cool doing it, is it really a failure? Mina: yes.
You smiled down at your screen, tucked beneath your blanket. The three of them went back and forth, sending memes and shit-talking teachers like a language only they spoke.
And somehow—you were fluent now too.
It felt… nice, not like back home with your "friends".
Your phone buzzed again, this time a separate message.
[Ryo 💬] hey settling in okay?
Your heart thumped. Not in a dramatic way—but in that soft, startled way where someone catches you off guard just by caring.
You: yeah, it’s been good :) school’s kinda loud but not terrible getting lost only once so far feels like a win
Ryo: not bad. most people take a week just to figure out where the bathrooms are you’re adjusting faster than i did
You smiled at the screen, the corners of your mouth twitching up.
You: i think it helps having you guys around i was nervous about transferring but now it just feels like I belong here lol
Ryo: yeah. samee
There was a pause. You typed something, erased it, then tried again.
You: i’m glad i met you.
i mean like im glad i met all of you. Everyone. yk
Ryo: me too feels like we’ve all known each other longer than 3 months
You waited for something else—some extra layer—but it didn’t come.
Still, your chest felt warm anyway.
Maybe he didn’t notice what you were really trying to say.
Or maybe he just didn’t see you that way yet.
You were just about to drift off—phone tucked under your pillow,
Ryo’s messages still replaying in your head—when Mina rolled over with a loud groan and flopped her arm across your stomach.
“You’re not asleep yet, are you?” she mumbled into her pillow.
“Nope,” you whispered. “Barely.”
Across the room, Lila’s voice piped up from her sleeping bag.
“Good. I’ve been pretending to sleep for the past fifteen minutes and it’s boring as hell.”
You laughed quietly,
“So,” Lila said, voice full of knowing. “Where you texting Ryo?.”
You didn’t answer immediately.
Mina sat up on her elbows, eyebrows raised in the dim glow of her phone screen. “You were! You little—”
“I wasn’t doing anything,” you mumbled, cheeks hot. “We were just talking.”
Lila snorted. “Sure. Just talking with your face all dreamy like you were reading a manhwa.”
“I was not!”
“You were,” Mina said, flopping a pillow onto your face. “It was very soft. Very suspicious.”
You peeked out from beneath it. “It’s not like that.”
But it was, wasn’t it? Kind of. .
Lila crawled over, blanket draped over her shoulders like a cape. “Okay, real question: how long do you think it’ll take for him to realize you like him?”
“I don’t even know if I do like him like that,” you protested.
Both girls immediately raised their eyebrows.
“Okay—maybe I do,” you admitted, groaning into your hands. “But it’s not like I planned it.”
Mina nodded sagely.
“That’s how it always happens. First it’s just ‘oh he’s nice,’ and then suddenly it’s like—‘wait, why does my stomach do gymnastics when he looks at me?’”
“I think I’m in the gymnastics phase,” you mumbled.
Lila grinned. “Honestly? You’re handling it well. No spiraling, no crying. Yet.”
“I am not spiraling.”
“You’re overanalyzing text bubbles and checking your hair in reflective surfaces. It’s starting.”
You let out a dramatic sigh and flopped backward onto your pillow.
“What do I even do? He’s so... calm. Like he doesn’t even realize he’s accidentally magnetic.”
Mina laughed. “That’s what makes him dangerous.”
Lila poked you gently. “You don’t have to do anything yet. Just feel it out. Keep being you. If he doesn’t fall for you, he’s actually blind.”
“I think he likes you,” Mina added quietly. “Not in the normal way. But... I’ve seen the way he listens when you talk. It’s different.”
You stayed quiet, letting that possibility settle like a feather in your chest.
“You’re allowed to like him,” Lila said gently. “Even if it doesn’t go anywhere. It’s still yours.”
You swallowed, the lump in your throat warm instead of heavy. “Thanks.”
Mina yawned and pulled her blanket over her head. “Okay now shut up before I cry for no reason.”
