The Sun and Moon are sister and brother

Once upon a time, there lived a mother who has one boy and a girl child. The mother and the 2 children lived lived happily together in their house which was located deep inside the woods.

Since they had a poor living, the mother of the two children went to the town which was located below the woods to work for a living.

“Kids, you must not open the door until I come back from work. Do you understand?”

The mother of the two children told her kids a warning very firmly and went down the path of the woods

After working very hard for the whole day, the mother of the two kids earned some rice cake and started to head to her house.

Something happened when she was just about to pass the first hill heading to her house.

“Sniff, sniff. I smell the spicy fragrance of a delicious rice cake. I won’t eat you if you give me one of your rice cake!”

A huge tiger was blocking the way of the mother on her way home.

The mother gave the huge tiger one of her soft rice cake while shivering.

Again, something happened to the mother when she was just about to pass the second hill heading to her house.

“I won’t eat you if you give me one of your rice cake.

The mother of two children had no choice but to give the tiger one of her rice cake again.

The huge tiger appeared in front of the mother every time she passed a hill leading to her house.

Finally, the mother gave all of the rice cake she had to the tiger which kept appearing in front of her.

“I only have one hill to pass until I arrive at my house. However, I only have one rice cake left. What should I do?”

The mother was shivering, and her legs were shaking in fear.

Again, something happened when she was just about to pass the last hill leading to her house.

“I won’t eat you if you give me one of your rice cake!”

“Ti, Tiger, I don’t have any more rice cake left to give you. Please spare my life.”

“What? You don’t have any rice cake? Then I have no other choice than eating you. Roar!”

The tiger swallowed up the mother in a blink of the eyes.

The tiger changed into the clothes of the mother and headed to the house where two children were staying at.

“Kids, you must be hungry. Mom is here. Please open the door.”

“Huh? Our mother’s voice is much slender and soft.”

The younger sister said.

“My voice was hoarsed by the cold wind.”

“Then show us your hand.”

The big brother told the tiger suspiciously.

The tiger showed them it’s hand through the space between the door.

The hand was very big and hairy.

The big brother felt something strange and peaked through the space between the door.

But it was a tiger wearing their mom’s clothes standing in front of their door!

“It is not our mother, it is a tiger. We must run away quickly.”

The big brother held on to his younger sister’s hand and sneaked out the house through the back door.

The two kids sneaked to the backyard and went up the tree which was located next to the well.

The tiger burst into the room a bit late.

“Roar, they ran away through the back door!”

The tiger hurried out to the backyard.

“Oh, you hid inside the well!”

The reflection of the two children showed up inside the well.

The tiger tried it’s best to catch the two children inside the well.

The younger sister giggled at the sight of the tiger.

“You fool! We are up here on the tree!”

The tiger looked up the tree.

“Right, you are up on the tree.”

The tiger tried it’s best to get up the tree.

However, it slipped every time.

“Kids, how did you get up there?”

“We but oil on our feet and climbed up here.”

The big brother told the tiger while teasing it

The tiger but oil all over its feet and started to climb up the tree.

However, every time it tried to go up the tree, the tiger slipped and fell on its butt.

The younger sister giggled at the ridiculous sight of the tiger and started to tease the tiger.

“you fool. We climbed up the tree while chopping the tree with an ax!”

The tiger got the idea and went back to get an ax. When the tiger came back, it started to climb up the tree while chopping the tree with it’s ax.

The big brother and younger sister started to shiver in fear because they were trapped at the top of the tree with nowhere to escape.

The big brother started to praise at the sky with his two hands clasped together.

“If you want to save us from this critical situation, please send down a tight rope from the sky. On the other hand, if you want to kill us, please send down a rotten rope.”

The younger sister praised with her big brother while crying in fear.

Suddenly, a rope fell down gently from the sky.

The big brother and younger sister held on to the rope which fell from the sky and went up higher and higher up the sky.

After seeing the sight of what the big brother and younger sister did, the tiger started to praise to the sky just like the two children did.

“If you want to save me, please send down a tight and strong rope from the sky. On the other hand, if you want to kill me, please send down a rotten rope.”

In surprise, a rope fell down from the sky after a few minutes

The tiger held on to the rope quickly and started to go higher and higher up to the sky.

However, after a few moment passed, the rope snapped.

“Arggg! Please save me!”

The rope that the tiger held on to was a rotten rope that the sky had sent him.

The tiger died after falling into the corn field.

A saying that the corn field was dyed red because of the blood of the tiger after it fell from the sky.

On the other hand, the two children who arrived at the sky was turned into a sun and a moon. The big brother was turned into a sun and the younger sister was turned into a moon. They both lighted the whole world.

One day, the younger sister told her big brother something.

“Brother, I get scared a lot at night since it is very dark.”

So the big brother decided to become a moon instead of his younger sister. So the younger sister became the sun.

However, the younger sister was very shy when everyone looked at her at daytime.

