I'll never know how athletes put up with that bullshit. Such a headache for you guys. Yeah, keep distracted and worry about it when something happens. I'm doing much of the same right now. back in New York for a while, so relaxing, and taking it easy.

I am getting to the point now when I just wish this transfer would get sorted. There is rumours of teams that I could go to, yet my current want me to stay unless they get a certain amount for me. Of course its going to be all about that. I’m just catching up with family and friends and not thinking about it. How have you been? Busy? Or just taking it easy?

Is that playing dirty or is that playing smart? I don't know, tomato, tomato, as the saying goes. People are attentive creatures, that is for sure. They will see something in nothing, or see nothing at all. I will say that I far enjoy Instagram more than I do anything else. Twitter was just tedious, and everything moved too quickly. Mind you that is an age thing, so you might not quite understand what I'm saying. That is why some people that move to the UK from other countries may develop a more English accent because you're constantly around it. It is a rather odd thing to think about, though. If you can change it, you must be able to change it back, eventually, I would think? Like an uno reverse card. We're just wrapping up filming, so i'm going to guess next spring, maybe sooner. I'll definitely keep you in the loop, though. That is the correct answer to that. Means you've been having fun. I've heard really good things about "The Boys". I will have to check it out. Surely you must be used to that since you did Gossip Girl? Or was the scheduling for that much different?

I agree. It was a compliment to begin with, but I made it even better, I think. Lily’s eyebrows? How oddly specific, but I can sort of see what they’re saying! I did a gala with Lily last year and she was a sweet heart. Whose older? I think that technically answers that question! Yes, I agree, they all look very similar. I was talking to Sarah and she mentioned Adele, but not Emily, so I will bug her about it. I’ve been good, busy with this new star wars series, but so excited for everyone to see it. I didn’t realize how long it was until you said something. It has been a while. How have you been? Staying out of trouble?

You certainly did. Oh yeah, she is super nice and all but, as much as I adore her, the fact that I am older, and I think therefore you’re choosing very good reasoning here, she plays dirty and wouldn’t let that count. I think if it wasn’t for Instagram I probably wouldn’t even have noticed it but I think it’s fascinating. Especially when you’re not at all related to that person and everybody is convinced you are their brother or sister. I’ve heard that if you hang out with a person a lot, you’ll adapt their mannerisms at some point and you’ll start looking alike after a while without noticing it yourself and I think that’s a little freaky. New Star Wars series? Damn, I’m so out of the loop but remind me once you know when it’s going to be released because I definitely need to check that out. Me? Staying out of trouble? I don’t know how to do that. I’ve been good though, mostly busy filming this show called The Boys that I’m part of because I was bored and thought I’d dedicate my life to filming months on end every year as long as the show is getting renewed for a new season.

That’s true. I have the mug that he got me that says ‘Keep Calm and Love Colin Firth’ for Christmas. It’s one of my favorite mugs. I agree, cookies and tea are key to comfort.

She actually has a movie out right now that her boyfriend directed and she starred in called Birthday Cake. It also has Penn Badgley and Ashley Benson in it, among many others. Her other most known one are a movie called Groove and Maestro, and then a bunch of short films that I can also give you the name of if you'd like. No, she is more local, does a lot of online stuff, but just started doing tattoo's as well, so she's done a few on my arms.

I definitely will! Clara is actually an actress slash director slash producer right now. She has been in a couple different small indie films so far, one of which I had a part in, so seeing her embrace that side of her has been a real pleasure. My daughter Esther is more of a photographer, art type of creator which is fantastic, and the other two appreciate my work but are interested in their own thing which is totally fine by me! As long as they do what makes them happy I am content.

Sounds good with you, sounds good to me! Oh they do. I hear people who buy sets of two, one for show and one to use. Which I think is dumb, because even though it’s very open not everyone is going to want to gaze at your collection like a museum. Scan over it yes, but always look probably not. No worries if that’s how you feel on the topic, thanks for being open about it.

It was. That was the first trip that sent us on our way, then we did Long way down which was from Scotland down to the tip of south Africa, and then we just did Long Way Up in 2019, and we started in Patagonia, and travelled all the way up to Los Angeles. Each one of them you can watch, if you'd like. Makes you feel like you were part of the trip if I'm being honest! I know, fate works in mysterious ways, and I will never be able to explain the feeling. What are the chances I would walk into that particular camp and then find the little girl that I would adopt? Crazy. So she was born the same year as my other daughter Esther, so they're both 20. She loves it, ya, and actually joined me for a bit of the last trip. It was nice to have her out on the trip, and break it up. You spend so much time away from friends and family, that getting to see one of them, especially one of your daughters, was delightful. No, Mary and I aren't together anymore. We wanted to make it last, but we couldn't. It was amicable, though. Eve, not so much. We get along for the sake of our children, but I don't think there is anyone in the world she hates more then me. Which is fair, because I hate me for what I did to her. We were married and best friends for 22 years. Wonderful years. I didn't go into the film set thinking anything about Mary, but you get to know her and she is just--magical, and so sweet. I fell for her. I didn't intend to, but I did, and that is that.

