A slight smile crept onto her face as she leaned against a nearby wall, one arm crossed over her stomach with her other elbow propped on top. "You certainly know how to get on my good side--," she paused, realizing she hadn't gotten the boy's name. "What's your name?"

"Yes. Some are simply meant to be peasant their whole lives, which…seems to be the majority of this school’s population. They need leaders, like me…or you, perhaps."

"Pleasure meeting you, Xue," Eydis replied, filing the name in her memory. "Tell me, what would you do if you ruled the world?"

( ☾’ )      ”Thank god someone has the same mind set as me.” Xue glanced at the other’s hand, quirking an eyebrow at her before shaking her hand. “Xue Fang Yu.”

She quirked a brow, not really knowing what he meant. She made a mental note to do research on this thing he called "Las Vegas" later on. "It is," she replied, messing with her nails as she spoke. "Where I come from, you could marry your siblings if you wanted to. But I find that to be a gross idea."

"The whole wedding booth concept is new to me. It reminds me of…ah…Las Vegas? Yes. That’s the place." He nodded to himself. "Marrying cousins is normal, though, is it not?"

"Indeed. Although I prefer the term ‘leadership’ course — it sounds less villainous. Granted, only a few of us seem capable…"

She chuckled, smirking slightly and she raised a brow. "Are you trying to say something?"

13. Crying

Panicking, she searched frantically throughout the school for her favorite red scarf. Other people wouldn't give a care if they lost their scarf like she did. They could easily go out and buy a knew one without a second thought. But this scarf was special to Eydis. It was her father's after all. 

She nearly tore apart her desk as she looked in all its compartments before collapsing to the ground in a distressed heap, looking around to make sure there was no one in the classroom as tears began to roll down her cheeks. She wanted her scarf back, one of the few items she had that helped her feel as if her father was still around and close to her. As she scanned the room again, crying and mumbling softly, she noticed a red hue sticking out from the lost and found behind the teacher's desk. Rushing towards it, she snatched her scarf from inside and held it to her face, tears of happiness surging forward this time. 

Hearing someone clear their throat behind her, she turned around to see a male student walk into the classroom. Gulping, she stared at him in shock before quickly drying her tears with her scarf, replacing it around her neck, and scurrying out of the room. "Don't speak of this to anyone unless you wish to wake up with scorpions in your bed," she hissed as she peeled out.

Having finished her run around the academy, Eydis stopped by the girl's locker room to freshen up before continuing on her day. She wasn't allowed to head back her dorm during the day to shower, so this had to do for now. She wasn't exactly fond of the idea of communal showers, but it's better this than walking around school smelling like a sweating dog. After getting undressed, she ran the water and tested the temperature before hanging her clothes up on the curtain pole and drawing it close. The water steamed around her, running down her body and washing away the impurities. She gently lathered her fair skin before shampooing her hair, smiling at the silence and relaxing feel of the water on her skin. 

Her eyes shot open at the sound of chattering girls, and she sighed softly. Must've been other female students getting the same idea about showering at school. She shook her head lightly and continued washing her hair. A cold breeze suddenly surrounded her, causing her to slowly turn her head to see the cause. Meeting eye to eye with another student, she blinked several times, no reaction. 

"Can I help you?" She asked with a tinge of annoyance in her voice. "Well, don't just stand there and stare at me. If you're not going to join, then go to a different shower." She huffed and quickly shut the curtain again, going back to the task of washing her hair. "Kids these days..."
