Tuesday 14 Nov 17 Unit 6 Critical Approaches (Stuff to do...)
Chunk 1) Select a film, TV programme or game of your choice, gather as much quantitative research (statistical data, target audience) as you can, present and discuss in own words what the information is telling you.‘Unit 6 Task 1c.’
Chunk 2) Afterwards, you then need to gather some qualitative (primary) data and present your findings (SCREEN GRABS ARE GOOD!!) via a tumblr post ‘Unit 6 Task 1c’ and discuss as much as possible what you discovered.
Emma Hint: You can use the class by creating a few key questions in relation to your product and devise a SurveyMonkey questionnaire or if your product is more niche then perhaps carry out a 1-1 interview (can record on audio and upload as evidence on tumblr) or gather a few people to do a focus group…
—————————————————————-
Chunk 3) YOU MUST DISCUSS THE ‘PROS AND CONS’ OF USING BOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARY METHODS USED (Unit 6 Task 1d) and answer the following questions… WHAT METHOD PROVED TO BE THE MOST USEFUL? LIKEWISE WHAT METHOD PROVED INEFFECTIVE???WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY NEXT TIME?
Only move onto Task 2… when you have checked all of Task 1 is fully complete:
Chunk 4) Select either a) two different magazine covers or b) websites and analyse how they are different (e.g. use of words/ text, images, fonts, colours symbolism, narrative, anchorage, captions, symbolic/ visual codes and mode of address, interactivity). (Hashtag: Unit 6 Task 2a).
Chunk 5) Then select one of the above and create a questionnaire to assess how other people think about either your selected magazine cover or website. Did they think the same as you, did they see it in the same way? Compare the results received by others with your own analysis and discuss in your own words on tumblr. (Hashtag: Unit 6 Task 2b).

Please write-up (in your own words) the information discussed relating to the media usage (weekday) we collated last week.
Suggest possible reasons for the final question posed.