So she decided to shine more brightly so that nobody can stare at her because their eyes would dazzle if they do.

After getting half of the fortune of Grandfather Whang, the old grandfather was able to live in a very big house.

There were servants who served many delicious food when the old grandfather just said what he want.

The old grandfather ate, slept, and ate, slept all day long since he had nothing fun to do.

“Oh my, I can’t live like this anymore. I was able to stay like this for a few days but not anymore.

Oh gosh, I am way too bored!”

The old grandfather who could not bare anything boring wanted to do something fun.

So the old grandfather lied down on the floor and fanned himself slowly with a red folding fan.

‘What will happen if my nose keeps on growing?’

The old grandfather decided to fan himself continuously with a red folding fan with curiouscity.

His long nose started to grow longer and longer and it broke through the roof.

“Bang!” “Oh my!”

The old grandfather was more curious about what would happen rather than caring about his injury.

Every time he fanned himself, his nose grew longer like a rubber band.

The birds flying by saw the nose up from the sky and picked on it.

“Oh! What is this? It hurts.”

Even though his nose hurt, the old grandfather kept on fanning himself.

He felt fresh air when his nose grew taller through the clounds.

The old grandfather’s nose grew longer and longer until it reached the heaven.

At that moment, the Great Jade Emperor was taking a walk around the garden.

“Huh? What is that?”

“W,well. It is something I hae never seen before. It keeps on growing while twitching sometimes.”

The servants didn’t know what to say since they were also confused.

At that time, the old grandfather felt his nose tickle too much.

“AH,AH, Achew!”

When the old grandfather coughed, all the snot and boogers blasted onto the Great Jade Emperor’s face.

“Oh that mean thing. Hey, go ahead and tie that thing tightly with a rope!”

“Oh my, why is my nose feeling so stuffy? Sniff Sniff, I should start shrinking my nose now.”

The old grandfather quickly started to fan himself slowly with a blue folded fan.

But something very strange happened.

When the old grandfather fanned himself with a blue folded fan, his nose started to shrink. However, instead of his nose shrinking in size, the body of the old grandfather started to rise higher and higher up to the sky.

“Wow, my body in floating in mid-air. This is very amazing!”

The old grandfather started to get very excited about the fact that he was going up higher and higher into the sky. So the old grandfather kept on fanning himself with the blue folded fan.

The old grandfather went up higher and higher into the air passing through the broken rooftop.

“Oh my, I really feel like I turned into a bird!”

The body of the old grandfather floated up into the sky like a balloon.

When the old grandfather was just about to reach the heaven, something bad happened

At that time, the cleaner of the garden which is located on heaven, was just about to clean the garden.

There, he saw something strange tied up to a pillar twitching sometimes.

“Hmm… Who let this dirty thing tied up to this pillar?”

The cleaner quickly untied the strange thing from the pillar and started to clean the garden again

Well..  What would have happened to the old grandfather after his nose got untied  from the pillar located up on heaven?

“Oh  my! Please save me!”

The  old grandfather had no choice but to fall down to the ground from the sky.

A long, long time ago, there lived a grandfather who could not bare becoming bored.

“Oh my, I am too bored! It’s too boring to spend my time like this!”

The old grandfather could not bare one minute to stay very calm.

He went here and there to find something fun to do.

One  day, the old grandfather found a silk pocket on the path searching for  something to do.

“Hmm?  What is this? This pocket looks like it contains something in it.”

The  old grandfather was very curious about the thing inside the silk pocket.

So he  opened the pocket. Inside of the pocket, there was a red folding fan and a  blue folding fan.

The old grandfather started to fan himself slowly with a red folding fan.

The cool wind started to blow.

However, the old grandfather felt his nose started to tickle and flinch. His nose started to feel weird.

When the old grandfather touched his nose, his nose had already grown longer than its normal size.

“Oh my, what should I do with my nose?”

The old grandfather started to fan himself slowly with a blue folding fan while thinking about actions he can take to solve this problem.

When he started to fan himself with a blue folding fan, his nose started to grow smaller again!

“Hey, this is interesting. This is a magic folding fan!"

The old grandfather thought it was funny to change his nose’s size longer and shorter.

A good idea came up to the old grandfather’s mind while he was playing with his magic folding fans.

The old grandfather decided to visit Whang grandfather with his magic folding fans.

Whang grandfather was one of the rich people in his town.

“Whang grandfather, is it okay if I tell you a funny story? It will blow away your stress due to the hot weather.

“Ho ho. I was just about to get bored.”

The old grandfather started to fan grandfather Whang with a red folding fan while telling him a funny story.

Then, the nose of grandfather Whang started to grow longer and longer.

Grandfather Whang laughed to the story of the old grandfather without knowing what was happening to his nose.

‘This looks just about right.’

The next day, a strange rumor was spread through out the old grandfather’s town.

“Did you hear that grandfather Whang got an unfixable sickness.”

“Well, his nose has grown longer without his knowing it”

Everyone in town in an undertone.

