so many drarry fics retcon both characters. like they have to make either draco or harry an angsty, apologetic uwu when the best thing about a potential draco and harry dynamic is the SASS turned up to 1000000%. like both draco and harry have confidence and arrogance big enough to rival gods. harry "no need to call me sir, professor" potter and draco "i know my parents lives are at stake and that i'm failing but i don't want your help snape because the glory is mine and i can do it better than you anyways" malfoy. draco is really intelligent while harry is insanely talented when it comes to magic. the moment you try to top/bottom them or have some kind of power imbalance, you've missed. because they're evenly matched in ego, wit and will and NEITHER of them have inferiority complexes. draco just likes to peacock in front of harry and harry's constantly trying to squish the annoying bug that will not die which is draco. they are each other's perfect torment because they have what the other desires and that will always make them stupid with rage, unable to stop thinking about each other. they are each other's mirror of erised.

I remember the name of the fic, I think it was called ‘Wild’ and was a post hogwarts au where Harry was living in Ireland ?? With some oc witches and then Draco turns up out of the blue to study potions there or something like that. There’s a lot of gardening and outsdoorsy magic happening I think. However I can’t find this fic anywhere!!! Also it was pretty long like maybe 100k words and def rated E.

I went through a phase of only reading 8th year fics when I first got into the fandom which I think is because they felt safe and familiar in the setting I knew so well

I’m still such a sucker for some 8th year action (bonus points if there’s a good party scene) and would loooove some recs if anyone’s got some

He cries out for them, cries out for- for Sirius—but then a pair of hands finds him, holds him, pulling him tight against another warm body, stroking through his hair again and again, and again, until he remembers: he’s in their dormitory, his and Malfoy’s, and it’s eighth year, at Hogwarts. It’s eighth year, and it’s over.

Have people read Wild by orphan_account????? It’s in my top three drarry fics ever but I’ve never heard anyone talk about it!

Also, annoyingly, the author’s tumblr link is broken so there’s no way to find them (if anyone has ANY intel please let me know). Would highly highly recommend for a good medium length fic (93k ish) with beautiful beautiful characterisation and bonus! it’s set in Ireland with some fab OCs

Just reread The Bolthole by Aideomai, @tepre and GallaPlacida which is absolutely one of my All Time Favourite Fics I looooove a past relationship theme and Draco’s characterisation is to actually die for (never thought I’d be rooting for Ron and draco in a drarry fic… #dronforever) . Aideomai and Tepre pls end the five year hiatus I need more of your gorgeous writing