Lila rolled onto her side. “Can we all fall asleep to a fake scenario where Ryo finally notices and is like, ‘I drew you in my sketchbook 17 times, didn’t you know I liked you?’”
You giggled. “Sure.”
Two months of school passed like pages turning quietly in the background of your life.
School got easier.
Or maybe you just got used to it.
The confusing hallways didn’t feel like a maze anymore.
The awkward silences in class had turned into passing notes, eye rolls at bad jokes, the kind of small things that meant you weren’t new anymore.
You were just there. Part of it.
You didn’t see everyone every day.
There were separate class schedules, club meetings, parents who expected curfews and study hours.
But somehow—weekends still belonged to the five of you.
Café meetups where Mina always showed up late.
Study sessions that turned into Lila drawing hearts on people’s worksheets.
Sakuya bringing energy drinks no one asked for.
Ryo... sitting beside you, sketching quietly in the margins of his notes.
It wasn’t dramatic. No sparks flying in school hallways.
Sometimes he'd catch your eye during group conversations, like he was checking to see if you were still listening.
And once, when you showed up late to the bookstore hangout and apologized with a huff of air and windblown hair, he just smiled, slow and quiet, and said, “You’re here. That’s all that matters.”
Saturdays meant two things now: Mina being twenty minutes late, and group study sessions that started strong and spiraled into snacks, sarcasm, and Sakuya rereading the same sentence for an hour.
This week, the meeting spot was Lila’s place her dining table was overtaken by notebooks, colored pens, half-eaten chips, dangling keychains and an absurd number of sticky notes.
You sat beside Ryo, your notebooks angled toward each other like a truce. His handwriting was neat, straight lines and soft pressure. Yours was more of a scattered mess, but you were trying to copy his layout.
“I swear it changes names in every textbook,” Mina grumbled.
“No, you just don’t study,” Lila shot back.
“I do!”
Sakuya chimed in without looking up from his book. “You’re all wrong. Me and lila do study but we have other occupations.”
You smiled, tapping your highlighter against your cheek as you glanced over at Ryo’s page. “Your notes are too clean. It’s giving teacher’s pet.”
He glanced sideways at you. “What if i am? Are you going to boo me?”
You raised a brow. “That would be so off-brand for you.”
“What’s my brand then?”
You hesitated. “i dont know, like a golden retriever dog.”
He blinked, surprised. Then gave a small, lopsided grin. “That’s very- wow.”
“It’s accurate.”
You both looked back at your notes, but the silence between you felt a little warmer than before.
Lila leaned forward, kicking you lightly under the table. “Hey. Trade me your bio notes or I’ll tell everyone your most used emoji.”
You gasped. “You wouldn’t.”
Mina snorted. “Wait, what is it?”
Lila smirked. “It’s the sparkle one. Because she’s always trying to make things sound slightly magical.”
Sakuya laughed. “That actually fits. She’s got that whole kiki's delivery service vibe.” He gasps loudly, "You are a witch! BURN HER AT THE STAKE"
You rolled your eyes but smiled anyway, sliding your notes across to Lila.
Ryo leaned in just enough for his shoulder to brush yours. “I like the sparkle emoji.”
You looked up, surprised by the softness in his voice.
He blinked, then immediately focused back on his page like he hadn’t said anything even slightly flirty.
You didn’t reply. You just smiled to yourself and highlighted the wrong word by accident.
The study session started with textbooks and ended with Lila making instant noodles for everyone and Mina snacking pretzels while pretending they’d all actually accomplished anything.
“Next time,” she said, stuffing her notes into her bag, “we need timers. And maybe duct tape for Sakuya’s mouth.”
“Oh shut up, you were the one who kept talking,” Sakuya replied proudly, swinging his backpack over one shoulder.
“Sure,” Mina said. “Mr. Chatterbox.”
They all filtered out of Lila’s house one by one, shouting over each other as they stepped into the cool evening air.
