Watched a few playthroughs of "Before Your Eyes" today, and like...
First off, it is a gorgeous game, with a unique mechanic, and if I thought my computer could handle the graphics, I would try and get it to play myself.
Secondly, (Spoiler alert, so I'll put it beneath the cut)
I really do wonder how the Ferryman was feeling, when he got that slow, dawning realization of why Benny "lied" about his life story. Not only the fact that it was a life cut short, but also just the fact that he had just recently been yelling at and threatening a literal child and making him relive some very sad and painful memories.
Like--he did seem genuinely panicked and worried at the end of the flashbacks, telling him that it was okay to close his eyes and basically guiding him through the process of coming back to the present, and he sounded very gentle when informing Benny that he'd passed the gatekeeper's judgement... but that in-between moment seemed a little... off? He didn't really address what had happened, or ask if Benny was okay at all.
And I think he was honestly surprised by Benny's age--there was no prior indication he thought Benny was anything other than an adult, and even when he said that "you were sick for a long time, weren't you?" line, the tone to me still read that he assumed Benny recovered in the end, and it was something else that killed him.
I guess I kind of just wanted him to give Benny a hug or something. Like--I don't actually know if that was physically possible at that point, since Benny didn't have a body at that point, but it still would have been nice.
you ever just stumble on the most life changing video games of your life, sob to it, then are just expected to move on like hell no this shit is staying in my brain forever
