Wow. It's crazy how fast this trip has gone. For those of you who don't know, we got this map at the beginning of the trip. It's a scratch off. As we've visited each state we've scratched it off. Although it hasn't been scratched off yet, we are currently in Illinois. From here we head to Iowa, then Minnesota, then we head through Wisconsin back home to Michigan.

No Editing?
Ok. So, I found out pretty quick that just stitching together a few clips that were taken throughout the day does not make a good video. I'll still only be doing minimal editing so that the blogs can be posted the day they're taken. We'll still have today's video up today, unless we get hit with an EMP or there's no signal where we are.

New Vlog Series
Starting tomorrow the four of us kids will be making a video blog, or vlog, series on our YouTube channel. Each day, one of us will be videoing throughout the day. At the end of the day I'll be stitching the clips together quickly and posting the video on YouTube. There won't be any editing or anything done to the video other than putting it together as one video. Of course, we're open to suggestions of things we could do to make the videos better. There is a button on our website that will take you right to our channel.

The first time I tried Pibb was on a youth group trip in sixth grade. We were at Ace Resorts Campground, or something like that, in West Virginia. There was a vending machine near the bathhouses. It was a Coca-Cola machine so i knew most of the drinks. There was one drink i didn’t know. Obviously, it was Pibb. Being the person I am, I had to try it. It is still the best flavored pop I have ever had. I’ve heard it compared to Dr Pepper, but I don’t really like Dr Pepper, so...
Anywho, we stopped at as gas station along our route in West Virginia, and they had Pibb! I was super exited. For one, Pibb is the best pop ever, and two, One of the things i was looking forward to with this trip was trying new foods around the U.S. So far we’ve had lobster in Maine, “pies” (pizza) in New York, and now Pibb from West Virginia. It’ll be fun to see what’s next. If you’re from up north. and you’re ever down south, you have to try to find yourself some Pibb.

Verses by the Day
I'm starting a Facebook/Tumblr series called Verses by the Day. So here's what this is... Every day I'll be posting a verse or two from the Bible that correspond with the date. Today is 9/12, so the verses will be from any book of the bible, chapter 9 verse 12. The verses will also all be from the NIV. Pretty simple. My Facebook is Jonny Bazzle, and the Tumblr blog name is versesbytheday.

9/11
Today is 9/11, the day the world stopped turning. Yesterday, we were able to see the memorial pools at ground zero. I know it would make more sense to wait a day to see it on 9/11, but we would not have been in the area, and it would have been very crowded as they do a ceremony every year and many of the victims families attend. We also saw the Statue of Liberty from the Staton Island Ferry.

We Drove Into the Delaware River
So. As of today we have been in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C., Delaware, and New Jersey. In D.C., we saw the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Capital Building, the National Zoo, and we stood outside the White House. We also got to see a lesser known monument, the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Island. Currently, we are at New Life Island Camp. Yes, it's an actual island. No, there is not a bridge. This would not be legal today, but in the 50s, someone decided to lay down a road in the river. The RV was actually in about three inches of water. And we had to go down a very steep hill to get to the river. If you want to see it happen, there will be a video of it on our YouTube channel. There will be a link to the channel on the website some time soon.

Well, we've left Ohio.
We pulled out of the driveway at my grandparents place on Monday. We are currently in Pennsylvania, where we'll be staying with my mom's first hostess' family. We had to park the rv at an auto store last night, but we'll be staying at a state park tonight. Tomorrow morning we're heading south towards Gettysburg.

So, we finally came up with a design for a shirt. It’s pretty simple but has a lot of meaning.

We've Left the Springs
So, we are currently in Ohio at my grandparents place. In about two weeks we will be officially on the road. We've had a very busy summer at the Springs, and we enjoyed every bit of it. I can't wait to go back.

We're Going Camping
This past week, the camp was filled with campers. There were junior campers; grades 3-5; sprinkles; preschool-2nd grade; and junior high girls; grades 6-8. On Sunday, the next group of campers arrive. My sisters and I are going to be campers this week. Sydney and I will be senior high campers, Brooklyn will be a junior high camper, and Jordyn will be a junior camper. I will also be adding a contact us button on the site if you have any questions about anything. God bless!

Website is Up and Running
The website for our road trip around the U.S. has been published! There are six of us; my parents, me, and my three sisters. We are currently living in our class A bunkhouse motor home at The Springs summer camp. We will be here until the end of June. After that we will start our trip in Ohio, then travel up to Maine, and then follow the coast south. We’re going to spend about a week in each state. After that, we have a rough outline of where we will go from there, but nothing is set in stone. If you haven’t seen the website yet, the web address is exitthefreeway.com.
