(re: everyone leaves alive auditions)
what vocal ranges do you have in mind for the singing characters? would baritone/tenor be acceptable for micah?
Hi! I wrote Ada, Beth, Sadie, and Circe in a mezzo-soprano or alto register, and given the combinations they sing in with each other, the song would probably need to be re-worked if one of them had a significantly different register. Which isn't impossible, of course!
Baritone/tenor would definitely be acceptable for Micah, who I don't think sings with anyone else in all of Season One.

Curious about the auditions because I never really learned to sight read music so how would the musical portions work for the cast?
Full disclosure, I can't sight read music either. I'm envisioning making demos of all the songs and the vocalists mostly working off the demos. If the music director feels it's helpful, they may choose to make sheet music in some cases, but I don't think reading sheet music is going to be a requirement.

how is Micah pronounced? Is it My-kah or Mee-kah, or a secret third thing?
My-kah!

I know the audition you posted for Everyone Leaves Alive is just for the pilot, but there are no singing roles for men. Any chance there will be if you are able to make it into a full show? Even if they are single appearance “monster of the week”-type characters, I would personally love to voice a (or multiple) singing role(s) as a man.
If I do get to make a full series, there will be at multiple singing guest roles open to men, but human and not.

hi! very sorry if this is a silly question but i'm autistic and ive never done this before - do you want people auditioning to send in any kind of resume along with their recordings? or even just a brief summary in their email about any relevant qualifications? again, sorry if this is a silly question i don't mean to be ignorant here. and do people need voice acting experience?
Not a silly question at all! If you have enough relevant experience to fill a resume, sure, hand it in with the audition. And prior voice acting experience is not needed.

Any particular song vibes you're going for with Circe?
I would say any song that feels like it's being sung by like an evil queen, or any song that you can sing like you're an evil queen.

Follow-up to the song length question, would you prefer backing music, voice only, or no preference?? Thanks!!!
Hi! As stated in the audition info, if you can get backing music, that is preferable. However, I would very strongly prefer people not sing along to a track with full vocals, since the point is to hear how your singing voice sounds. (If it helps, if you look for your song in YouTube with "karaoke version" in your search terms, you might be able to find a clean backing track.)

For the singing auditions, do you have any examples of bands that would be a fairly good match for the sort of music in the audio drama? In terms of good songs to use for the audition.
I'm hoping to hear a variety of different rock styles, but some bands that have influenced sound of the band in Everyone Leaves Alive are Metric, Voxtrot, Rainer Maria, Hana Vu, and Immaculate Machine.

Hello! I know you've said we can audition for multiple parts, but is there a limit? Or are you ok with us applying to all parts that we qualify for and are interested in?
Additionally you lost race requirements for all roles, but only gender requirements for Micah. are all other roles open to anyone genderwise?
You can apply to all parts you are qualified for and are interested in.
As far as gender goes, my take on Flynn's gender is here. Beyond that, the characters' pronouns are present in their descriptions. I'd say if it's a pronoun you personally vibe with, go ahead and try out!

Hi with the auditions you stated that Micah is a role for non binary actors only, I have this complication with my gender where I just don’t know what it is and I have spent the better part of 5 years trying to work it out, I know I use any pronouns but that’s as far as I’ve got, would it still be possible for me to potentially audition for Micah or no?
Hi! I don't feel fully qualified to answer this question, but my instinct is that you can, and also oh my gosh, that sounds like a complicated way to live! As someone who spent years going back and forth on whether or not I "count" as bi, my sympathies.

What is Flynn’s gender/are there gender preferences for the actor for him?
Flynn uses he/him pronouns. He is sort of himbo-adjacent, for a value of "often hits on women in a way that is not predatory or creepy but sometimes unwanted (and he doesn't really notice until he gets a solid 'no' because he's used to coasting on his looks)."
I am open to people of any gender trying out for the part. That said, I do think Flynn fundamentally has a certain unearned confidence that is by far most often seen in cis men, and the voice actor would thus need to be comfortable with being read as a cis man. Hope that helps!

Hi there! Hope this finds you well! I had a question about “Everyone Leaves Alive.” Can we apply/audition for both the production team and cast, or would you prefer we choose to focus on just one or the other? Also, do you have any additional preferences or guidelines for the singing audition (like how long it should be, an entire song or just a cut of a song, etc.)? Thank you!!
Hi! You can absolutely both apply for the production team and audition for roles for @everyoneleavesalive! As far as singing goes, I'd say the length of a song is about right. I want to get a sense of how dynamic a person's singing voice is, etc.
Thanks!

hello!! i'm interested in autitioning for everyone leaves alive, is this an international casting call? (i'm australian)
Hi! There are roles in @everyoneleavesalive where backstory-wise, the character is from the US and would have an American accent (Micah, Beth, Ada). There are roles where I could slightly tweak a line or two and it would still make sense for the character to be from outside the United States (Sadie), and roles where any accent would work (Circe, Charlie and Flynn).
As far as casting outside the US, I will say that most of the recording is going to happen in group online recording sessions, and since most of the actors will likely be in America, time zones might get challenging for you. However, I have cast non-US people in audio dramas before, so if you feel like you can make that work, go ahead!

Hello! About the auditions - do you have any preferences for what songs/genres to be sung? Also are we allowed to audition for more than one part?
Hi! I would prefer a rock song or rock-adjacent song, and you are allowed to audition for multiple parts!
