We spent a couple of days on editing our film to make sure that we deliver a well made media piece

Shoot day 3 (40)

On shoot day 3, we had waited for sundown to film the scene where the main character and his two friends are walking on the pathway and suddenly his friends disappear, and it follows him into a dark room, where the film concludes with the main character and the ghost coming in a terrifying face to face.

on this day, we had the shot the scene where the main character walks into the kitchen and had caught the movement of the dark figure in his peripheral vision and we had also shot the scene where the main character saw the ghost in the balcony

On shoot day 1 we had shot the scene where the main character wakes up and goes into the bathroom scene and on the same day we had shot the scene where the main character enters the lift to contact his friends to urgently meet him

This picture marks the filming of the scene where we shot the main character waking up and going in and out of the washroom

We as a team had also shot some extra shots, of the main characters friends meeting the main character in the garden, however this scene was kept as a back up

The school hosted their annual Sports day event, which allows students to showcase their physical skills, such as speed, and strength and as well as their dance skills.

Our school assigned some of the media students to click pictures and videos for the school and take content ranging from the pre primary activities to the senior race events. This allowed all of us including me to have an experience behind the camera and not in the camera.

Shoot Day 1 (Practice shoot) (35)

SHOOT DAY 1

We took this day as an opportunity to gain experience with the camera, we took time to calculate and analyze areas in the room where we could plan our shots from, which allowed us to gain experience.

As noticed, the practice day helped us improve communications with another and helped us with team work, making the planning for the final shoot convenient

Detailed explanation of the story:

In the morning, the boy who is the protagonist, wakes up due to his alarm groggily, he takes a moment to stretch and wake up properly, he uses his remote to lift up the blinds in his room, allowing the sunlight in. After he stands up he walks into the bathroom, in order to start the day afresh with a clear mind. In this scene we shot it using a high angle and a over the shoulder shot when the main character was looking outside and using the tilt movement

He exits the bathroom, feeling fresh and alert and he exits the room, heading for the kitchen. A over the shoulder shot was used to show the main character enter the bathroom and then it was cut to a wide shot of the main character exiting the bathroom.

As he searches his fridge for consumables to increase his energy and satisfy, his hunger, suddenly a mysterious entity, with a dark appearance rushes past the corner of his eye, striking mystery and fear into him. In this scene a mid shot was used to show his peripheral vision catching the dark figure.

He takes it with a grain of salt and later in the day he proceeds to walk to his balcony where he takes a moment to view the city, until the moment is again interrupted with the ghost in the dark appearance standing at the corner of his eye, this time, striking fear, but still skeptic about what has just happened, he decides to ignore it by rubbing his eyes and leaving. The balcony scene was shot using a wide shot to show the main character and his surroundings and then as the dark figure appears the camera pans to the right to show the main characters face and the close up shot was used to show the facial expressions

in the afternoon, he leaves his residence to meet with his friends, where he messages them via phone, struck by what he has witnessed twice in the same day. A close up shot of the phone was used to show the communication of the main character to his friends

Time passes by and its night, where they are still conversing about the incident at the protagonists house, suddenly he looks back and he notices that both of his friends have vanished into thin air and he too had hallucinated the meet up, this makes the boy scared and makes him run in panic into a room in the vicinity. A tracking shot was used to show the main character run after he notices his friends disappear from his sides

scared and struck with fear, he runs into the corner of the room and he weeps and screams in fear when he sees the ghost that he saw earlier in the day stand right before him, this shakes him in terror and he forces his body against the wall trying desperately to avoid the situation. In this shot a two shot was used to show the difference between being fierce and being a man struck with fear

Outline plot (32)

Plot for the film

The film revolves around a boy with phasmophobia, or the fear of ghosts, his fear of ghosts reaches such a high intensity that he starts to hallucinate these realities of seeing entities. He tries to deal with these mind bending hallucinations by speaking to his friend, until he realizes that they were subjects to his hallucinations as well. This causes the boy to panic, and the film ends with the boy screaming and weeping in fear as the ghost he hallucinates stands before him, approaching the boy

The genre we decided for the short film, is horror.