The old grandfather giggled to himself after hearing the news about grandfather Whang.

Grandfather Whang tried to shorten his nose asking for help to numerous doctors who are well known for their skills.

However, those efforts were useless.

“Oh my, what should I do with my nose?”

Finally, grandfather Whang posted a notice all around the town.

“I will give anyone who can fix my disease half of my fortune.”

Many people started to gather up at grandfather Whang’s house. They all wanted to get a portion of grandfather Whang’s fortune.

Grandfather Whang did everything that people asked him to do in order to shorten his nose. He hit his nose, dipped it in hot water, and even pressed it hard with a cloth.

However, these actions were no use

Grandfather Whang started to get exhausted with his long nose.

‘Well, I should start going.”

The old grandfather gathered up a fake medicine which is actually made from bean flour and his magic blue folding fan. And he went to see grandfather Whang.

“Grandfather Whang, I found some great medicine made from a great doctor.”

Grandfather Whang swallowed up the fake medicine as soon as the old grandfather handed it to him.

While grandfather Whang ate the medicine, the old grandfather started to fan grandfather Whang slowly with a magic blue folding fan.

Grandfather Whang quickly touched his nose.

“Oh wow! My nose is its normal size again! My nose is short again.”

Grandfather Whang grasped the old grandfather’s hand feeling very excited.

“I was able to fix my disease in the help of you my friend. As I promised, I will give you half of my fortune.���

Due to his magic folding fan, the old grandfather was able to become very rich.

Red Bean Porridge Grandmother and Tiger (1/2)

There once lived a grandmother who sold bean soup for a living.

So why is she called the bean soup grandmother?

The bean soup grandmother was very famous in her town for making the best bean soup.

Once you tasted the sweet soft grandmother’s bean soup, you will not be able to forget about it’s taste.

One day, the bean soup grandmother was stirring her precious bean soup.

Suddenly, one tiger started to come towards the bean soup grandmother.

“Roar, Roar!”

“Oh my gosh!”

The bean soup grandmother was so surprised that she fell down on her hips while shivering.

“Roar! I have no choice but to swallow you up, grandmother!”

When the bean soup grandmother heard about that, she started to tear up and said

“Oh, tiger! Is it okay if you come back at winter time?

I have planted so many beans to make my precious bean soup….

When you come back at winter, you can eat the bean soup that I make, and eat me too.”

The tiger started to think deeply about the bean soup grandmother’s suggestion.

“Hmm.. Eat the bean soup and the grandmother?

That sounds pretty good. Then see you later at winter time! Roar!”

After saying those words, the tiger went back to his forest”

After the tiger left, the bean soup grandmother started to take good care of her precious bean soup farm.

“I guess this will be my last opportunity to take good care of my bean farm.”

Then lots of tear drops started to fall from the bean soup grandmother’s eyes.

After a short time of being sad, the bean soup grandmother started to take good care of her bean farm as best as possible. She worked so hard that she started to sweat.

Time passed quickly and summer had passed by. In a short amount of time, autumn came.

The bean soup grandmother’s beans grew as fresh as they can me.

“Oh! The beans are very well ripen!”

The bean soup grandmother started to cry and smile while watching her beans unconsciously.

Then winter came, and that day, snow was falling from the sky.

The bean soup grandmother had put her beans in a pot and started to make her special bean soup.

“I can’t believe this will be my last bean soup I can ever make. Sniff sniff!”

“Bean soup grandmother, why are you crying?”

From nowhere a chestnut came jumping towards the bean soup grandmother and asked her what’s wrong.

“The tiger will eat my last bean soup and then eat me…”

The bean soup grandmother started to tell the chestnut what happened to her while tearing up.

“Bean soup grandmother, can you give me one pot of bean soup? Oh, and don’t worry about the tiger.”

The chestnut ate the grandmother’s bean soup and hid inside the pot.

A few minutes later a gimlet came jumping towards the bean soup grandmother.

“Wow! The smell of the bean soup is really good!”

Then a straw mat came out from the corner.

“Bean soup grandmother, I came out attracted by the smell of you bean soup too!”

“Sure sure, eat up quickly when they are still hot. Sniff!”

The straw mat twitched it’s head left to right while eating the bean soup the grandmother made for them.

“Bean soup grandmother, why are you crying?”

“Soon a tiger will come and eat my bean soup and eat me too….”

After listening to the story, the gimlet shouted in a loud voice.

“Don’t worry! We will partner up and shoo the tiger away!”

After saying that, the gimlet went down under the pile of dust in the kitchen

And the straw mat lied down in front of the kitchen door.

Then the Korean A-frame came jumping towards the grandmother.

“Bean soup grandmother, do you have any more bean soup left?”

The bean soup grandmother scooped up a large amount of bean soup onto the Korean A-frame’s plate.

The Korean A-frame ate the delicious bean soup.

“Eat as much as you want. This may be my last bean soup…”

“This is your last bean soup? What do you mean?”

