What kind of relationship do you think Sidwell had with Manuela? Personally I think it’s interesting that C’Tron seems to remember all that, even though she’s not there in CrossWorlds to prompt his memories. There might be a close relationship he remembers that he never had any part in. Is Tronny a divorcee?

Yeah theres a lot of possible ways to interpret their relationship. I mean clearly it was important to sidwell since this is how he describes it:

But like, knowing him that could mean a lot of things lol. I will say on my first playthrough, given the way he talks about her in the past tense and his interest in making AI copies of people, i thought it was going to be a "guy trying to unethically bring back his dead wife/partner" kind of situation. I currently DONT think thats what it is though bc nothing ever hints at him rly wanting to use evotar tech for those purposes.

Tronnys description isnt very helpful either but it IS notable that he remembers her as much as he does. Like, the dlc literally starts with his(/sidwell's) memories of her. Well and tbh i think that kind of makes sense bc the photo of her in sidwells office is one of the last things he remembers seeing before he died teehee

Anyway after digging through dialogue files a little bit he really never specifies the nature of their relationship beyond "we met through work". Sidwell exclusively talks about her in the past tense, keeps a photo of her on his desk and seems to only have positive regard towards her; it could make sense to infer that she is No Longer Alive based on all these things. However i think thats kind of boring, and there are more interesting potential reasons why their relationship ended.

Heres some dialogue from one of leas dreams that i think is relevant:

Ok first of all, "why cant we all just get along even though we have different opinions about whether torture is ok" is an absurdly funny thing for him to say. MORE IMPORTANTLY, this tells us this is NOT the first time he has blown up his relationships with people by trying to rope them into something incredibly unethical & that its a real sore spot for him

SO if anything, i would like to think THATS how his relationship with manuela ended and why she is not in his life anymore--they met through work, became close, he felt comfortable enough around her to Be Himself, unfortunately Being Himself meant expressing some kind of insane morally abhorrent worldview to her and/or asking her to collaborate on some kind of evil shit, after which she noped out.

My personal opinion is she is still alive and out there somewhere and could even have helped in tracking down sidwell after the events of the game because presumably she would have known his real name! Although idk, maybe shes being threatened by whatever criminal networks he was part of and cant speak freely to authorities abt it, that would make sense too. THats kind of grim but it would be pretty on brand for sidwell to like fondly reminisce about this woman all wistfully and make everybody think shes a loved one who passed away when in reality shes. his alive ex who hes actively threatening to keep her from telling anybody about his business ideas for the Torment Nexus
