Headcanon: Arsinoë(Annabeth) had a much harder time accepting things then Perseleia (Percy). She had never had as much parental affection from her godly parent let alone from any god in actuality. She was never offered immortality like Percy, was never really considered much outside of being Percy Jackson’s soul sister. Had long accepted the fact she would fade, her name forgotten, while Percy’s story and feats lived on in fame until the end of time. She’d made her peace with that. So coming to the past and suddenly being seen as precious, as important, shook her to her core. She had a LOT of similarities to kids who finally get their parents love or animals that had been bounced around a lot. This culminated to her feeling like an imposter, sneaking to the surface one night during winter to feel the blistering cold, to get truly sick as only a mortal could, and end the farce. She danced on a frozen lake, bathed in moonlight for hours as she awaited the unbearable sting of the cold and the headache from the constant battle for homeostasis. It was hours later when she accepted, accepted that like Percy she was no longer mortal, and like Percy she now had a more major role to play. She turned to see owls lining the trees, her mother watching her with love and devotion she’d never really known from the woman. When she stepped into the unfrozen portion of the water Poseidon was there to embrace her fiercely, easy praise and declarations of love falling from his lips, Amphitrite brushing a hand through her thick curls as they told her that her ice dancing had been lovely.
At last Arsinoë(Annabeth) felt like she could play this role, allow herself to matter as more than a foot note in history if only for a moment.

In the Athenide twin au, it’d be so funny if Percy and Annabeth went as Perse & Arsinoë for Halloween. And if it’s before their memories are back and the gods haven’t quite figured things out yet? Even funnier.
I want to say they do this while house sitting for Hecate for the lols but if they’re around Olympus, that is the first and the last time they do that because of the panic attacks they caused

I’m trying to write fluff:
Annabeth sat at the edge of the lake. It should’ve been a sign, the draw to water she had always felt since she was young. Yet, she hadn’t needed help stayed blissfully unaware and buried that love deep within her heart. While Arsinoë and Perseleia had been beloved by both Poseidon and his kin due to the shared connection between them Annabeth didn’t have that protection. In fact, form some reason, Poseidon had taken an intense disliking to the majority of Athena’s demigod children.
Though that likely had to do with the earlier ones believing they deserved the same love, the same respect, the same benefits as their half siblings. Perhaps it had been due to him seeing Athena’s attempts at blonde hair grey eyed children as a poor imitation of Arsinoë and had acted as such. Annabeth had never really expected that, to be loved or given anything of much value outside of making her presence small. It is possible she’d even been conditioned to expect the opposite, to be scorned and pushed behind the curtains which had grown into a fatal flaw of pride when she’d done something that could NOT be disputed or overlooked. She’d thought that was why Poseidon hadn’t smitten her upon all her invasions, big and small, in his domain. It couldn’t have been because he’d been fond of her when even her own mother had deemed her unworthy of much more than a cap to make her invisible.
Once she’d gotten to know Percy, really gotten to know her, she believed Poseidon was merely keeping one of two people who cared about his demigod daughter safe to ensure her happiness. She’d never really notice how sometimes he’d stare at her during the trips to Mount Olympus that Camp Halfblood took, never noticing how he tried to catalogue her eyes as though he were a drowning man gasping for water that only she could provide.
Annabeth sighed, sliding bare feet into the water below, feeling a small wave of energy tingle upwards as fish began to swim closer to the intruding appendages.
“Annabeth.” A deep voice soothed and the blonde felt her heart constrict as her body tensed.
“Lord Poseidon-“ she began only to find herself cut off as the god of the sea sat down beside her at the edge of the dock.
“You always enjoyed lakes.” He said lightly. “I find myself somewhat pleased the you of the present still do.” The fabric of his Hawaiian shirt was covered in a god awful pattern that had Annabeth biting back a snort. “I am sad you were not born as my demigod daughter along with Persel- along with Percy.” He seemed to catch himself in a way many didn’t when faced with the reality of their past identities and it brought a wave of affection over her. “Do not take that to mean I am unhappy about your return. Annabeth, Arsinoë, I have always loved you and your sister. Will always love the two of you no matter what forms you take.”
“Even if Mr. D turn us into dolphins?” Annabeth whispered, trying to hide the emotion that was storing in her gut.
“Even if he turned you into owls and the only time I could see you was on the land at night. Annabeth, you have always been enough and you are loved.”
Tears were sliding down her face now.
“You don’t even know me now.” She whispered. “I could’ve become someone you hate.”
“Then I would learn to love you again, if you would let me.” His voice sounded hopeful and Annabeth found herself nodding.
“Only if you apologize to Percy for what you’ve put her through.” She commanded wetly.
“Of course sea star. Of course.” He wrapped an arm around her and kissed her head. It wasn’t what it used to be, nor what Paul and Sally made her feel when with them, but it was a start.