The grandmother told the Korean A-frame the tiger story all over again.

“Don’t worry and stay quietly in your room. I will help shoo the tiger away.”

The Korean A-frame went behind the persimmon tree and hid behind the tree trunk.

The story of grateful pheasant (2/2)

The woman went inside her room and started to saw the clothes with her needle and thread.

Just about time when she was trying to put her spit on to the thread to pass it through the small hole in the needle, her tongue separated into two and became a snake’s tongue.

The woman pushed aside her needle and thread and came out from her room quietly.

Then she creeped into the barn that the young man was sleeping.

Suddenly, the young man opened his eyes. He realized that he could not breath. He was very surprised.

“Gosh!”

By surprise, the first thing that the young man saw after he opened his eyes was a huge snake twisting around his body. It was the snake’s strength that was making it hard for the young man to breath.

The giant snake stared at the young man as if he really did not like him.

Then the giant snake started to cry.

“I am the wife of the giant snake you have killed earlier today.

Now it is my time to pay you back for my husband’s death.

Since you have sinned, you are not sad about dying, right?”

“Huh? What are you talking about?

I shot the giant snake in order to save the baby birds’ lives.”

The wife of the giant snake that the young man had killed in the morning stared madly at the man.

“My husband did not do any harm to you. Us giants snakes are supposed to live eating small birds and animals. It’s our duty and the way to survive. But you killed my husband just because he was hunting the food for a living?”

“Wa, Wait a minute!”

The young man spoke up in a hurry. He took a deep breath and said

“I felt very sorry for your husband’s death. So after I sent the little birds away, I buried your husband in a good soil. So I would be very sad if I die right here just because of that reason.”

The wife of the giant snake that the young man had killed in the morning became less angry at the young man after she heard that he had buried her husband and felt sorry for him.

“Okay. I will give you a chance to live. Do you know about the bell that is located inside this forest?

If that bell rings at least three times before the sun rises, I will think that saving you is the order that the heaven sent me and save your life.”

The young man sighed.

Who would be passing by the bell that is located deep inside the forest and ring it for him before the sun rises?

The young man closed his eyes and waited for the moment of his death.

Slowly, the sun began to rise and the surroundings of the young man and the giant snake became brighter.

Just before the moment the wife of the giant snake that the man had killed in the morning opened her mouth to swallow the young man, “Ring” the bell which is located deep inside the forest rang loudly.

“Huh? How could this happen?”

The young man opened his eyes widely and concentrated on the sound of the bell.

After a few moments, “Ring” the sound of the second bell rang.

The wife of the giant snake that the young man had killed in the morning shivered.

“Your life is gone if the bell does not ring one more time!”

The lips of the young man started to dry up because he was too nervous.

‘Please god. Help me. Please let the bell ring one more time.’

The sun was almost up in the sky.

So the giant snake started to grip the young man strongly.

Suddenly “Ring!” the third bell rang.

Right after the sound of the bell, the sun rose into the sky and it became morning.

“Huh…. It’s annoying that I couldn’t revenge on you for my husband. However, we had made a promise and I will keep it.”

So the giant snake let go of the young man and disappeared.

‘Hweh. I almost died. But who will be the person that rang the bell for me inside this forest?’

The young man quickly ran to the location of the bell.

When the young man arrived, he spotted  three young birds on the floor bleading.

“Oh, gosh…”

The family members of the three young  birds that the young man had saved in the morning were the ones who  sacrificed their life to save the young man from dying.

They flew into the bell in order to ring  it.

“They repaid for me by sacrificing their  lives….”

So the young man picked up the three  young birds and buried them.

And he prayed for the three young birds  who had sacrificed for him, and the giant snake he had killed in the morning.

The story of grateful pheasant (1/2)

Once upon a time, in a town which was located deep deep inside the forest,

There lived a young man who was very skilled with shooting things with his bow and arrow.

Also the young man studied Korean day and night. He kept on reading his book, that he even forgot to sleep.

Finally, he was ready to take the final test that was held in Hanyang. If he passes this final test, he will get the opportunity to get a job and earn money.

“Just in case I meet a fierce animal on my way to Hanyang, I should take my bow and arrow to shoot them down if I meet them on my way.”

Just like the young man had expected, the way to Hanyang from his home was very far and tiring.

If the wavy river blocked his way, he asked the passing guy and rode on his boat.

If the stiff mountains blocked his way, he climbed up the stiff rock to go over that tall and stiff mountain.

One day, the young man stopped walking on his way to Hanyang.

Slick slick. Just like the young man had expected right before he left his home, he came upon a fierce beast. There was a big snake waiting for the young man to pass by him. It was snickering its tongue while hanging from a tree branch.

At first, the young man did not notice anything strange about the big snake that was blocking his way. So he tried to go pass the giant snake very slowly and carefully. However, he took out his bow and arrow after he spotted something strange about the giant snake.

