Something I really like about the way Limbus Company does ID's is that the kinds of ID's people get tells you a lot about their characters. Like they could totally have just been lazy and given everyone the same kind of IDs, but they really make sure the ID's make sense. Like Faust, shes pretty often in a wing because she wants to gain that data, and shes smart enough for it, Hong Lu is usually in a high status position because hes rich and can get there, and Mersault is garbage in every universe. Really neat way of subtly giving us info on the characters

Seems like they want to give the launch EGOs to pairs of sinners. Currently we have:

Faelantern - Gregor Sinclair

Pursuance - Meursault Rodya

Ya Sunnyata Tad Rupam - Heathcliff Outis

Wishing Cairn - YiSang DonQui

Hex Nail - Faust ???

Ardor Blossom Star - Ishmael ???

Only sinners without a launch EGO are Hong Lu and Ryoshu. If they want to complete the cycle, Hong Lu ABS is likely due to having a Burn ID but no Burn EGO. So... Hex Nail Ryoshu?

Note that Gregor is down an EGO and Ryoshu is up an EGO compared to everyone else, so they could shit on the cycle thing and give ABS to Gregor (he has Liu ID) and Hexnail to Hong Lu or whatever.

SO, THEN, WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THE MASSIVE HAND ON IT'S UNDERSIDE????? HELLO????? HAS ANYBODY ELSE NOTICED THIS???????????

87 turns Railroad~ This was my favourite railroad so far, the abnormalities are cool, and so is the gimmick. Feedback under the spoiler.

Gossypium and Moth are very straightforward, clash the big attack with EGO and bring the good sin affinities for the win.

Siltcurrent can ungabunga'ed, if you prepare correctly in station 1 and the first wave (prepare sin ressources for an EGO that'll beat its Blind Obsession even with the Paralysis). Also, save your Slash units for Gossypium (just in case).

Flesh Prophet sucks because it can tempo with candles but nothing too bad.

I feel like Ahab trio is the most technical fight of the game to get in a decent turn count. I managed to get it in 9 turns (including 2 turn on the first wave), it requires very precise timing in staggering Ahab. Thanks god you don't actually have to kill Queequeg and her stupid heal.

Gas Harpoon is very similar to base game, the last turns can be dangerous however. managed to get it in 13 turns.

I brought a Rupture team to melt the final boss away, enjoy your 5 talismans into 99 Rupture spam dumbass :)

Did the count :

- all Sinners now have 3 000. The Dieci banner was very deliberate in giving Hong Lu a 000: they wanted to equalize the field before giving anyone a 4th (remember the Ishmael-gets-everything Outis-starves memes).

- Everyone has 3 00, except for Ryoshu who has 2 and Yi Sang, Sinclair and Hong Lu who have 4. Expect a Ryoshu 00 soon, my guess is on Rabbit on a joint banner with Rhino Gregor 000.

- Everyone has 5 EGOs except Ryoshu who has 6 (thanks Red Eyes I guess) and Gregor+Don Quixote who have 4. If they continue to double on launch EGOs, I could see Gregor getting Ardor Blossom Star soon (has a Burn ID and no Burn EGO yet). Don Quixote could get Hex Nail to support her Middle ID even more. I hope they will dig deeper into RR abnormalities. If so we could see KQJE-12 or Sign of Rose Don Quixote!

I kinda like the gacha part but since that's a bit controversial I will retort to the other point.

I love the fact that IDs are neither fully the sinner, neither another character. You gain insight on the sinner and the city at the same time, but in a flawed narrator way. Like all Meursault IDs are different but also fundamentally Meursault, so the common denominators between them reveal a lot about the character. Conversely each ID gives infi about its corp/association/whatever but from the sinner point of view. It's a subtle way to give the lore.

This ties in with EGO as a concept in Limbus too. In Lobcorp, Abnormalities were intensely studied. Here in Limbus our main sources about them are the (very fight oriented) observation logs, and the EGOs. I find it super interesting to analyze who gets each EGO and how the sinner ties in with Abnormality concept (which is often not explicit).

Overall it seems that PM found a neat way to pass on City lore in the ID/EGO system.

Limbus Company... Shouldn't Have Been A Gacha

For a couple big reasons, and I say this as someone who loves Limbus Company (it was actually my entry into PMoons stuff).

The First is that I feel PMoon kinda bit off more than it could chew with making a gacha because those tend to attract much broader audiences, due to their ostensibly 'free' nature, and with that wider audience come baked in expectations. There's the korean incel drama, yes, and on a much smaller level (and a more personally annoying one) you have the waifu-brained Redditor types.