Cough,
I may have done something.
Cough,
I may have written something for the twin AU. Though if at any point @chaoticdumbassrogue tells me to pull the plug I respect them enough to do it.

Poseidon gave Arsinoë a dagger after someone (god/nymph/mortal hero/idk) tried to sexually assault her for protection. She used it not only to protect herself but the families who called on her, the unwanted children she raised, the demigod children who had her sister’s protection. So much so it became known as a sacred weapon, a sacred symbol, associated with the goddess of family and reason.
@chaoticdumbassrogue again I blame you for this.

Is it wrong that I ship Arsinoe and Artemis and imagine it just culminating to an actual relationship after the twins are… whatever they are. Reborn/reminded. Not like a huge romantic waxing poetics and overly touchy? Like I feel Perseleia and Apollo are very physical touch and words of affirmation type love language where as I see Arsinoe and Artemis as quality time and works love language. Like they might give a chaste kiss but nothing really beyond that needs to be done to convey the fact they love each other? Like they’re both asexual and demiromantic?

Poseidon is very much a girl dad no matter if it’s just Perseleia or if it’s Perseleia and Arsinoë. The only difference is Arsinoë and Perseleia actively work together to give him gray hairs.
Poseidon: girls, where are you going, it’s eleven o’clock at night.
Arsinoë in a completely serious voice: we’re going to an orgy dad
Perseleia: Dionysus invited us!
Poseidon: WHAT?
-neither of them found it important to tell him it was to provide safety and refreshments as needed and would only be participating in a game of chess against the other the entire time*

Perseleia: why don’t we have magical girl transformations?
Arsinoë: because we’re not magical… and our parents would kill anyone if they ever saw us naked even if it was covered by magic.
Perseleia:…
Arsinoë: would be cool though.
Perseleia: yeah… wanna make a magical transformation sequence
Arsinoë: I thought you’d never ask
Unrelated only a couple cities were wiped out in the making of said magical transformation.

Perseleia and Arsinoë in either Athena’s nest or their rooms in Poseidon’s palace
Perseleia: I don’t know why we’re grounded
Arsinoë: honestly, all we did was create one tensy wensy super tiny disaster.
Perseleia: and set that dude on fire.
Arsinoë: and beat that murderer with a baseball bat.
Perseleia: honestly we could’ve done worse.

Dionysus: if someone broke into your home and you weren’t a demigod wouldn’t you be scared?
Grover: obviously
Annabeth: depends how many guns do I still have hidden
Dionysus: none
Annabeth: do I still have my knife, nunchucks, axe?
Dionysus: it was a hypothetical question
Annabeth: I know but I want to play it out. Do I still have my throwing stars?
Percy: this has taken a strange turn.
Annabeth: fine. I’d be scared. What kind of woman doesn’t have an axe?

For the intimacy prompt Arsinoe and Artemis for the nose touching and cuddling? 🥺
Arsinoë wasn’t like her sister.
Where Perse was had dark tresses and starlight hair, Arsinoë had golden hair of the dawn and cloudy streaks.
Where Perse expressed pining for Apollo over all of her numerous suitors, Arsinoë felt nothing for hers. At most, she felt friendship for Hermes but what Perse confided to her, friendship just didn’t seem the same as Perse and Apollo’s yearning.
The only one who knew of her heart and feelings, rather, the lack of supposed feelings, was Artemis.
“I feel like something is wrong. Like I am supposed to have feelings the way Perse has feelings, but I don’t.” Arsinoë confessed.
Artemis laid next to her on the outskirts of her camp, her skin glowing under the light of the stars.
“Do you love your mother?”
“Yes.”
“Your sister?”
“Of course.”
“There is nothing wrong with you.” Artemis declared.
“Am I broken for not feeling romantic attraction?” Arsinoë turned to Artemis.
Artemis turned, her nose now brushing Arsinoë’s. “No more than me.”
“You’re not broken.”
“Neither are you.”

