Short term 12 starring by Brie Larson,John Gallagher, Jr.,Kaitlyn Dever,Rami Malek,Lakeith Stanfield,Kevin Hernandez, and Melora Walters directed by Destin Daniel Cretton
Genres: Drama
Cast
Brie Larson as Grace Howard John Gallagher, Jr. as Mason Kaitlyn Dever as Jayden Cole Rami Malek as Nate Lakeith Stanfield as Marcus Kevin Hernandez as Luis Melora Walters as Dr. Hendler Stephanie Beatriz as Jessica Lydia Du Veaux as Kendra Alex Calloway as Sammy Frantz Turner as Jack Diana-Maria Riva as Nurse Beth
At short term 12 community for the underprivileged and at-risk youth, the secret couple of Grace and Mason work with devotion as supervisors, consulting the troubled teenagers. Grace is a young counselor trying to do her best for kids who often have been pulled from the worst kinds of home situations. Things are going reasonably well until Grace discovers that she is pregnant. she schedules an appointment for an abortion; she eventually tells Mason about the pregnancy, but not about her plan to have an abortion. Until Jayden came where Grace can relate about the situation Jayden is facing now. Jayden distances herself from the other teenagers as she does not intend to stay at the facility for long, and when her father fails to pick her up on her birthday, she reacts violently towards the staff. Grace is upset by a phone call that reveals her father is being released from prison, and refuses to be consoled by Mason. She arrives at Short Term 12 and discovered that Jayden has been picked up by her father overnight. She is angry at the decision to send Jayden back to her father, but her boss said that Jayden denied that she was abused by him. Later that day, Grace finds that Marcus has attempted to commit suicide after the death of his fish. She doesn’t know what to that’s why Mason came to the rescue but since Grace was so messed up by her thoughts she told Mason that she is planning to abort their baby. Mason calmly said do what ever you want I’m done. Then grace rode the bike to Jayden’s house then went inside with a baseball bat then suddenly jayden saw her. Jayden suggested that they smash his father’s car instead. Grace knew that Jayden was being physically abused by her father and Grace wanted to help her because she doesn’t want Jayden to suffer like her. Grace opens up to Jayden about being sexually abused by her own father, and after Jayden shows Grace bruises from where her father hit her they return together to Short Term 12, where Jayden reports her father for physical abuse. Grace goes home to apologize to Mason. At the end the staffs were all seated in the bench while Mason tell everyone that Marcus has a girlfriend. The movie is great for teenagers like me. My only comment about the movie is that the ending is not quite good because you don’t know what happened to Marcus or to jayden or to the kids in Short term 12 and who killed the fish.

What I learned from the movie is how to create a relationship and connect with different people. Everybody has a different personality and had gone through something but all you need to know is how to be sympathetic.
The most powerful part told by the story was when Marcus sung and Mason played a small drum. The message of the song was really powerful and if you understand it clearly you will feel the emotions of Marcus, he said “ look into my eyes so you know what its like to live a life not knowing what a normal life’s like “ When I heard it I immediately thought that this boy had gone through something really painful in the past and because of this he didn’t know what its like to live a normal life as a teenager.
My favorite character would be Grace because you can see in her how badly she wants to help and serve those kids in Short term 12. When she was young she was sexually abused by his father that’s why she did her best to help Jayden not to feel and suffer the same way as she did. She fights for the right of those kids and she was very sympathetic. Though she wanted to abort her child but the reason why she’s just scared that she would not be a great mother to their baby because the past keeps on haunting her
It reminds me of someone that tried to commit suicide 2 years ago because of depression. She was so depressed and she thinks that no ones there for her. But then she had a change of heart and mind and decided to surround herself with people with a positive outlook in life. She also tried to ask help from therapist to over come her depression.
I would ask grace that How can you help others with their situation when you cant help yourself?

A 19 year old drummer named Andrew idolizes jazz drumming legends like buddy rich and Jo Jones. He is studying at New York’s Prestigious Shaffer Conservatory known as the best music school in New York City. He is determined and he always practice his drumming skills. Until one day while practicing he caught the attention of the terror faculty member of the said school named Terence Fletcher. He is known to be very strict and perfectionist. He looks for best musician for the upcoming competitions. Soon Andrew’s battling with two other drummer for a part in the competition with a bloody hands due to ruptured blisters because of the drum stick. It was so intense and finally Andrew got the part. At the end Andrew never gave up until the last beat of the drum just to show how passionate, how determined and how much he love what he is doing. Whiplash came from a difficult jazz standard repeated played.