The sky was shifting to deep orange, the street glowing soft under fading light.
Ryo tugged his hoodie sleeves over his hands as he walked backward for a second. “Text me if anyone needs help on that chem worksheet.”
“You mean if Y/N needs help,” Sakuya said under his breath—but not quietly enough.
You shot him a warning glance, and he just grinned.
Ryo either didn’t hear or pretended not to, waving a lazy goodbye before heading in the opposite direction with his headphones already on his ears.
Mina turned down the main street, on the phone with someone still talking about something that sounded suspiciously like teacher gossip.
That left you and Sakuya.
The two of you turned onto the side street that cut through your neighborhood—the same quiet, slightly cracked sidewalk path you'd taken home from school plenty of times now.
Sakuya walked in silence for a few seconds, kicking a rock down the curb.
“So,” he said casually, “you like him, right?”
Your stomach dropped. “What?”
“Ryo,” he said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “You like him.”
You stared at the pavement. “That obvious?”
“Only to people who pay attention,” he said with a shrug. “Don’t worry. He hasn't caught on. The girls wouldn't tell him. Lila’s too busy writing fake fanfics in her head about our bio teacher and Mina just thinks Ryo’s incapable of emotional awareness.”
You laughed—quiet and startled.
Sakuya glanced over at you.
“But I see it. The way you look at him when he’s not paying attention. Or the way you act when he is.”
You didn’t deny it. “I don’t know what to do with it. He’s just… him. And I don’t think he thinks about me like that.”
“Honestly?” Sakuya said, sticking his hands in his pockets, “He probably doesn’t realize he likes you yet. He’s not dumb, just a little... slow about stuff like that.”
You blinked. “Wait, so you do think—?”
“I think,” he cut in gently, “he cares about you more than he knows. And if he ever figures it out, he’s gonna fall hard.”
You were quiet.
Sakuya nudged your arm with his elbow. “You don’t have to rush it. Just… keep being real with him. That’s the thing he notices.”
You smiled softly, watching as the breeze tugged at the trees along the curb.
“Thanks,” you said finally.
Sakuya grinned. “Anytime. I like being the dad of the group.”
“You’re the side character who steals every scene.”
“Exactly,” he said proudly. “I’m the comedian.”
And as you both turned the final corner toward your street, your heart felt a little fuller.
They walked a few more steps in comfortable silence, the kind that only comes when nothing feels forced.
Just as your house came into view—porch light already glowing—Sakuya suddenly slowed.
“Hey,” he said, voice a little softer than usual. “Can I tell you something too?”
You turned to him, curious. “Yeah, of course.”
He looked up at the sky for a second, hands in his pockets. “I think I might like someone.”
That surprised you more than it should have. “Oh?”
“Yeah.” He laughed under his breath, kicking at the pavement. “It’s not… super new. I just didn’t really wanna say it out loud before. Felt weird.”
“Do I know her?” you asked, even though something in your gut already guessed yes.
Sakuya shrugged, then nodded. “She’s kind of ridiculous. But smart. Funny. Gets worked up over the weirdest stuff. Has the messiest notes I’ve ever seen.”
You laughed. “You’re describing like, millions of people.”
He gave you a look and hesitated a little. “Okay, fine. It’s Lila.”
You blinked. Then grinned. “Wait. Lila?”
He ran a hand through his hair. “I know. She’d probably eat me alive.”
“She wouldn’t,” you said gently. “She teases you because you make her laugh. That’s her way of showing she’s comfortable with you.”
“Yeah?” he asked, glancing sideways at you. “You really think so?”
“I know so. She talks about you more than she realizes. It’s always ‘Sakuya this, Sakuya that.’ When we hang out. Trust me—she notices you.”
He looked down at the sidewalk and nodded, thoughtful.
“Maybe don’t confess with a dramatic speech or anything,” you added. “Just… take your time. Let her see that you’re serious.”