We called it Long Way Round, since it was the long way around the world to New York. At one point in the trip we were travelling through a really rough patch in Mongolia. We kept falling every minute or so because the sand was just too thin and it was torture. We stopped and talked with our directors and talked to our wives and were trying to make a decision whether or not we should go take another path back to Russia and then cross into China that way. I remember Eve telling me that the hardships were part of the reason we wanted to do this trip, because it was the adventure of travelling on a bike, and gave me this new found determination to get through it. So, Charley and I got back on our bikes and continued to head in the direction we originally planned. Along the way we would stop at different UNICEF children centers and visit them for a couple hours or so to see how they’re doing, play with the kids, you know. And there was a young girl there 2 at the time who was the cutest little girl I had ever seen and her name was Jamyan. I became so attached to her, and when I got home I talked to Eve and we ended up adopting her. Looking back on it if we hadn’t have taken that way through Mongolia I never would’ve met my third daughter, and I wouldn’t have her. It’s really emotional. You are one of the few I feel, but that is okay, honestly. We separated in 2017, and the divorce was finalized in 2020. On the set of Fargo, I developed feelings for Mary Winistead, and well, I didn’t act on the at the time, but I was honest with Eve and we couldn’t recover from it. I don’t blame Eve, though. I wish it wouldn’t have happened, but all we can do now is move forward for the girls. You definitely should’ve, and everybody knows it! It is really good, probably the most interesting of late. Of course I will let you know!

I am shocked and amazed just thinking about the idea of making a road trip like that, you practically traveled around the world, that’s fucking brave and so exciting! That’s definitely something I would have loved to do if I was thirty years younger. I lived some kind of adventures on road trips but nothing close to this that you are telling me Ewan. And now this is officially one of my favorite stories ever! isn’t it amazing how fate works? you found your little girl in the most beautiful way, you and her, both, are very lucky for have found each other. I am touched by how beautiful it is! How old is she now? she must love to hear the story about how her dad crossed the whole world to find her. I am amazed.  I am sorry things didn’t worth with Eve. Are you and Mary are still together or…? We have a lot in common McGregor, A LOT and well I can understand very well how a film set is one of the most appealing places to fall in love with someone even if there are someone else at home but good for you, you were honest and I suppose you have a great relationship with both women at this point?

Please be amused. I am rarely ever serious, and luckily I got that from my parents. Although, if the situation calls for it, I will obviously be serious or try really hard to be. Humor is my coping mechanism for pretty much everything. I am sure they will, I can't imagine why they would stop now! That sounds like a very nice time. For me and for them. I am not sure if they'll be around, but if my second-oldest is around in New York I'll ask her. How many do you have? How old?

Well, we hope. I don’t know what happened all those years. I don’t think he is that much older than me though, so maybe he is my long lost brother. She is super talented, and always has been. They are 25, and 20. My other 20 year old is just getting into it, so I will keep you updated. Although who knows they will probably show it to the youngest one who is 11, soon enough. They are definitely fans. That would be so lovely of you to do. They would love that, if it’s really no bother. Are you in New York or LA? I am making a trip out there soon to see them, so we will have to plan to get together for some drinks, or something.

i’m not sure if i should feel bad or amused right now, so please tell me which one! otherwise i’m going to go with amused and probably get it wrong. that is so sweet! it’s no bother at all, really. we love meeting our fans and knowing that they are bringing each other into the show, that makes it even better. i hope that they keep listening because we have some special guests on the way that i have a feeling they are going to love. i’m in between right now but soon i’ll be going home to my farm in New York for a little while. so you should come have drinks with me there. my kids are with their dad, so it won’t be hectic and you can bring your girls along if you want. they can dig through all of my old boxes of One Tree Hill memorabilia i took from set.

I know, it’s quite incredible. I never imagined I would have four girls but it’s been absolutely life changing. Clara is now 25, Esther and Jamyan are both 20, and Anouk is 10. I don’t think you would know the story about Jamyan, since the motorcycle trip happened We filmed that movie. So if you would like to hear it id be more than welcome to share it! They are proud, but it was tough for Clara there for a while. When Eve and I divorced it was just a messy situation. Not necessarily to do with me but I felt responsible. I do think if you would’ve been in Hotel that could’ve been a contender too. I am a fan of his world too! It’s very diverse. I should be flying back soon enough, I am going to see my daughters soon, so as soon as I’m in town I’ll let you know! Yes you are correct!

Are you guys close in age? It's great acting exercises and you don't even have to pay for it. Rebel is a classic movie! I think if I had to choose a favorite Natalie film it would have to be Sex and the Single girl. Although, This Property is Condemned is pretty good as well, and you get Robert Redford. That is precisely what I was thinking! He could play the middle character between Alec Guinness and I! It’d be perfect. Oh, that is too funny. You should be like “Yeah, it’s almost like we share DNA,” or something witty. I could kind of see the essence of Natalie a little bit. I kinda see Lauren Cohan, though too? Might be the hair and eye colour combo that is giving me that impression. Both beautiful, though. It’s nice to meet you Alex!

It would be amazing! Like..if it’s his first foray out into the public attempting to be his old self again and solve problems but then he gets into more trouble and then is determined to become a hermit. Nah, usually I just tell them I’ve never heard of him. It’s always really weird during holidays, too. Because if someone ever says we look like who we are we always say ‘yeah it’s weird we get that a lot” but usually with weird accents just to throw people off. Actor kid things. Ooh, maybe! She’s lovely. I love Natalie Wood. Rebel Without a Cause was one of my favorite movies as a teenager. What have you been up to this summer?