Swish! The arrow that the young man had shot flew quickly like a wind.

Flop. The giant snake who was shot by the arrow that the young man had shot fell down to the ground.

After the snake had fallen down, the young man saw what was strange about the giant snake.

There were three baby birds who were shaking like a leaf.

“You guys were almost eaten by the giant snake. Now, hurry up and fly back home.”

The three baby birds kept on turning their heads back towards the young man as if they wanted to say thank you to him for saving their lives.

After that, the baby birds disappeared into the forest.

The young man picked up the giant snake he had killed and buried it.

“If you were not there to eat the baby birds, I would not have killed you. You were very unlucky.”

The young man hurried up his paste and started to walk towards Hanyang again.

As he walked and walked, the sun fell down and it started to get darker inside the forest.

If a huge beast like a tiger attacks in the dark, it will be a big and dangerous issue for the young man.

“I should hurry up find somewhere to sleep before it gets darker.”

The young man walked and walked towards Hanyang even though it was very dark and dangerous.

However, no matter how much he walked, he could not spot at least one bright house.

“Oh.. my legs are starting to hurt so much. I would at least stay for the night if I can find somewhere. A temple would be fine too.”

Right after he said that, he spotted a blinking light right down the road.

The young man was so happy to spot a light that he ran all the way to the house he had just spotted.

The house he had spotted was a very old house which did not have any wooden fences nor the front gate of the house. It only had one room too small for two people to sleep, and a smelly and old barn.

Phew, even though the house was very old and creaky, the young man was so relieved that he had at least found a place to stay overnight.

“Excuse me. I am a young passenger just passing by. However, it has gotten way too dark that it would be dangerous for me to continue walking. If it does not bother you, is it okay if I stay overnight?”

After the young man said his words, a shadow which was a shape of a person showed up in front of the blinking light.

However, there was no answer from the person who seemed to be inside the house.

The young man spoke up and asked again just in case the person inside the house had not heard his voice.

“Is anyone inside?”

Finally, the door to the house opened making a creepy sound.

A beautiful woman wearing a white Korean traditional dress came out swiftly from the opened door.

“I don’t know who you are, but this is a house where one woman is living in. I am sorry, but I can’t let in a strange man.”

The young man tilted his head.

‘That’s strange. A young woman living deep inside the woods all by herself?’

Right then, there was a sound of a wolf waling.

The young man asked the woman desperately.

“I might get eaten by the fierce beast on my way to Hanyang if I continue to walk in this darkness.

Please. I don’t care if it is the old barn in your house. Will you be generous and let me stay here for one night?”

The woman thought for a moment then nodded her head.

“Then go ahead and take a rest in the barn.”

“Thank you! Thank you so much!”

The young man went inside the old barn and started unpacking his stuffs.

After he finished unpacking he realized that he was very tired. He could not stop his eyelashes from falling so he lied down on the fall and fell asleep.

The liver of the rabbit (2/2)

However, what is this?

When the turtle and the rabbit arrived at the castle located under the water, the soldier gathered around the two of them and started to tie up the rabbit tightly.

“Huh? What on earth are you doing?”

The turtle who has brought the rabbit to the castle located under the water did not look at the rabbit and acted as if he did not know what was going on.

The soldiers carried the rabbit who was tied tightly.

“Oh, you must be the rabbit that we were looking for all this time! I brought you here because of my sickness. However, if I get better after eating your liver as my medicine, I will never forget about the blessing that you have brought to me”

The rabbit was very startled about the facts that the king of the water told him.

‘What? The king of the water brought me here in order to eat my liver as his medicine? Oh, the turtle must have lied to me in order to bring me here!”

The rabbit snarled at the turtle in anger.

The king of the water shouted at the soldiers who were holding on to the rabbit.

“So, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and take out the liver that is located inside of the rabbit’s belly.”

The rabbit thought that he should gather up his thoughts and act very wisely in order to live.

“Wait! The king of the sea, please listen to me first before you open up my belly. I don’t have the liver inside of my belly right at this moment.”

“What? You don’t have the liver? Is there an animal who does not have a liver inside of it’s body?”

“Well, my liver is actually a well known source of medicine, so there are lots of animals who want it in order to use it to heal somebody’s sickness.

So I hid it deep inside of the forest so that nobody except me can find it.”

The rabbit said to the king of the water as if he was telling the truth.

“If you don’t believe to what I’m telling you now, open up my belly and see if there is liver there.”

The king of the sea wanted to open up the rabbit’s belly right at that second to see if there was liver inside of the rabbit’s belly.

However, the king of the sea was afraid that what rabbit had told him was true. He was worried that there was no liver inside of the rabbit when they opened up the belly of the rabbit.

At that moment, the turtle stood up again and told the king of the sea.

“My dearest king, I will go up to the land with the rabbit and go get the liver that the rabbit had hid deep inside the forest and get it for you.”

So the king of the sea decided to send the turtle and the rabbit up to the land.