Sakuya smiled—small, almost shy. A rare expression from him. “Thanks. I needed someone to tell me I wasn’t being delusional.”
You bumped your shoulder against his. “You’re definitely delusional. But not about this.”
He laughed, full and warm this time, and the sound echoed slightly in the empty street.
You both reached your houses—yours on one side of the street, his on the other.
The porch light buzzed gently above you, and a quiet breeze tugged at your sleeves.
Sakuya paused on his step. “We’re kind of a mess, huh? You and Ryo, me and Lila. I'm glad I told you this.”
“Yeah,” you said with a smile. “But the good kind.”
He nodded, then gave you a salute. “Night, Y/N.”
“Night, Sakuya.”
And as you slipped inside, soft hallway light spilling onto the stairs, you thought about how strange and sweet life was lately.

The hallway buzzed with the low hum of voices, lockers clanking open, sneaker soles squeaking on polished floors.
Even though the walls were painted the same soft blue you’d seen during your school tour, somehow everything felt sharper today—louder, faster, like the first few seconds of stepping into cold water.
You clutched your schedule in one hand, backpack strap tight in the other, and tried not to look like someone brand new.
Tried not to think about how you’d only just unpacked your last moving box three days ago.
Then—
“Y/N!”
You barely turned before Lila and Mina came barreling down the hall toward you.
Mina flung an arm around your shoulder with no hesitation.
“Thank god, a familiar face. I swear every time I walk into this place it’s like someone hit shuffle on humanity.”
Lila held up a homemade sign in the shape of a marshmallow that said CABIN CREW ASSEMBLE in sparkly ink.
“I wasn’t kidding about taking over the lunch tables.”
You laughed, your chest easing a little. “Please tell me I’m not the only one internally screaming.”
Mina waved a hand. “Oh no. I had five dreams last night about walking into class with no pants.”
“Was it Algebra?” Lila asked.
“Always Algebra.”
You smiled, heart steadying.
These girls—this chaos—felt like a lifeline already.
Just as you were starting to breathe again, a familiar voice called out behind you.
“Y/N. You made it.”
You turned—and there he was.
Ryo.
Backpack slung casually over one shoulder, hair a little messier than it was at camp, but still very him.
That calm, slow smile. That quiet kind of presence that somehow always cut through noise.
Your pulse quickened before your brain could catch up.
"Y/NNIE", Ryo waved with a big smile.
“Hey,” you said, trying to sound normal but you couldn't.
“You lost yet?”
“Only emotionally.”, you say jokingly.
He grinned and reached out to tap your schedule. “We’ve got homeroom together.”
“Seriously?”
Mina leaned into Lila, stage whispering, “The rom-com writes itself.”
Ryo, without missing a beat, raised an eyebrow at them. “Are you guys always like this?”
“Yes,” they said in unison.
A new voice cut through the crowd. “Ladies, gentlemen, and chaos gremlins—good morning.”
Sakuya emerged like he was making a grand entrance, oversized hoodie, headphones around his neck, and a grin that made you instantly smile.
He bumped fists with Ryo, clapped Mina on the back, and dramatically bowed to you.
“Welcome to Hoshigaki High. We’re all slightly underqualified to be here, but we look good doing it.”
You laughed. “Nice to see not much has changed.”
“Wrong,” he said, throwing an arm around Ryo’s shoulders.
“We’ve leveled up. We’re officially the Coolest Friend Group That Didn’t Know Each Other Until Summer.”
“I was going to suggest ‘Hallway Menaces,’” Mina added.
Lila shrugged. “Or ‘The Found Family Club.’”
You smiled, the hallway fading into the background just a bit.
Because somehow, even on your first day at a brand-new school, you didn’t feel like a total outsider.
You had your people now.
And when Ryo glanced at you as the bell rang and said, “C’mon—let’s survive this together".
Homeroom 2-B wasn’t that different from your old school’s classrooms—whiteboards, mismatched desks, the faint smell of dry-erase markers and pencil shavings—but it still felt new enough to make your stomach flutter as you stepped in.
