it’s isolating. I should know that it happens to everyone but my mind only reaches to the borders of my body. Having a body is in itself a limitation. We expand that limitation through social actions yet fear the detachment of oneself? It’s isolating to desire two things at once.

I need to figure out a project to do... It’s always hard to know where the starting line is with a new long winded project is... it’s hard to describe

Everyday I’m tempted to downgrade my phone to a prepaid POS for emergencies and build a micro laptop from a SBC to browse and message on. I hate the planned obsolescence, the fees, ever soaring costs, and failed updates. But most of all the unrestricted spying done by my phone’s manufacturer, service provider, government, and basically anyone else because the previous three can’t handle their own data security.

Today I...
went to the book fair today and found so many amazing publishing companies. i will be sending out emails to them this up coming week. probably with the same questions im trying to formulate in my head as the ones i want to ask scanlation teams and fanzines. different veins in the same body. I feel like these formal emails will give me some good idea how to contact the groups i’ve been interested in. I need to make more of an effort to find out how to be approachable. Writing here my thoughts on the matter is one way im trying to do that. Hopefully if one sees this writing they will have an idea that I am actually interested in communicating. Or maybe it has the opposite effect. either way I was having a great time today and got a few books too!

Scanlation Teams and What I know and don’t
I probably should begin with questions that I would want to ask.
What is the collaboration process for a scanlation team? I always see them promoting their discord. I’m not very well-versed in that application but they just seem to allow people to join and converse with them? Is it that easy to ask questions. I feel because I have no real role within these groups I would come off as unapproachable and rude. So for the time being I will hold back.
How were the groups formed? Is this the same as a school club? My high school did not have a strong club or sports mentality and I always ran with the groups that weren’t the best influence. I don’t have a strong sense of what it means to collaborate on work or projects. Only recently have I been looking into them more and appreciating what clubs stand for and all that. What is the mentality of a club?
In what perspective does a scanlation team view themselves to their audience? Some are very anonymous. Hardly giving any information on how they perform. Others ask for help (completely reasonable). While another tactic is to have self inserts and the foot of the chapter. Giving the personal opinions of the team. It’s a mix and a wide variety of things that make me wonder about the image of a group. Which in turn comes back to the question of the team dynamic not only within themselves but also their dynamic with the rest of the world.

about scanlation teams. I have been reading a lot of manga especially during the pandemic and I always find the teams who are putting their heart and soul into the distribution of these works (sorry for the lack of legality of it but shhh) really impactful. I love reading the personalized messages they have at them header and foot of the scans and want to really know more about what happens on day to day with the teams.

Hello..
i have made a new blog this is just another way for me to come into contact with the things around me. Maybe I’ll use my anime tumblr I've had for ages but for now this will do. Se-Ama is something so surrounded by anime yet something i really care for and nourish in my practice and everyday life. Honestly I’m a little nervous to be showcasing my weird obsession with anime in such a broad way but i really think its important so ill just be running with it
