The Milliput stayed fixed and I was able to free up the mechanism to turn without any trouble. I chiseled out a bit of the dried clay to make sure the gears were turning freely. Turns out, the head isn’t securely fastened on and has about a 30 degree slip before it engages the timer. This is the reason behind the two planes not syncing up.
The JB Weld did fail with only a slight tap from the chisel as I was trying to get the gears to move freely. The copper tape does not hold to the wood tightly. I was able to chisel away the excess from the wood and the timer.