You paused at the doorway, scanning the sea of unfamiliar heads.
“Back corner,” Ryo said behind you, nodding toward two empty desks by the window.
You followed him through the aisles and slid into the seat beside him just as the bell rang.
The sunlight poured in through the windows, soft and gold across the floor, warming your hands where they rested on the desk.
A tall, tired-looking teacher in wire-rimmed glasses strolled in with a mug that said World’s Okayest Homeroom Teacher and began reading out names in a voice that made it clear this was his 23rd year of doing exactly this.
You weren’t really listening.
Your mind wandered.
Ryo sat with one leg stretched out, notebook already open on the desk beside his actual textbook. You noticed he’d doodled in the margins—tiny stars, quiet faces, random ink loops. He hadn’t said much since the bell, but his presence was... steady.
Comforting.
He looked up and caught you glancing.
You flushed. “Sorry—just zoned out.”
He smiled a little. “It’s okay. I do that all the time.”
You fiddled with your pencil, tapping the eraser against your desk.
“Does school always feel this weird after summer?”
“Yes,” he said immediately. “Even for people who didn’t just transfer.”
You exhaled a quiet laugh. “Good to know.”
“Hey,” he added after a second, voice lower,
“if you ever need help with anything here—classes, directions, avoiding certain teachers—I’ve got you.”
You blinked at him, heart doing that thing again.
“Thanks, Ryo. Seriously.”
He nodded, eyes lingering for just a second before turning back to his sketchbook.
“Anytime.”
Before you could overthink the moment, Sakuya burst into the room—late, out of breath, and waving a half-crumpled tardy slip.
“I’m here! I was helping a lost freshman emotionally recover!”
The teacher didn’t even blink. “Back seat, Mr. fujinaga.”
Sakuya plopped into the desk infront of you, leaned back, and stage-whispered, “Are we still a camp cult? Or have we gone full academic alliance now?”
You smiled, scribbling “still a cult” on a sticky note and passing it back.
Mina and Lila peeked in from the doorway a few minutes later, motioning through the glass that they were stuck in the classroom across the hall.
Mina mimed "text me everything," while Lila held up her planner like it was a threat.
You held up a peace sign and shook your head, trying not to laugh.
Eventually, the teacher passed out course schedules and gave a vague, half-hearted speech about school pride.
People scrolled through their phones or whispered behind binders.
You watched the trees sway through the window, your page half-filled with notes and half with doodles of little boats and stars.
Beside you, Ryo slid his sketchbook a few centimeters your way.
You glanced down.
He’d drawn a tiny cartoon version of you—wrapped in a blanket, holding a marshmallow on a stick, sitting by a scribbled fire.
Underneath it, in messy block letters, he’d written: "still camp core."
You looked up at him.
He didn’t say anything, but his eyes were soft. Just the ghost of a smile playing on his lips.
You bit your lip and looked away before he could catch how much you were smiling back.
Lunchtime came faster than you expected—maybe because the day didn’t feel quite as heavy as you feared.
Maybe because you kept catching Ryo doodling things beside you and pretending not to notice when you glanced.
The cafeteria was buzzing with noise, but you followed Mina and Lila out to a quieter picnic bench tucked behind the school, just under the shade of a tree that still held onto summer leaves.
The second you sat down, Mina leaned in across the table, eyes narrowed.
“Okay. Spill.”
You blinked. “What?”
Lila dropped her lunchbox with a dramatic thud.
“Don’t play innocent. You were looking at Ryo like he was made of soft piano music and flower petals.”
You opened your mouth to argue, but couldn’t. “Okay… maybe.”
“Maybe?” Mina shrieked in a whisper. “You had heart eyes! Literal heart eyes!”
“I did not!”
Lila raised an eyebrow. “Girl. You looked like you were about to compose a poem on how much you adore him”
You groaned and hid your face in your hands. “He’s just… nice. And cute. And kind of funny in this dry, sarcastic way. And—ugh.”