I learned that a person has a great chance of being successful when they have a support from their family and friends and when they have a motivator like a coach or teacher. But if you don’t have any of these what you have is your own self. Who will push you to the limit. I remember during our training our coach always say that we need to push our self to the limit then that limit will adjust which we will strive again harder in order for us to achieve. We should not let the pain, insecurities from our co member or teammates, jealousy, negative thought and etc stop us from doing what we love to do instead treat it as a motivator to do better.
For me there are two powerful part in the story. First is when Andrew got late in the competition because the tires of the bus he was in exploded that’s why they have to stop but Andrew rented a car in order for him to get to his destination. He is late as expected and Terence Fletcher gave his part to his co-drummer. He told him that why did he gave his part to his co-drummer and he wanted it back unfortunately, he also forgot his drumstick that’s he went to get it. When he was driving back to the competition, he was hit by a truck but still he continued to play the drum. In this story, I realize that many things will stop you from doing or from reaching your goal but it should not be a hindrance for you in achieving your goal. Second is when Andrew got invited in a another competition and Terence sabotage him. Instead of playing the caravan and the whiplash Terence played another piece. He was humiliated because he doesn’t know the piece and his band mates are mad at him. But in the end he showed his passion and love in playing the drums. He played it with his heart. He never gave up, because it was his dream. He never let anyone stop him from being the great.
My favorite character in the movie is Terence Fletcher. Who is known to be strict and terror. Some don’t understand how he discipline and motivates his members or student. I love the line that he said “I was there to push people beyond what’s expected of them. I believe that’s an absolute necessity” and I agree to this line. Many of us are talented but since some are not being pushed beyond their limit the skills they have vanish. and I think we all need someone like Terrence who will motivates us and discipline us until we become successful.
This movie reminds me of myself because I have dreams and goals in life that someday I want to pursue and no one can stop me from doing what I love. Pain is not a reason. Pain is not an excuse but pain is there to teach you a lesson. Just like in swimming, I am part of the varsity team and when I joined them they were all good while I was not, that’s why I trained harder. I may not have beat their times or record but I know in myself that I did my best. I suffered pain during our training because I could hardly breathe but I didn’t show this to anyone. I just do what I do and prove myself that I could do better. When my career in swimming ended up last year I was happy because I can say that I improve a lot not just my times or my personal best but also my discipline. I am also thankful that I have a coach who is like Terence Fletcher who motivates and inspires me every time I swim; the only difference is their way of disciplining.
I would have ask Andrew how can you maintain your positive outlook in life in achieving your dreams and goals? What are your plan for your future career?

The Art of Getting By stars Freddie Highmore as George, a lonely and fatalistic teen who's made it all the way to his senior year without ever having done a real day of work, who is befriended by Sally (Emma Roberts), a beautiful and complicated girl who recognizes in him a kindred spirit. (c) Fox Searchlight

George is a smart and talented artist who doesn’t do any of his assignments as a result he was put on academic probation. When her mother knew about it she scolded George but he didn’t care. George lacks direction until he met sally. He saw her at the roof top smoking and when a teacher came he immediately pulls a cigarette and takes the blame. Sally looked for him to thank him. At first George feels awkward with sally but as time goes by he soon warms up. On career day, George met a painter named Dustin. Dustin invited George to His apartment to show him his works. George brings sally with him and Dustin seems to like her. On valentines day they both went out and sally asked George to have sex with him but George was so shocked and began not to talk. They went home early. after that night George never talked to sally again. Sally instead invited Dustin to go out and they started Dating. George saw her father sneaking around during the day instead of going to work. When his family had a misunderstanding and his mother decided to have a divorce he starts consoling her and he begin to rethink of his situation. He changed and went to their school to talk to his principal that he will complete his assignments and take the final exam in order for him to graduate. Dustin and while Sally continues being with Dustin. Sally and George meet in a bar, where Sally told george that she's going backpacking with Dustin through Europe, and is skipping the high school graduation ceremony.Sally and George admits that they love each other. George had a change of mind and turns in all his assignments and his art teacher applauds him on his art project. George graduated and George goes back to the art classroom and looks at his art project: Sally's smiling face. Sally, having opted not to go to Europe with Dustin, enters the room and looks at the painting with George.
What I have learned from the movie is that you should not fear life. The moment you wake up you should be thankful and feel blessed. I realized that everyday I should grab the opportunity to make myself better instead of running away from the problems and challenges in life. While you still breathe you should do 100% of your efforts in your day to day activity because you don’t know when will you die. At least when you die you can say to your self that you have fulfilled your mission here on earth with your 100% effort and you will never regret that. It is similar with doing of assignments, George did his assignment in order for him to graduate but in life we should do everything in order for us to succeed.
The most powerful part told by the movie is when George went to the principals office and told his principal that he would do it, that he would do all of his assignments. It’s like saying Yes to responsibilities. As a human being living in this world you cannot avoid responsibilities. But we all have a choice to do it to not do it. If we do it then we get a reward but if we don’t then we need to face the consequences. When George said that He will do it his reward is to graduate. In life when we badly want for something we will do everything just to get that reward.
My favorite character in the movie is George’s Art Teacher, Harris. He said “George, you’re going to have to start digging around in there, so you can develop that talent of yours, so you can start to use that brain of yours, to express that beautiful heart of yours.” and I think Harris motivates George to do better because he can see that George can. I can connect to this quote because sometimes I am also so lazy to do home works and to make an effort to my other subjects but I realize that I should not and I should also start to make an effort, to practice my skills, and use my brain to express my beautiful heart of mine. This quote really motivates me to do better than before.
This movie remind me really of myself. When I was in grade 7 I didn’t care about my grades at all. I don’t put an effort to any of my projects. I don’t review for any of my quizzes and exams but when I was in grade 10 I rethink of my situation and told to myself I want to graduate with honors and I want to experience going up the stage to receive an award every quarter. Like what I have said when you badly want something you will do everything for it. What I did was, when we have performance task I put 101% effort to it, I review when we have quizzes and upcoming periodic examination and also when I have time in school I read books and as a result I graduated with honors and that’s the reward I got because I strive harder than before.
If I had the chance to ask George my question would be : Why did you said “we live alone, we die alone and everything else is just an illusion”?

