𓍼ོ chapter 004 milkshakes and strange boys

you took a step forward, the boys back facing you, slightly more intimidating than you expected. the thought of turning back around and out the store did cross your mind, but the vinyl kept pulling you in.

then it happened.

you tapped his shoulder, he turned around quicker than you could process, and you were- in love? well, not in love, but in awe. he was attractive, definitely your type, and you found yourself at a loss for words. then you looked down, and saw the record in his hands. ok, game on.

“sorry to bother you, but i just saw you had the [band name] vinyl and i had to come by. i love them!”

the boys confused and somewhat scared expression turned into one of excitement. “wow, i’ve never met anyone who liked them before.” he says, turning to face you now interested in this conversation.

a couple minutes of sharing your love for the band, quickly turned to an hour walking around the store- wrapped in deep conversation. before you knew it, you were walking alongside each other, on the way to your favorite diner.

walking into the diner, you felt… weird. it’s the weekend, and at this hour you see people in love- just enjoying each others company. they laugh and share straws, they feed each other and get complimented by others. you can’t remember the last time you enjoyed someone’s company in that way. yes you’ve been single for a month, but your relationship was doomed long before that.

“here, i found us a booth” he says, already waiting for you a couple of steps away. you smiled, walking over and taking a seat across from him. its odd how comfortable you feel in this moment, with this guy you met 2 hours before. you can’t remember already imagine the look on your friends faces when you debrief on your “not so solo date”.

once seated, you looked over menus and discussed what’s good, which fell on you since he hadn’t been there. after a couple minutes, the waitress finally made her way to your booth.

“wow what a lovely couple!” you both awkwardly laughed, not wanting to confront the waitress’s kind words. you could feel the tip of your ears turn red, the heat radiating off into space. you hope he doesn’t see this.

you both order, and again get engulfed in conversation as you wait. everything he said surprised you. his positive attitude, his humor, his interested, and all with a gentle voice that you weren’t used to. all your friends were loud and opinionated, and your ex was energetic and active. this guy was all of that, but soft. he was charming although he seemed shy. you’re sure he must have made a lot of girls happy in the past, if he doesn’t have a girlfriend now.

after you get your milkshakes, you sit at the diner for the next 2 hours- though it felt like 10 minutes. it’s dark when you step outside, and reality starts to set in. you’re ready to go your separate ways, to say goodbye and go back to your boring life of mourning.

“let me take you home” oh? he’s offering something you can’t resist in this dark evening. and so you accept, mostly because he said he didn’t feel good about making a pretty girl walk alone, which flustered you more than you would like to admit.

the boy insisted on walking you home, saying his place was nearby as well. the first couple of minutes were filled with chatter and laughs, both sharing details about their last few months. nothing personal, just funny stories and an exchange of hobbies and interests. as you approached your street, you were submerged in a comfortable silence. you wonder if silence was ever comfortable with your ex.

the last month or so of your relationship consisted of fights, yelling, and storming off. then came the silence. so much silence, it was as if you had already broken up. like the line was disconnected and no one wanted to fix it. from then on you thought silence was always painful, but right now it’s not so bad.

you made your way down the empty street until you reached your apartment complex. “this is me. you really didn’t have to walk me all the way here but, thank you.” he shook his head, looking down at his feet and then right back up at you. “it’s okay, i live close by actually so you were on the way.” you let your mind wonder for 2 seconds, trying to decipher where he could live, before you responded.

“there has to be a way for me to repay you.” he shook his head no, offering you a smile before taking a small step towards you, who stood at the top step leading to your front door. “honestly, seeing you again is enough for me.” you felt something bubble up in your stomach, but you ignored it. this has been a good day, and from past experiences with men- it’s best not to get your hopes up or dwell on your feelings.

you chuckled, taking a step back towards your entrance. “i can do that” you say, offering him a smile before turning to unlock your door, before turning around to wave. “i guess i’ll see you around” he said, waiting for you to step through the doorway before he takes his leave.

How does F1 star and international heartthrob Lee Heeseung prepare for a race the night before? What the press will never know is that his good luck charm is spending the evening before with his head on your chest as your fingers softly run through his hair while the movie Cars 2 plays on the hotel TV.

Since the beginning of your relationship the two of you decided that no matter what, you did not stay in his room the night before a race. He had a strict schedule to follow and he needed to stay focused. Waking up next to you has become one of his favorite sights but his routine was not something you were going to mess with. That’s why the night before you spend as much time with him as possible.

“How do you feel about tomorrow?” You ask softly as you continue your ministrations

“Mmm worried but nothing overbearing” he says without opening his eyes.

You however… are worried. You trust him and his abilities but the fact that it’s going to be raining HARD for the entire race will never not cause a feeling on uncertainty to fill your chest. Obviously the officials will stop the race if needed but you will worry nonetheless.

“Hmm that’s good” you respond

“I know you worry but I’ll be okay” he opens his eyes and grabs your hand bringing it down so he can give it a soft kiss

“I know… i’ll worry anyways. Someone has to worry for the both of us” you say playfully

He chuckles lightly at your response “mmkay”

The rest of the evening was spent with soft conversation flowing between the two of you until it’s time for you to go back to your room.

“I’ll look for you in the crowd before the race” he says softly leaving pecks on your face as you stand at the door to his hotel room

You smile softly “i know you will”

“Goodnight love”

The next day came quickly and now you find yourself checking your hair and makeup in the mirror before finally heading to the track.

Today is the Monaco grand prix so the narrow roads mixed with the downpour to come… let’s just say your nerves were on edge.