Mina squealed. “You’re so gone.”
You peeked through your fingers. “It’s stupid, right? I mean—we met like a month ago. What if it’s just camp goggles?”
“Nope,” Lila said firmly.
“That boy drew you a cartoon marshmallow version of yourself during homeroom. That’s not camp goggles. That’s ✨potential✨.”
Mina nodded solemnly. “And have you seen the way he looks at you? Like, the only sane person in a room full of chaos. Or maybe the other way around I don't know”
You blushed so hard you had to take a sip of your juice box just to cool down.
“What do I even do about this?”
“Play it cool,” Lila said, pointing at you like a general. “Be your chill, artistic, cute self.”
“Yeah,” Mina agreed. “And keep sitting with him. Talk about nothing. Then one day you’ll blink and realize you’re already dating.”
“I don’t know if I’m that smooth—”
“Too late,” Lila cut in. “You’re already halfway there.”
Before you could fully melt into emotional chaos, someone called out from across the yard.
“Ladies,” Sakuya declared, jogging over with a lunch tray and absolutely no chill. “Are you gossiping without me?”
He flopped onto the bench beside Mina, sandwich in hand, while she glared at him.
You tried to stay calm, even as you spotted Ryo trailing behind, hands in his pockets, sketchbook tucked under one arm.
He offered you a quiet smile as he sat across from you.
Your brain short-circuited for half a second.
“Hey,” he said.
“Hi,” you managed, instantly hyper-aware of everything: your hair, your posture, the fact that your juice box was grape and made you feel like a child.
“What were you guys talking about?” Sakuya asked suspiciously, unwrapping his sandwich with the precision of someone defusing a bomb.
“Girl stuff,” Mina said breezily.
Lila added, “And feelings. You’d combust.”
“Rude,” Sakuya gasped. “I have layers.”
Ryo smirked. “Like an onion? Shrek reference by the way”
“Like a parfait,” Sakuya corrected with dignity. “Anyway, I’ll have you know I’m great with emotional topics.”
He looked right at you. “So, girls—any romantic developments in your life lately?”
You choked on your juice.
Mina and Lila practically slapped each other under the table to stay quiet.
Ryo looked at Sakuya with a raised brow. “Subtle.”
“Thank you,” Sakuya said proudly.
You coughed and waved him off. “Nope. Zero. My romantic life is as active as a rock in a museum.”
“Oh no,” Lila deadpanned. “I think it moved. Must be spring.”
Everyone burst out laughing, and the tension dissolved into something soft and easy.
You caught Ryo looking at you again, something gentle in his expression, like maybe he enjoyed this too.
Maybe he felt it too.
As the group settled into the rhythm of eating and joking and tossing random chips into each other’s trays, you felt something warm bloom in your chest.
“You guys are literally unhinged,” Ryo said, shaking his head fondly as Sakuya tried to stack potato chips into a tower on Mina’s sandwich.
“It’s called innovation,” Sakuya replied, placing another chip carefully. “Next I’m applying for a patent.”
Lila flicked one of the chips off. “Denied.”
Ryo laughed—one of those soft, breathy laughs that wasn’t loud, but made your stomach flip anyway.
You caught yourself staring again. Not just at him, but at all of them. This moment. How easy it had become.
“So,” Lila said, looking pointedly between you and Ryo, “who’s in charge of teaching Y/N the secret school hacks?”
“I thought that was you,” Mina offered.
“I’m more of the chaos elective. You need someone for core subjects first.”
“Ryo’s got her in homeroom,” Sakuya chimed in, chewing casually.
“Pretty sure that makes him her official tour guide slash emotional support student.”
Ryo raised an eyebrow but didn’t argue. “I don’t mind.”
You looked at him. “You sure? I don’t want to slow you down or—”
“You won’t,” he said simply.