In today’s generation there are plenty of innovation not just in gadgets but also in Applications. Companies build, redesign, improve different software depending on the needs of the people
so Let me introduce to you my Favorite application that I use everyday to edit my photos.
VSCO CAM
The standard of Mobile Photography
Over 10 million people downloaded and 586,095 people uses this application. Through VSCO you can create, discover and connect. You can shoot and edityour pictures with the presets and advanced camera controls.
EXAMPLE OF PRESETS
you can also follow anyone in VSCO and discover and explore content from the people you follow.
here is an example of a edited picture from vsco ctto

VSCO Cam has a robust assortment of editing tools as well—15 in all. You can adjust a photo’s exposure level, color temperature, contrast, saturation, sharpening, and cropping, as well as perform less common tweaks like adding grain and changing the tint of shadows and highlights. Like several other photo apps, VSCO maintains its own camera roll. You can automatically add photos taken with VSCO to your camera’s roll, or keep them separate—your choice. You can also import photos one at a time into VSCO for editing. The app lets you share images via conventional means, like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, but it desperately wants you to submit your images to the app’s central sharing feature, an online photo gallery called the Grid. It’s curated, which is a bit dangerous: You can easily get lost browsing gorgeous photography from fellow shutterbugs. The only way to get your own shots into the public Grid is to be selected via a mysterious vetting process, but if all you want to do is make your photos available to friends, you can share a URL for the images you add to your own personal Grid.
I really love how this application can beautify a single photo. really love how this application can beautify a single photo. It is perfect for the people who love posting pictures, who loves editing and taking photos and also for the people who are so perfectionist when it comes to their instagram feeds. This app attracts many users because it is aesthetically pleasing. For me, the reason why I love using this application is that I can manipulate my own picture; their Brightness, contrast, saturation, temperature and even you can put filters and grains to make it more pleasing to the eye. I always use this to edit photos which I usually post in Instagram. I am so perfectionist when it comes to my feed so I don’t like a single photo to ruin it .I will rate this app 5 out of 5 because it satisfy my needs.