The turtle let the rabbit get up on top of his shell again, and swam up towards the top of the land.

The rabbit was feeling very angry at the turtle for lying to him, but he decided to hide his feelings until the moment they arrive on top of the land.

‘Turtle, wait just for a moment. In no time, you will be standing on the land all disappointed about the fact that you helped me go up from the sea.’

When the turtle and the rabbit arrived on top of the land, the turtle told the rabbit.

“Rabbit, we have finally arrived on top of the land. Hurry up and give me you liver that you have hid inside the forest.”

The rabbit quickly hopped deep inside the forest and said to the turtle at the same time.

“Would you feel as disappointed as me who was dragged into the forest and almost died?

If you are that disappointed, why don’t you take out your liver and give it to the king of the sea instead?”

At that moment, the turtle noticed that the rabbit had lied to him.

However, it was too late.

The rabbit was already gone out of his sight.

The liver of the rabbit (1/2)

This is a story that happened from a long, long time ago.

The water king who lived in the bottom of the sea has gotten sick so badly.

Every doctors who were well known for their good skills of healing people looked over the king of the water’s sickness.

However, no matter how hard they tried, it was no use.

“What should we do? The sickness of the king of the water is getting worse and worse. Blop blop.”

“What will happen to the sea if our king of the water dies? Blop blop.”

The sounds of the worries of the servants of the sea was so loud that it was heard from the sky/

At that moment an ascetic who was passing by the top of the river on his cloud heard the voices of the worried servants.

‘Ho ho, the king of the water must have gotten a serious sickness.’

The ascetic decided to go visit the king of the water at his water palace

The ascetic sighed in signs of worry after looking over the sickness of the king of the water.

“Hmm… I did not expect this, but the king of the water’s sickness is much more serious that I expected.

However, there is a way to fix the king of the water’s sickness….”

After listening to what the ascetic said, all the servants of the sea asked him in one voice.

“There is a medicine that can heal the king of the water? Can you tell us what that medicine is?”

“Well… The medicine that can heal the king of the water is the liver of the rabbit who lives up on the land.”

“A rabbit who lives up on the land?”

The animals who has lived under the sea for their whole life had no chance about who the rabbit could be. They have never seen a rabbit before in their life.

“If we want to get the liver of the rabbit, you must go up to the land to meet him. However, if we go up on the land, there’s a bigger possibility of dying because of no air even before we meet the rabbit.”

All the servants of the king of the water started to walk backwards because they were fearing of dying.

“If somebody is brave enough to go up to the land and come back with the liver of the rabbit who lives up on the land, I will give you the biggest award that I can give you.”

The king of the water said to the servants who were gathering around him hardly.

However, the servants of the sea could not stand out to say they would go up on the land easily.

The Sea Bream put his head down looking at the ground and stretched out his mouth.

The servant Chinese herring pointed out all his spikes on his body and stared at somewhere else.

The servant flatfish lied flat on the ground in order to not to look at the eyes of the king of the water.

At that moment, somebody walked up in front of everyone.

“I will go up to the land and get the liver of the rabbit.”

It was the turtle who has the pointy lips.

“I am able to go in and out of the water. I can go up to the mountains or inside the sea and not die. So I will go out of the water and go get the liver of the rabbit.”

The king of the water was very happy to hear what the turtle said.

“Oh. I think my sickness will get healed very fast since you have been brave enough to stand out and help me!”

The ascetic quickly drew the picture of the rabbit for the turtle to carry with him.

‘The rabbit has two long ears, short front legs, it’s tail is very short…. Ho ho, this rabbit is a very strange looking animal.’

The turtle laughed at the picture of the rabbit that the ascetic drew for him.

That must have been the right reaction for the turtle to make. There was no animal who looked like the rabbit inside of the water.

The turtle hurried off up to the land in order to find the rabbit in order to heal the serious sickness of the king of the water.

The turtle who arrived on top of the land hurried off the mountain in order to find the rabbit as fast as he could. He carried the picture of the rabbit that the ascetic drew for him and started to search inside of the mountain.

Suddenly, something came hopping out of nowhere.

“Hmm… I wonder if that is the rabbit that I was looking for.”

However, the animal that the turtle saw was not the rabbit but a frog.

A few moments later, the turtle saw another animal who went hopping like a rabbit.

“Short tail, but the rabbit that the ascetic drew for me does not have a horn like the animal in front of my eyes.”

The animal that the turtle saw was not a rabbit that the turtle was looking for, but a deer.

‘Where could that rabbit that I’m looking for be?’

Suddenly, the turtle saw a small, cute animal hopping past him.

The animal that the turtle saw had long ears, short front legs, long back legs, short tail.

The animal looked exactly like the rabbit that the ascetic drew for him.

The turtle was very excited to meet up with the rabbit.

‘It’s right! It must be right! It’s the rabbit that I was looking for all the time! It looks exactly like the rabbit that the ascetic drew for me!’