Then, after a beat, “Besides, someone’s gotta make sure you don’t get lost in the art hallway. It’s like a maze in there.”
“Oh no,” Mina groaned. “That hallway smells like paint water and heartbreak.”
“I think the sculpture wing’s cursed,” Lila added. “There’s this weird dent in the floor by the clay sinks, and no one knows why.”
You snorted. “Okay, now I’m truly scared.”
Ryo smiled at you, just enough to make you feel a little dizzy again.
“Stick with us. We’ll show you the good vending machines and the bathroom with the working hand dryers.”
“Truly elite knowledge,” Sakuya said proudly. “This is why we’re the real student council.”
“I thought you told me you were banned from the real student council,” Lila said.
“Details.”
Lunch stretched on with overlapping conversations and traded snacks.
You gave Mina your extra cookie, and Lila started sketching in the corner of her planner—tiny stick figures labeled “us but hotter.”
It felt… right.
You weren’t just floating on the edge of someone else’s group anymore. You were part of it.
And when Ryo handed you half of his chocolate bar without saying a word, you didn’t overthink it.
You just smiled, took it, and let your fingers brush his on purpose this time.
His eyes flicked up to meet yours. Neither of you looked away for a second longer than necessary.
Then Sakuya dropped his entire sandwich in his lap, and everyone burst out laughing again.
“RIP to a real one,” Mina said solemnly.
“I knew him well,” Ryo added, raising the last chip in tribute.
Lunch wound down in a blur of laughter, crumpled napkins, and lingering sunlight.
One by one, the group started gathering their trays and backpacks, still joking as they stood.
Mina and Lila linked arms with you on either side, dragging you up with dramatic groans about “returning to the academic battlefield,” while Sakuya insisted on walking backwards just to keep talking.
Ryo hung back slightly, falling into step beside you as the group moved toward the building.
He didn’t say much—just offered you a crooked half-smile when your eyes met.
But somehow, it was enough to leave your heart a little lighter, and your steps a little softer.
You loved this.

synopsis —---
chan asks you to go watch the sunset at the beach with him but with the condition that you must wear a sundress. very odd condition but you agree
—-- ⪩⪨⪩⪨
You went through your closet, throwing clothes out onto the ground.
“Where is it...?” you mutter as your search went on.
You were looking for something in specific. It was like it vanished— oh wait silly you, your light blue sundress had fallen off the hanger and into your belt basket. You thought you were going crazy but it was just in your closet. You mentally face palm.
Your friend Chan, yes the Bangchan of stray kids asked you to go for a walk on the beach with him today. You agreed because who in their right mind would turn down, Chan? You may have had a crush on him for a couple months now... I mean come on, it's the Christopher Chan—who wouldn't have a crush on him. Though of course you were stuck in the friendzone. He was clearly too busy to date and well he was most certainly not interested in you. But being his friend was enough. That's what you told yourself.
You two had a mutual friend, Changbin and that's how you met Chan and the rest of the kids. Lately though, you noticed that Chan had been texting you more often and hanging out when he had time, just the two of you, alone. He said he liked your company, that comment had made your stomach erupt into a million butterflies but you had to be nonchalant, you learned the best from Minho and Seungmin.
Anyways, back to the date—I mean the hangout with Chan. You couldn't let your delulus take over you, not today. He had specifically asked you to wear a sundress, he knew of your huge collection since those were your favorite things to wear. Who were you to deny him?
You begin to get ready at around 5:40. He asked to meet at 7 to watch the sunset together. That would have been the most romantic thing ever if it wasn't for the cough barrier called friendship cough.
You took an everything shower. You felt refreshed and a bit tired but it was worth it. You got ready, doing your hair and makeup, and putting your clothes on. You spray some perfume before you deeming yourself ready. You put on your sandals and grab your bag. You look great, that you couldn't deny. You sure hope Chan thought so too. Time to head to the beach.