In a far away land called Zambales a beautiful Princess was born and she was named Mary Elisa Moselina Lara. She grew up in a simple yet happy life surrounded by her family and friends. She is well loved and well cared for. When she reached 3 years her baby brother was born. She was very happy and very fond of him because it was her first time to see a very cute baby. They grew up loving each other not just as brothers and sister but as best friends. She is inseparable with her baby brother. even in all things they are equal that’s why they grew up not knowing the word “jealousy”.
The Prince and The Princess
But one day her almost perfect life changed when The Queen Mother left the country for some reasons. Together with the King Father and her brother they struggled in life in the beginning of this journey. In time they started to accept their fate as they understand the reasons why the Queen Mother has to leave. They maybe separated by distance but they have realized and learned that life was still beautiful and her almost perfect life is still the same. Struggles are normal for each and every one of us because there is no perfect in this life but Princess Elisa together with her family tried their best to make this imperfect life perfect. The princess realized that the struggle she is facing is part of her life story and journey and these struggles and challenges made her who she is now. Challenges are made for a specific reason; it is made to build you up, not only physically but even mentally and spiritually. You should not give up when you are given a challenge, because it is given to you in order to make you better.
Born with a very soft heart her experiences made her strong, understanding, loving at the same time tough. Tough in a sense of being assertive. Her life situation changed her in a good way from being dependent to independent, and from being a sister and a friend to her brother to being a best friend and a second mother. in a very young age the Princess realized that Storms don’t last forever.
“The life is not meant to be lived in one place”
The princess loves adventure and excitement. To add a little zest to her life she pushes her self to do something even though she is not comfortable doing it. She loves to try new things and she loves challenging her own self. Her life outside the castle walls is not easy.
It’s not easy to change your habits and routines It’s not easy to face your fears that has been hanging around It’s not easy to change your mindset It’s not easy to explore your fear of success and fear of failure It’s not easy to grow to your next level It’s not easy to be a daughter, a sister and a second mother to your brother It’s not easy to try something new and It’s not easy to practice believing in yourself
But Princess Elisa tries her best to be positive at all times and to see the good in everything. It seems hard but she believes that you can only grow if you are willing to feel uncomfortable in trying something new. According to Robin Sharma “Don’t live the same year 75 times and call it a life”
because…
Everything you’ve ever wanted is one step outside the castle walls.
FAVORITE COLOR: Pink and Turquoise FAVORITE SONG: Broken Vessels FAVORITE BAND/SINGER: Hillsong HOBBY: Watching vlogs in youtube, editing photos and eating (hehe) SPORT: Swimming is lyf
FAVORITE FOOD: Chicken Breast FAVORITE DRINK: Frappe FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR:Cookies and Cream TALENTS: I can sing but I’m a frustrated dancer. Still searching for my other talents… MY BIGGEST FEAR: Aside from losing my family, I hate insects that flies! ONE THING THAT I’M THANKFUL FOR: My family WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MYSELF: When I see the good in everything. WHAT I HATE MOST ABOUT MYSELF: When I can easily forgive someone even though he/she doesn’t deserve it. THE ONE PLACE I WANT TO BE RIGHT NOW: MALDIVES IN THE FUTURE, WHERE DO I WANT TO LIVE?: Somewhere in Europe or at Barcelona,Spain FOODS I EAT WHEN I’M STRESS: Ice cream or Chocolate or Tokneneng (street food)
!!!FUN FACT!!! * whenever I accomplish something at school or any achievement that I made I usually reward myself by eating tokneneng plus a mango shake outside our school *
There are certain things that we can control and there are many things that we can’t but lets just focus on the things that we can control in order for us to be successful. 10 years from now I’ll be 28 years old and by that time i plan on finishing my studies if I will take up Medicine after my Pre med but If I decided to take up Accountancy then probably ten years from now I see myself as a successful Accountant working abroad. When I was young my dream was to travel the whole world alone or with my family. Sometimes I also day dream and see myself at the airport with my luggage and waiting for my flight to New York or Europe or in Maldives. This dream of mine is my inspiration, that’s why even how hard or difficult my life would be 10 years from now I will persevere to become successful and to make my family proud. My family is also one of my inspiration in life and the hardships that they have gone through serves as a lesson for me in the near future. Through this journey I will bring with me the values and knowledge that I have learned in St. Paul University and I will never forget how this institution molded me to become a God fearing and a better person.
I know that the road to the future will be difficult and bumpy but this is not a reason for me to give up. I will endure the pain and will face any challenges with confidence because I know that it will be worth it because The best view comes after the hardest climb.
I have to be honest that until this time I am still undecided of the course that I will take up in college. I am torn apart between Medicine and Accountancy.
ABM was not the best choice to be honest. The reason why I took up ABM was just to avoid the two pre-calculus subject in STEM but I regret that.
Honestly I really want to be a Doctor someday but because of my dream of travelling the world I want to take up Accountancy and study my masters degree in abroad then I will apply a job there. Also accountancy is just a 5 year course compared to Medicine. In medicine you will study for almost 10 years before getting a job. Which is which?
COURSE THAT I WILL TAKE UP IN COLLEGE
Like what I have said I am still undecided of which course I will be taking in college but here is my 2 choices:
ACCOUNTANCY because it is open to a wide range of career opportunities in professional accountancy services, commerce, finance, as well as many areas outside accounting and also it is very in demand in many companies abroad.
PRE MED ( MED TECH) then MEDICINE because I love science and learning at the same time I would be able to help the less fortunate and the sick and save lives. This reason is a cliche but I have made a promise to myself when I was 11 years old when my grandfather died that when I grow old I also want to cure other people so that they will not die.
WHAT TOPIC WOULD I LIKE TO LEARN MORE?

I want to learn more about Photo editing and video editing. I think I will be able to apply this in the near future and editing is one of my stress reliever and I want to discover my inner artist spirit! PAWEEER! hehehe.

OUR COOL SUBJECT TEACHER MR. CARLOS B. JR
Question:
What was your goal when you were still in my age?
