Kayden-Kartein dynamic & How They Protect + Bicker

In the 3rd panel, I’ve notice Kartein’s visible worries when he inquired about Kayden’s whereabouts, stating: “Kayden?” after the impact during the fight. I find this really endearing, even when they bicker and banter about not being “friends” they constantly protect eachother, Kayden confirms it with Jiyoung, when Kartein was healing Jiwoo after his core shattered, and Subin’s Grandpa, when Kartein healed him because of Kayden’s foolishnesses.

Kartein mentions Kayden as a “Crazed Fighter” like how he mentions Kayden’s disciple, Jiwoo. Kartein is basically saying, “like father like son.” which is true, however, when you look at it you can see he’s worried and fear Kayden will truly get hurt, that’s he’s being too reckless because he got fully recovered.

Although they won’t admit it, they both enjoy eachother company, they are quite fond of eachother bur still continue to bicker LMFAO. They compliment eachother very well, Kartein famed for being #1 healer, and the other is an infamous strong fighter. I enjoy how in any english translation of them, it’s clear Kartein somewhat waited for him to save him, and Kayden replies with a “it’s not like you were…” however, Kartein was doing exactly it. Kayden and Kartein both feel very upset when Asta attempts to cage Kartein, using him as a way to get stronger. Kayden and Kartein expresses anger and disgust for his arrogance he’s “just like the others”.

In many #kartein posts, there are many mentions of Kayden with him. They share a brain cell, with Kayden’s clear foolish intentions striking the sharp elegant Kartein is mad funny.

why do you think kayden is here, kartein. he has literally been standing on guard every single time you’ve healed someone in this damn webtoon without being asked to (and the one time he wasn’t he killed the guy who hurt you), i really don’t think you have to worry about that

ive seen people compare kartein and kayden’s friendship to subin and jisuk’s but. the more i read the more im like. does kayden ever even argue with kartein bc i swear like 90% of the time he just goes along with what kartein asks without complaining??? it’s only when kartein literally calls him stupid that he gets aggressive but whenever kartein makes demands kayden’s just like “ok babe” girl stand UP
