Im on the train and this lady comes to me about how im in her seat. It's 6 in the morning, train is half empty, if it's about it being a window seat there's one available right on the other side.

Now im sitting next to this lady wanting to run away to that empty seat but she went all like "oh you stay dont worry about it but if someone claims "my" seat i'll have to ask you to go" 🙃

anyway you should always remember that all those foreigners you see dying on the news are just as real people as you are who have just as much interiority as you do. there is nothing about you that makes you more important and it is by pure chance that you are not in their position. in fact, this holds for all of history. every person, no matter the horror of the fate that befell them, had just as much interiority as you do. i feel like some people haven't fully internalized this.

No one here is saying you shouldn't do your own research, but using a tool for it doesn't need to be this ostracised. Let's not forget there was also a group of people with similar opinions as yours about the internet when it first came around and look at us now.

It is extremely easy to lie and pass on misinformation; with or without ai. I can go next door and tell them something ridiculous and pull up a silly article I read and there's a chance they'll believe me and pass that on. All without technology. It is up to us to make proper diggings before passing the word to the next person.

Like you said, you can very well click on the links and confirm it for yourself. Ai is new, it still makes mistakes. I doubt a machine is out to personally get you. Using ai entirely for your degree is the same as copying from another student which is equally bad.

In conclusion, it's ok to want to use ai as your little assistant sometimes, what's not ok is to have it do all your work for you.

Why are you using chatgpt to get through college. Why are you spending so much time and money on something just to be functionally illiterate and have zero new skills at the end of it all. Literally shooting yourself in the foot. If you want to waste thirty grand you can always just buy a sportscar.

Im gonna have to disagree with this. I dont use chatgpt all the time, but it sure helps narrow down a lot when doing research! You just have to be able to use it, which is a skill in itself.

Make sure to ask for sources, links, published studies, recent consensus, etc. Then you can have a starting point for whatever you need for your school/work. It's a big help, it's a little assistant. I can't wait for progress to be done so it becomes more environmentally friendly.

I agree it shouldn't be used for everything – but it shouldn't be as criticised as it is.
