EDITED PHOTO SHOOT IMAGES
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These were my favourite images and videos from my photoshoot, so I decided to use them while experimenting with different editing techniques. Firstly, I used a fish eye filter to achieve the circular effect that can be seen, which I like as I feel it looks really good. I then experimented with the different elements of the image (such a as colour, shadow and saturation).

METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION
BANDEAU PIECE:
Draw around all four princess line dress blocks, but only to the waist line on all pieces.
Measure from waist up to where I want the top to be, using mannequin to measure. This was 7cm from waist.
Then, shorten all pieces by 7cm.
Lay pattern pieces onto fabric, add 1cm seam allowance / measure to straight of grain.
Then, cut out pieces, as many as needed.
Mark on wrong sides and cut in darts for all pieces.
Sew centre front piece to side front piece (pin so darts line up).
Sew side front piece side back piece.
Then, sew side back piece to back piece.
Repeat all these steps to create another top which will be the lining.
Attach the lining to the top, sewing top and bottom - right sides together.
Pull the right side of the garment out using side.
Press.
Overlock both sides.
Add Velcro. Fold over the overlocked sides slightly, then place squares of Velcro on sides and sew around edge.
JACKET PIECE:
To create pattern pieces, draw around both basic sleeve piece and basic bodice pieces (front and back).
Add 1cm seam allowance.
Cut needed wadding out for each piece.
Sew both front pieces to back piece (sew at shoulder and under arm). With wadding.
Fold collar (long way) with wadding inside, pin along top of garment and sew.
Repeat fourth step for interfacing and sew along top.
Sew along bottom half way, pull out and sew rest.
Add zip.
SLEEVES:
Lay wadding on wrong side of sleeve pattern.
Using tailors chalk and a ruler, measure and mark where lines are wanted to create puffer effect.
Sew along lines to create the puffer effect.
Fold sleeves (long ways) with wadding facing outside and sew along side seam.
Fold interfacing pattern and sew along side seam.
Place interfacing inside sleeve (wadding outside) and sew along bottom.
Pull right side out and then fold black interfacing back inside.
Attach sleeve to arm holes, matching the darts up while doing so.

EXPERIMENTING WITH DESIGN BOARD LAYOUTS
Here are some images of my experimenting with design board layouts. To find what style board o wanted to do for my final designs, I experimented with adding more elements (such as card and images) or having less. However, in the end I found I like the boards with lots of images and different elements the best, so that is the style I used.

DESIGNS WITH MEDIA ADDED
Here are all of my designs with media added. I experimented with a range of media, such as collage, pro markers, watercolour and acrylic paint.
I enjoyed experimenting with different media, as it gave me the opportunity to consider the best media’s to use when creating my final nine designs. My favourite media to use was probably watercolour, which is new as I haven’t used watercolour much in my designs previously as I usually find the colour quite dull. However, this time I found that if I layered the colours, I could achieve the bold colours I wanted. The most challenging media for me was probably pro markers, as although I found them the easiest to create different skin tones, I found that they bleed through a lot.

For this design, I used pro markers, watercolour and acrylic paint.

CONSTRUCTING MY FINAL GARMENT: WADDING
After constructing the bandeau top for my garment, I moved onto constructing the sleeve piece, which is puffer jacket style sleeves and  collar that sits above the chest, creating a cut out effect between the bandeau top. After dying more fabric for my sleeve piece (using the same technique as last time), I pinned my final pattern pieces onto my fabric and cut them out, making sure to cut in the darts after this and mark my wrong sides using tailors chalk. After I had cut out all of the pattern pieces needed, I then checked my drafting pattern pieces to see which pattern pieces needed wadding, and how many cuts were needed. Wadding is a light, full material that sits between fabric and will help me achieve the puffy effect in my garment. I pinned all of the pattern pieces needed onto my sheet of wadding, and proceeded to cut them out; this didn’t take very long, as the wadding is very light and thin, so it was quite easy to cut through. Once I had done this, I was ready to begin constructing the sleeve piece of my garment.
