My ancestors would have wanted to be able to keep their loved ones around longer, and not lose them too early/too soon to childbirths, injuries, bacterial infections, mental illnesses, and diseases that are curable and/or preventable in our modern day life.

i do think that a paralyzing fear of being Problematic/associating with Problematic Things has led people with decent politics to avoid taking positions where they have huge potential to help other people, just because they might have to work within a broken system

But people won't back the fuck off and let people live their lives so here we still are, still on the front lines with this shit.
