I keep seeing comments about how idols don’t have the right to complain or feel sad because they’re “celebrities” who are “rich”. Honestly, that makes me really mad. Idols are humans too. They have their own thoughts, emotions, and feelings. They’re not perfect, just like us, and that’s okay. I understand that some people may not like some idols for certain reasons. However, that does NOT give you the right to be leaving hateful/hurtful comments on their social media accounts or music videos.
The idea that mental illnesses are not real needs to stop. Mental health issue is very much a real and serious issue. Idols have their own problems and struggles that we fans will never know about unless we become idols ourselves. You can’t just go around telling them how to feel or what to do because you have this particular view of them. They’re always under constant pressure to be “perfect” and that’s already hard enough on them. They do NOT need any hateful/hurtful comments to read. For all you know, those words could be the last straw.
Ever since the devastating news about Jonghyun was announced, I keep seeing those terrible comments about him and other idols. That’s why I decided to make this post talking about just a few idols who talk about these issues. Isn’t one death enough for you all?? How many deaths does there need to be until you realize that this is a serious issue that needs to be handled delicately? Why do you have to continue to criticize idols and tell them to go die just because they’re not doing/didn’t do something exactly the way you want them to? Why do you make their mental health issues invalid simply just because they’re celebrities? Remember that these idols are human beings too. Think before you post, comment, or say anything. Once you say it, it cannot be taken back. Don’t say something that you’ll regret later on. This goes for any mental health issues regarding a human being, idol or not.

The literal best Jonghyun moments I can think of off the top of my head
Since we should be appreciating him now more than ever, I made a list of ten of my many many favorite Jonghyun moments/things he did in life ❤️❤️
1. When he was one of the first kpop idols to openly support and defend lgbt rights
2. When he encouraged his fans not to diet, telling them that “chubby bodies are also cute”
3. When he made a comment that a fan thought was sexist (it wasn’t) he privately messaged her and explained what he meant by it, and asked her what about it offended her and how he could learn from it
4. In an interview- Q: “did you really cry?” Jonghyun: “Yes, I don’t know why. Maybe I was hungry.”
5. When he talked about how loved his mom and sister so so much!! His dad wasn’t in the picture but he always talked about how much he loved and respected his mom and sister. If you pray, please pray for them right now because they must be going through hell.
6. When people got mad about his Internet War performance with Taemin because it was too gay, so he made his Twitter profile picture a photo of Taemin feeling him up during the performance as a polite and hilarious “fuck you” to the haters.
7. When during said performance, he took his shirt off to reveal he wrote the names of all his fan clubs on his body as a show of appreciation 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
8. Honestly Internet War was just an iconic performance
9. When he was his band mates biggest fanboy, always showing up to their solo events with more enthusiasm and love than one person should be able to have.
10. Every fucking time he would cry on stage or in interviews or on shows, and when people judged him he would just say “men are people too, why can’t they cry?”

Are we going to talk about the fact that Nine9 got Jonghyun’s suicide letter almost 10 days in advance? Are we going to talk about the fact that not even her company knew what to do, so they just told his parents, who just acknowledged his suffering but left him alone long enough to get an apartment specifically to kill himself in? Are we finally going to open a narrative, especially in Korea, of taking mental health red flags and cries for help fucking seriously? He gave them 10 FUCKING DAYS, 10 days and multiple instagram posts to save him. I sincerely believe he, up until the day he decided nobody cared enough to do so, wanted someone to save him. And when nobody did, he rented an apartment out of the way so nobody knew where he was when he sent those last texts - he was resolute that he was alone and needed to die.
If someone gives you that red flag, take it fucking seriously. Don’t let them out of your sight. Do whatever is in your power to keep them safe. You’ll be glad you did.
Rest in peace, Jonghyun.

Taeyeon wrote “I’ll make sure you´re not lonely”.
Please, even you dont like her or SNSD , write a kind message to cheer her up in her Instagram. She has depression and Jonghyun was one of her best friend. It only take you a minute, dont let another person gone.
