Thoughts on Trinity Santos

As brash and tactless Trinity Santos is in The Pitt, she's also got an overwhelming moral compass and—crucially—consciousness of her own power and the desire to affect change.

She thinks Langdon is stealing meds AND she's determined to prove it to someone who matters.

She thinks her patient is molesting his daughter AND she finds a way to stop him.

She suspects Whittaker is houseless AND she provides him with shelter because she herself has the room.

At every stage, her inkling of a suspicion is most easily disregarded, but she opts for the harder route of digging in and getting to the bottom of things. It's her first day and Langdon is the favourite senior resident. She should just shut up. It's her first day and she only has someone else's suspicion that the patient is a predator. She should just treat him for the fall and move along. It's the end of her first shift, she hasn't necessarily received a lot of warmth from her peers. She should just go home and get some rest. But if her gut is right, that means someone is being wronged, someone is being harmed. If her gut is right and she does nothing, she's complicit.

Trinity Santos is smart enough to recognize that inaction in the face of injustice isn't a morally neutral enterprise. And yeah, she's undiplomatic and too blunt, she rubs people the wrong way, but she's also determined to make a difference for the better where it matters.