⪩⪨
You arrive at the beach, and find Chan already there. He was leaning against his car on his phone, his eyebrows furrow at whatever it was on the screen. He looks annoyed.
“Hi, Chan.” He looks up at you, whatever annoyance that was on his face melts as soon as he looks at you
“Y/N! You're here. Wow I really love your dress.” He compliments. Your heart literally stops.
“Ah—Thank you! I like your outfit too.” He looks like a whole meal in his white button down shirt that were short sleeved. He has three buttons unbuttoned which gave a nice view of the top his chest. And his forehead was exposed, what a deadly combo.
    “Shall we get going?”
You two head onto the beach, you walk for a bit chatting and laughing like old friends. The sun was near setting now. You had both ditched your sandals to go stand in the shallow tide. The water was cool as it rushed to your feet before pulling back in hushed whispers. The sun reflected onto the water giving the world a warmish glow. It was a couple hours after golden hour yet this moment still felt golden in your treasured memories.
Chan suddenly takes your hands into his, he stares into your eyes making you feel nervous. The sunset breeze was cool compared to earlier's humid air. The golden colors of the sunset reflect on your eyes making you 10x prettier in his eyes.
“Y/N. Let me get to the point... I brought you here for a reason.” you tilt your head slightly. Your eyes on him, steady because you're afraid if you let yourself you would have collapsed from the way he was making eye contact with you. “I spent all day trying to figure out how to tell you, practiced a speech in front of the mirror and everything. But I guess I got too nervous as I was driving here so I forgot everything I rehersed. I know, that was very dumb. So I'll just freestyle this from the bottom of my heart.
“Y/N everytime I look at you, you make me feel nervous but in a good way. You make time stop each time you look at me with those pretty eyes of yours, my heart starts to race and I can't help it. Truthfully I like you. I like you a lot to the point of loving. Fuck I love you, Y/N. You mean so much to me. I can't live without you, your smile, your laugh, the way you bite your lip when youre nervous and how your nose scrunches up when you smile. I love every single part of you but it hurts to think that you aren't mine, hurts to know that someone else out there could come and snatch you up at any given moment. So I was hoping, really hoping you'd give me the chance to be your boyfriend. I'll make sure you won't regret it.” He quickly rushes out out of pure nerves, just speaking whatever that comes from the bottom of his heart. You were speechless, surprised that your friend was really confessing to you right now. Your heart flutters at his sweet words. When he notices you haven't said a word yet, he starts to panic, “Ah of course you don't have to say yes or anything. You could reject me right now, I'll be able to take it even if it hurts a little or a lo-”
You shut him up by kissing him, now it was his turn to be surprised. He relaxes from whatever panic he was feeling and kisses your soft lips gently, his hand going to the back of your head.
You both finally part for air, faces flushed pink in the salty air. “I'd love for you to be my boyfriend, Channie.”
You smile that smile he loves as you take his hand.
“I didn't know I'd be one of the lucky ones to see your romantic sides. I've only heard about it.” You giggle.
“Yeah? Well now you'll be the only one to see my romantic side.” He says.
“I like that but I don't know how STAYs would feel about that. You know your babygirls love their rizz daddy.” You tease. He groans loudly, the tips of his ears turning red. “I guess I'm one lucky STAY.”
You smile up at him. The ocean rushes, hugging your ankles again with it's last calm whisper of gold before the sun sunk down. Leaving the sky dark with tints of pink and purple. You hadn't really thought on the troubles dating a kpop idol would bring because of their fandoms but you were too happy, too in the moment to even care. You could worry about that stuff later. Right now, you have Chan right in front of you as your boyfriend. Somewhere between the silent gazing of you both, the gap between you had become significantly smaller. You take this chance and close the gap. His lips are soft, he tasted fainty of strawberries.
The sandals were long forgotten just like the sun that had disappeared when it had set. The calm ocean hugs your ankles once more as a congrats to the new couple. This blue sundress had become your favorite just because of the sole memory of how you two got together.