Excuse me. Is it okay if I ask you if you are a rabbit”

The rabbit who has a large, circular eyes, opened his eyes even larger.

“Yes, I am a rabbit, but who can you be?”

“I am a turtle who serves the king of the water. I came from the castle under water to meet up with you.

The king of the sea has actually invited you to come to his birthday party as a representative of the animal who lives above the ground.”

The rabbit did not feel bad about the fact that the turtle called him a rabbit in a polite way, and the fact that he was chosen as a representative of the animal living above the land. Actually, he was feeling good about it.

“Hmm… me? However, what should I do?

I am an animal who lives above ground, so I cannot go under water.”

The rabbit said to the turtle with the signs of a disappointment.

“Oh dear rabbit, you don’t have to worry. You can ride on the back of by shell and we can go to the castle under the sea together.

If you go under water with me, the king of the sea will definitely give you delicious food and large amount of precious treasure.”

The rabbit was happy about the facts that the turtle told him.

The rabbit was always busy being careful about the attacks that the bigger animals who were living up on the land. So he was always aware about what happened around him.

So the rabbit decided to follow the turtle under water and go to the birthday party that the king of the water invited him.

A few moments later, a kind grandfather and a kind grandmother came out from the forest looking younger than before.

“Who are those people?”

“Hmm.. I am wondering about that too. However, I don’t know anyone who looks like that.”

The people who were living in the town did not recognize the kind grandfather and the kind grandmother after they had gotten younger.

The people mumbled.

“Hey, you guys. It is us.”

The rumors that the kind grandfather and a kind grandmother had become younger spread out through the village in no time.

“What? That old grandfather became younger? Huff! That can’t happen in real life!”

The grumpy grandfather laughed in none sense.

Even though he had that thought, the grumpy grandfather went to visit the kind grandfather.

“Huh! It can’t be!”

The grumpy grandfather opened his mouth largely startled.

“Grandfather! No no. Young man! How did you become younger again? Can you tell me?”

The grumpy grandfather begged to the kind grandfather.

The kind grandfather felt bad for the grumpy grandfather.

So the kind grandfather told the reason why he had become younger. Then he told the grumpy grandfather where he had found the strange well.

So the grumpy grandfather went quickly to the strange well with a large water bucket.

“That’s right! It is must be that well!”

“Hmm.. Why isn’t he coming back even though a day passed?”

“He must have lost his way back to the village in the forest.”

The kind grandfather and a grandmother went to find the grumpy grandfather into the forest.

When they reached the place where the strange well, they found a baby lying on the floor next to the well.

“Oh my, He must have drunk too much strange water that he became a bany.”

“Grandfather, let’s take this baby and take care of him.”

“That’s right. We should do that. Now, we have a baby to ourselves.”

The kind grandfather and the kind grandmother came back to their house with their new baby and lived happily ever after.

Once upon a time in a deep deep forest, there lived a grandfather and a grandfather who had a kind heart.

Every day, the kind grandfather would chop down wood and earn money just enough for them to live. No matter how much they were poor, not one of them wrinkled their face.

Today, the kind grandfather went out with a wood chopper on his back.

“Grandmother, I will be right back.”

“Grandfather, please come back home safely.”

At that same time, kids who lived in the town ran past the grandfather giggling.

“Kids, don’t run. You will fall down if you do.”

The kind grandfather’s stopped walking and stared at the kids proudly.

However, his face started to stiffen.

There were no kids between the kind grandfather and a grandmother.

“It is okay for us to live in an old house. It is okay for us to not have any meat for our side dishes. However, I would want nothing else but to have a children between us….”

The kind grandfather sighed deeply.

“Kind grandfather, are you going to the forest?”

The people who lived in the town waved to the kind grandfather a goodbye.

“Click click, How can they have no children at that age.

I feel bad for the old grandfather. He must feel very bad.”

At that moment a grumpy grandfather talked to himself.

“Huff. Nobody knows. Not only that kind grandfather is poor. I don’t have children, too. Not only that, I don’t even have a wife next to me.”

So the grumpy grandfather huffed grumbled at everything.

Who will listen to him when he is the most laziest person in the town?

Who will like to listen to him grumble about their effort?

“Huff! Who knows? Will that old grandfather whose back is crumbled get enough wood for a living?”

This time, the grumpy grandfather mumbled some bad things to the kind grandfather who was heading to the forest to chop some wood for a living.

‘I can’t believe that I have to live in the same village with that grumpy grandfather.’

All the people in the town shook his head.

“Oh my, I should rest a little.”

The kind grandfather reached the top of the mountain feeling very tired.

He grabbed the wood chopper and started to hit the wood trunk.

Bang. Bang. Bang, Bang!

However, after a few swings, the sound of the ax hitting the wood stopped.

“Hahh… I should take a rest for a little while. Now this is becoming very tiring and hard for me as I age.”

After a few minutes, there were sweats all over the kind grandfather’s forehead.

“Crimble, Crimple!”