When Percy and Annabeth get their memories/godhood back:
Annabeth: oh my gods, what did you do to me?!
Percy: what do you mean what did I do to you?!
Annabeth: I didn’t know being an Athenide was contagious!
Grover: ok! Ok! Everyone calm DOWN!

Amphitrite knew she was staring, knew she should stop.
The Queen of the Sea couldn’t though, not when the two girls stood before her. Two girls that were unequivocally hers, even if her lord husband were to tell her they weren’t. She didn’t care if they were her blood, not when she hadn’t cared that the Athenides shared not a single drop of her and had claimed them all the same, had loved them as if they were.
Under her husbands distracted gaze she sneakily weaved a layer of protection, the goddess taking his own distraction as the hidden boon it was. The earth shaker would have called her out on her meddling, perhaps he would have become defensive of the two young girls and the mortal women who had birthed them. Not that Amphitrite could blame him, she had been quite vicious towards Athena’s spawn with her husband throughout the years. The entitled young demigods who thought they looked just enough like Arsinoë, like Métis, to curry either of their favor.
Amphitrite would have been indifferent to the cheap imitations if only they weren’t so validly naive, assuming she would cherish them as she had her sister and the daughter they resembled. They could never truly grasp that she was only soft on them because they were family, truly and totally.
Percy must have felt her protection settle around them like a comforting blanket because the dark haired demigod turned to her, eyes squinted and head tilted so reminiscent of Pallas, of Perseleia.
“Lord Poseidon,” the blonde one began, a sort of tension tight around her shoulders as she moved her broken body to bow in honor of the sea god, an action that took Amphitrite of guard. True demigod children of Poseidon had learned to be more respectful after Thesesus but surely the girl knew her father would be understanding of her current state of pain.
“Dad.” Percy intoned, voice sounding pleading as she turned her curious gaze to that of worry and levied it at her blonde twin, because what else could they be outside of twins? “Please.” Her voice was soft and pleading.
Poseidon himself was looking upon the blonde sister with pained horror, perhaps he was remembering the early times when Arsinoë was just a wee godling patron of family but not yet believing she had a place in her own due to her golden locks and sea grey eyes inherited from her maternal grandmother while the other members favored darker complexions akin to Poseidon, Rhea, and herself. He reached out a hand before pausing and ultimately aborting the move, dropping the appendage at his side.
“Rise, Annabeth Chase.” His voice echoed around the chamber. Amphitrite paused at the last name, why was it different from her sisters? “Demigod daughter of Athena you will face no malice during your time here.” Amphitrite could see Triton’s eyes widen briefly before narrowing in pain. Of course this girl, so brilliant and strong, was currently recognized as one of Athena’s demigods. Amphitrite tilted her head, she didn’t like Athena’s spawn on principle especially as the other goddess sent them for slaughter over a statue.
However, Athena had many demigod children. Perhaps Amphitrite could take just this one and spare her the same fate as her brethren. She could claim her as she’d claimed the twins, so intimately that she’d stay at her newly made cabin in camp away from Athena’s safe and sound from the machinations of the crazed goddess of wisdom who would one day send her to die.
“You are welcome here child.” She stepped up beside her husband levying a look of kindness and compassion at the child she had decided to claim. She would tell her husband her plans later. He would go along, he too seemed soft for the child with eyes of sea stormed water.
“Thank you Lord Poseidon, Lady Amphitrite.” The girls melodic voice spoke as she struggled to stand once more, battered body supported by Percy who also looked at them with relief and gratitude.
“Thanks dad, umm Lady Amphitrite.” The dark haired demigod’s voice brought a pang to her heart.
“Call me mother dears.” While neither of them seemed to hear the plural tense of the word, too tired from the battle that had led them here she could see her other children take note. Could see how Poseidon became more contemplative before turning towards her, a knowing look of acceptance on his face. If she could figure out how to override Athena’s claim he would support her.
Good, their children deserved to live as long as any demigod could, Amphitrite would make sure of it.