There's also the fact that, early on in Limbus' release, there were a lot of hasty patches and running around fixing things, as well as Uptie 4 feeling tacked on and not fully developed. Which isn't unexpected, per se, and it's good to be attentive on the issues, but I feel like live-service games tend to be held to a higher standard, which Limbus didn't initially meet, and I feel that that bar could've been lower if that game was instead in Early Access or '1.0'. * And I think I speak for not only myself but a lot of Limbus fans when I say I'd rather pay a one time price, aka buying the game, than have a 'free' gacha game whose gacha system feels disconnected from parts of the game?

*(I don't know a lot about PMoons development history, but I think that was the case with Library of Ruina? I don't know if you'd called it a live-service game, but it did have a gradual release and progression, didn't it?)

And this brings me to the Second, which is that, while the lore reasonings behind the Identity system make sense, the majority of the Identities you're rolling for don't actually appear in the story? Many Identities are the Sinners in [blank] Corporation or [blank] Association or [blank] gang, but you don't actually see those 'characters' in the story itself, due to how the Identities operate in basically AUs.

Many other gacha games, for better and for wor Okay, I had this whole long thing written out but that doesn't matter, the point is: In Limbus, you're not rolling for new characters, you're rolling for the Sinners dressed up as interesting characters/concepts. Which ends up straddling this weird line between: the Identities offering insight into both the Sinners and the other character, but also not being enough of either? Some are better, or feel more complete, or more tied in with their Cantos, than others (N-Corp Sinclair, Spicebush Yi Sang, Pequod Heathcliff) but that fact remains that, for example, N-Corp Faust is not Kromer, and at no point in the main story or Canto does Faust appear as such.

I personally don't believe that, in other gacha games, every NPC should be playable (some things are better because they are unattainable), but I feel like the Limbus players currently don't have 'access' to some of the more interesting NPCs, ones that in other gachas they might be able to roll for, and the ones we do have, like Fixer Yuri and Kromer, aren't even the ones we see in the story, it's them met halfway by a Sinner.

I don't really know where I was going with. I just feel that PMoon kinda shot itself in the foot by making a gacha game instead of a different sort of live-service or continuous updated game, and that the gacha system it went with isn't particularly effective.

Forgot to add this, in the book, Dante and Vergilius have a lot of scenes that go:

Dante: *wants to ask something but too intimidated that Vergilius (literal poetry grand master) will think less of him for being confused*

Vergilius: "Don't worry child, I know exactly what you think, here is the answer"

This happens easily 10 times in the book. So yeah those theory about Vergilius understanding clock noises... Think about it...

Canto 5 spoilers inside. A few interesting Limbus x Divine Comedy crossreading stuff :

- Selva Obscura is quite literaly the the first two Cantos of Inferno which happen in the dark forest+Hell entrance. We even meet Lion, Panther and Wolf which represent their animal counterpart in the bool.

- Sin oriented boss (Kromer for Lust, Dongrang for Gluttony) are fought in the order of circles in Hell (Lust is the second circle, Gluttony is third)

- This leaves only Limbus (first circle, where the unbaptized are damned) for Gregor and Rodya cantos. Makes kinda sense how Abnormalities are the cantos boss as there is a light parallel between Abnormalities (entites born before the Light) and unbaptized (born before the Christ)

- I don't know where to put Ishmael canto. Upcoming circles are Greed (not a main sin in LC!) and Wrath, which could both fit Heathcliff storyline as far as we know. In addition Canto V boss does not exactly embody Greed (compare the Mili theme song with the two previous one).

- Speaking of canto 5, Ricardo (Middle Big Bro Hair coupon guy) is the second italian-named midboss to almost kill Dante, after Guido. Divine comedy had a lot of guys named Guido (didn't track all of them) and the most notable of them is much deeper in Hell. Didnt track all the Ricardo either. That book had a lot of Florentians guys.

- Upcoming circles: greed, wrath, heretics, violence, liars and bastards, traitors. 8th circle is notably bigger than the others in the book. Various interesting comparisons with planned Cantos. Ryoshu is roughly scheduled for Violence circle. Outis is perfectly in line for 8th circle, the one where Odysseus is actually damned in the book!

They really can't slot a Farmwatch banner in the planning anymore, can they? Unless double banner, but it makes no sense to tease for the Season 0 one when they could show the tip of the scythe of Farmwatch and people would go crazy.

Anyway I'm happy we get a new ID, it's one I was waiting for since Lost Passenger EGO. I hope he does a lot of air spins like a Yi Sang should.