Out of nowhere, the kind grandfather heard a wonderful melody came out.

“I wonder which bird would sing their song this sweetly.”

The kind grandfather moved his head this way and that way to find out who sang that wonderful melody.

“Ahh! There she is!”

There was a beautiful blue bird who was sitting on a tree branch. The beautiful blue bird was singing her beautiful melody.

“That blue bird is very pretty and beautiful!”

The kind grandfather could take his eyes off from the beautiful blue bird.

He couldn’t stop staring that he even forgot to chop his wood.

“Criple, Crimple!”

The beautiful blue bird did not stop chirping his song.

She kept on singing and flew from this branch to that branch.

“Oh! Beautiful blue bird! Where are you going?”

The kind grandfather got up from his set.

“Oh beautiful blue bird! Please don’t go!”

The kind grandfather followed the blue bird waking through circular roads going into the deep forest that he never went before.

Finally, the beautiful blue bird sat quietly on the branch.

The kind grandfather sat down on the floor.

“Huh? There is a strange well in side this forest. I felt very thirsty. I should drink this water.”

The kind grandfather drank the water from the well quickly.

The kind grandfather yawned a little bit and fell asleep slowly.

“Oh my! I can’t believe I slept inside this forest.”

The kind grandfather was very startled.

The time passed quickly and the sun has went down.

“Oh my! The grandmother must be very worried about me. I must hurry and head right to our house.”

The kind grandfather hurried and put his wood chopper on his back and started to go down the mountain.

“Hmm? Did I chop the less wood than other days? This wood chopper feels so light.”

The kind grandfather shifted his head this way and that way.

His footsteps looked lighter that other days.

The kind grandmother was very worried about her husband since the kind grandfather did not come back home even though it was getting late.

So the kind grandmother waited for the kind grandfather in front of their house

However, it was not that kind grandfather who was coming back home.

It was a strange young man who was coming inside their house.

“Hey. Who are you?”

The kind grandmother stared at the young man with suspicious thoughts.

“Grandmother! It is me! Your husband!”

“Oh my gosh!”

The kind grandmother was so startled that she fell on her hips on the ground.

She couldn’t believe it, but the kind grandfather had turned back to his young days.

“Grandmother, what is wrong? Is something wrong?”

The kind grandfather ran to the kind grandmother and helped her get back up to her feet.

“Grand, grandfather, your face….”

“Why? Is something on my face?”

The kind grandfather touched his face with his hands to see if there was anything on his face.

“Huh? Where are my wrinkles? Where is my mustache?”

The kind grandfather quickly ran to a river near his house and started at his own reflection.

“Oh my, oh my! I have become younger. Grandmother! I became younger!”

The kind grandfather thought very carefully about what he did today.

After a few minutes of thought, he hit his knees after realizing something.

“Ah!! I figured out why I have gotten younger. That well was a water that made me go back to my young days. Grandmother, grandmother! Let’s go to the strange well together tomorrow.”

The next day, the kind grandmother let his wife ride on his back. Then he took the kind grandmother to the strange well that he had found the other day.

After arriving at the strange well inside the forest, and drank the water, too.

“Ahh, it is very refleshing!”

The kind grandmother became younger after drinking the strange water from the well.

Dolsoe who turned into a cow (2/2)

The next day, Dolsoe went through the water to set up the land for farming.

His legs started to shiver and tears started to come out from his eyes.

“Sniff sniff. I am so tired. I am not a cow, I am Dosae. Sniff sniff!”

“Why is this cow so loud and lazy?”

The farmer started to slap Dolsoe on his butt.

“Oh my, this hurts so bad! Sniff sniff! I may die. Sniff sniff!”

That day Dolsoe had to work all day long while crying.

Dolsoe had to work from midnight to when the night comes and stars started to rise up to the sky.

After that, the farmer gave Dolsoe only one scoop from the cow food.

Sniff sniff, I should have listened to my mom. Mom, I’m sorry.”

Dolsoe started to tear up.

Dolsoe started to lose weight from that day on.

So he could not finish work well.

“Hmm, I should just sell him at the market and get the price for his meat.”

The farmer started to shake his head.

‘What is he saying? He is going to sell me for my meat? Well I would ratter eat spinach then get killed at the market.”

Dolsoe decided to eat spinach definitely.

When the night came and everyone went to sleep, Dolsoe started to run towards the spinach field that he had seen earlier that day.

Then he started to eat the spinach while crying in fear.

However, something strange happened.

Instead of getting killed, the sharp horn, tail, and yellow far started to disappear. Then the cow head mask came off of Dolsoe by itself.

Dolsoe’s two eyes grew larger.

“I am back to normal!”

Dolsoe started to run back to his real house full of excitement.

Well are you wondering if Dolsoe turned back to a lazy person after the cow head mask came off of him?

Well, the answer is no.

He is not a lazy person anymore. He became a very hardworking person. He studied hard at school and lived happily ever after with his mother.