You took your seat in one of the boxes as you see his car head out onto the track for the formation lap.

“Please… don’t do anything stupid” you whisper out to yourself watching the lights click down.

They weren’t even halfway through the 6th lap beford the rain begin to fall. What started as small drops trickling down the window in front of you quickly changed to a much stronger shower.

You watched with bated breath as Heeseung is one of the first drivers to pit for wets. Hopefully the early change of tires will get him an advantage.

The race continued with Heeseung up in P2 behind his rival Park Jongseong in his red Ferrari. The gap getting smaller and smaller as the laps continue.

Monaco is already a tough track to overtake on but in the rain? Risky.

The race has continued through the rain with Heeseung keeping good pace with Jongseong as they near the end of the race. That is until McLaren’s Sim Jaeyun runs into the barriers and causes a red flag.

As they wait for the track to be cleared the TV catches Heeseung and his team mamd the decision to switch back to dry tires. There’s only 3 laps left in the race and the rain did slow, so if the rain holds off he’ll have an advantage, if the rain continues to pour when they get back on track, he could drop to P3 or even P4 so when they get ready to restart and the rain halted, you watch in anticipation.

As they zip back around the track on the finaly lap, you notice Heeseung aggressively trying to overtake. Your breath held as Heeseung is able to get the inside corner on turn 17 as he finally pulls ahead of the Ferrari.

By the time he crosses the finish line you’re jumping out of your chair with tears streaming down your cheeks.

When Heeseung finally embraces you he smells strongly of sweat and the champagne that was sprayed on him at the trophy presentation.

“God i’m so proud of you Hee” you say with a smile as you cup his face

“I couldn’t have done it without you love” he says leaning his forehead on yours. You savor the moment of him being so close in your hold.

“I love you Heeseung”

“I love you so much more”

Before you could even argue his statement his lips are on yours as you both smile into the kiss.

You don’t let yourself get too into it as you know he still has press to do but it you still savor the feeling of him in your hold before he’s eventually called away by his PR team.

As you return to his room to watch his interview on the TV after chatting with some mechanics you were familiar with, you catch the end of his interview.

“Heeseung what does this win mean to you” the reporter asks

“Getting my first win means the world to me. I’ve received so much support from so many people in my life and this win was all for them. It was extra special knowing that I got to have my first win with the love of my life watching” he responds with a soft smile

Your heart races at the last statement as you know it just as well as he does that you are stuck with him and you are more than happy with that.

note: this was a little short fic in honor of the start of the F1 race!

you needed a day of relaxation, of doing something you loved- and gaming was just that. you made your way to your favorite gaming cafe, ordered some food and got to business. in walks heeseung, finding an empty spot beside you. first he’d look over slightly to see what you were playing, and then he leaned in until you couldn’t ignore him. after some small talk and a couple rounds together, he had asked for your number so you could “play” in the future. you would then become his long term gaming partner.

jay ⊂⊃ cooking show audience

jay was ecstatic when he found out he won a chance to be in the audience of his favorite cooking competition. making his way through the crowd, he was in search of his chair number. it so happened that your chairs were right next to each other, and so small talk erupted between the two. little did you know, jay thought you were gorgeous, and he could barely focus on your words or the rest of the competition. his mind was all you, and anytime you talked to him he got red.

jake ⊂⊃ batting cages

you and your friend had decided to go down to the batting cages, a fun activity you like to partake in. you called ahead and chose a time, but when entering the next day, jake and ni-ki were already using the space. after a couple arguments, and a talk with the manager, you found out the space was double booked. jake suggested you all share the space- leaving your friend and ni-ki 3rd wheeling. you ended up beating him, and let’s just say the rest is history.

sunghoon ⊂⊃ furniture store

tasked with decorating his own bedroom, sunghoon had made his way up to his favorite furniture store. he had been walking down the isles aimlessly, stopping dead in his tracks when he saw your body sprawled across a big bed. noticing his presence, you sat up, telling him you were testing the comfortability of the mattress. somehow, your trip ended with both of you laying on this bed, reviewing it to each other, until you were kicked out of the store. it was a great bonding moment that would kickstart your love story.

sunoo ⊂⊃ friends party

sunoo was no stranger to social events, and neither were you. you were only strangers to each other, because although you had many friends in common, you had never met. that is until sunoo made his way to the outdoor patio where you sat alone, needing a breather. he approached you, taking a seat next to you- and the conversation flowed perfectly. you realized you were very alike in mindset and personality, so it was only natural for you to fall for each other as this “friendship progressed.

jungwon often likes to clear his mind by going on walks, no matter the time. on this particular night, he had been strolling down a trail around a park, when he noticed you a couple feet ahead, seemingly lost in your own thoughts. he noticed your steps slow down, until he was pretty much right beside you. that’s when he saw the tears sliding down your cheek, prompting him to quickly rise to action, asking you if you’re okay. the night was then spent with him comforting you, a stranger, and both of you unknowingly falling in love with each other.

ni-ki ⊂⊃ clothing store pop-up

you and ni-ki were two strangers, connected by your love for fashion. there was a week where your favorite streetwear brand was doing a pop-up store near your neighborhood, so of course you decided to go. walking in, you find your favorite hoodie and quickly go to grab it, until you feel another hand on yours. ni-ki has reached for the same item, and you were both left staring into each other’s eyes until he retracted his hand, reluctantly giving you permission to take the hoodie. while he didn’t get what he wanted, he did mange to walk out with your number.
