Ever had a job where you have no previous experience, you were given no training, you weren’t allowed to quit, and people’s lives are at stake? There is no steeper learning curve in leadership than your very first frontline leadership position. Perhaps the only comparable experience in terms of needing to hit the ground running and quickly close skills gaps is in parenting. Many first-time managements experience parallel first-time parenting. Executive Leaders and Parents, in today’s fast-paced disorienting world, can easily lose track of who they are and what really matters most. But it doesn’t have to be this way. It is possible for parents to harness the powerful science of leadership to thrive in all aspects of their lives. Leadership is about mobilizing people toward valued goals, building trust, and inspiring them to move with you to a better future. It starts with identifying a compelling vision of a shared future, rooted in core values. Leaders do that in organizations of all kinds, including families. With me is Cara Tyrrell, Early Childhood Educator & Conscious Parenting Expert. We discuss ways frontline Leadership is a lot like Parenting, what does it mean to be a parent who leads, the reasons not enough parents think of themselves as leaders, and share a methodology that involves a Parenting GPS and a personalized PMS: Parenting Mission Statement that helps you reach your GPS. Middle managers make more money than workers and potentially have changed social class. They may be fighting to rise even higher in the ranks. Those that understand where their priorities should be and focus on the important, not the latest and loudest, gain an unfair advantage in today’s always-on world. The ability to ignore unimportant distractions and to distinguish between what is important and what is not a talent, it is a skill you can learn and develop. It’s a skill you need to master if you want to get to the top of your organization. We often think of power in organizations as either something you have (as a leader) or something you don’t (as a follower). But middle managers must constantly oscillate between situations in which they have either low or high power. This can be cognitively and emotionally exhausting. By better understanding how this power oscillation plays out, both middle managers and executives can find ways to ease the burden. These strategies include simplifying reporting structures and creating “transition scripts” to aid in communication. How to have a good relationship with your manager. If you didn’t already know, the most significant factor impacting your job satisfaction is your relationship with your direct manager. Not surprisingly, clients often bring me stories about the difficulty of working with their bosses. It’s not always that these supervisors are bullies or tyrants; it’s simply that many employees don’t prioritize building a good relationship with their manager. The value of a good relationship is that it gives you a solid foundation when stressful times arise. Without one, you don’t have the open communication and sense of trust needed to resolve issues between you quickly. Don’t make the mistake—one that so many people make—of believing your manager is simply a work troll to be tolerated (or worse). Look around and see what you can do to manage up effectively. You’ll find more satisfaction and learn far more in the process. Our website: https://ift.tt/3lGODwh FB: https://ift.tt/3AzBYRM by Evan Tzivanakis

Every employee is a work in progress. For their own good and for their personal and professional development, they need clear, direct feedback. The worry is that some leaders take "clear, direct feedback" to mean something else completely. They worry that they will not be heard unless they are confrontational and harsh. Watch my live and learn the difference between being direct vs harsh and learn how to communicate and manage your people better. #LeadershipInTheNewNormal #leadingpeople #clearleadership #leadwithempathy #employeeengagement by Evan Tzivanakis

What separates good salespeople from great ones? It is not how many calls they make per day, it is not their CRM, it is not prospecting. Don't get me wrong: all the above are important BUT THEY DON'T CLOSE DEALS. Sales professionals who hit their sales goals quarter after quarter have a few things in common — EXPCEPTIONAL SOFT SKILLS. These are the abilities a salesperson has to build relationships, encourage productive conversation, and provide an exceptional customer experience. #softskills #empathy #adaptability #communication #humility #listeningskills #resilience #EI by Evan Tzivanakis

Now that the COVID-19 pandemic has introduced a telecommuting culture that many workplaces plan to continue, new challenges are arising for managers. With team members working remotely, on-the-job conflicts happen digitally, with disagreements carried out not through face-to-face arguments, but over e-mails, texts and intraoffice channels like Slack for example. A recent study from MyPerfectResume shines a harsh light on complaints between remote workers and how those complaints can act as a tinderbox in a distanced and potentially fragile work environment: - 81 percent of remote professionals have experienced workplace conflict. - 46 percent use a work messaging app for their arguments. - Nearly 2 in 3 workers (65 percent) have experienced conflict with their co-workers—19 percent with their direct manager, 11 percent with an external manager and 5 percent with an employee working at another company. Joins me today is Vlasios Sarantinos - Senior Lecturer in HRM, where we discuss best practices to deal with conflict when you manage teams remotely. by Evan Tzivanakis

Selflessness Love Solidarity Humanity Our society is going through the supremacy of the good - humanity. Throughout world history, humanity has survived wars, pandemics, genocides, crises, assassinations, natural disasters, events that have stigmatized it and will continue to stigmatize it for much longer. And yet it is said that such events are ''normal to happen''. We can not explain why they happen or blame a higher power. But we can continue to live, to overcome, to look and walk forward, to learn, to support each other and and to enjoy health and life. www.ExecutiveCoachAsia.com #solidarité #selfleadership #love #solidarity #humanity #life (at Putrajaya, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQD9SBRsPEu/?utm_medium=tumblr
