"I have a very strong upper body,,,,,, im gonna call myself Torso"
And Alexandria, who almost embodies the "ice wizard with red robes" mentality, but for some reason leaves a hint. "I'm gonna call myself after the library of Alexandria because I'm the smartest, but I don't want people to know I'm smart so I'll put the great lighthouse on my costume instead.
There's also something to be said about the quality of E88 names but I don't know what
I also fell in love with Good Neighbor. What made a guy take that name? And then go fight Leviathan in some other city? Headcanon that he's like Othala for mover powers, that he just stands around in the street giving people rides to work or whatever.
worm cape names really do rock though because the book captures the sheer randomness and at times ridiculousness that cape names would realistically have in a world where there are thousands of capes and everyone has to have their own name. the early capes took all the really good and straightforward superman-esque names like "hero" or "legend," so the later generations have to pick out shit that's actually relevant to their powers for a shot at being unique. one of the most relevant villains in the united states of america is called "skitter," which isn't bad, but also, like, she didn't even pick it, the cops did because she was indecisive. also, while the cops were picking it, they unsuccessfully checked to see if like 5 other different bug-related names were free first. sorry, that username cape name is already taken. and then you have capes with really cool names that would, in any other cape media, be an indicator that they're a super important character. but in worm they're just getting murked left and right, or are at the very least extremely irrelevant. perdition is without question the funniest example of this--sounds like he should be a work's ultimate villain in the same vein as darkseid, actually is a loser teenager who gets sold to one direction. "eleventh hour" is a background cape that gets mentioned one (1) time and has an extremely lame power, but "gray boy" is a Big Fucking Deal. sometimes capes have names that are, unfortunately for them, extremely mockable, and characters in the story do in fact capitalize realistically on this. condolences to renowned superhero Glory Hole! as for the media/pr angle, calling a villain "bitch" isn't very pg-13, so you've got a cape running around calling herself something entirely different than the censored name the cops & media gave her. it's good. It's a good book.

maybe someone can talk about that

Never Back Down (2008) is so gay. The movie juxtaposes lesbians making out and MMA fights, and it pretends it's because straight guys love watching both, but you could so very easily interpret it as lesbians: make out, gay guys: MMA fights.
Also the MMA fights are guys v guys, girls v girls, and ex-couples.
If you came to this movie thinking MMA fighters should make out, you'd think the movie agrees with you (it doesn't, the movie is about how being straight is cool).
Never Back Down 3 (2016) thinks sex is bad.
Also Never Back Down 4 (2021) has this weird Hays code vibe, where the girls love each other in the way men in War movies love each other, but the villain is extremely gay for them.

It was my first time wearing a costume, my first participation in a cosplay event, and, of course, I wanted to make an impression. I wanted people to come up to take pictures and ask about cosplay.
And I was upset when this didn't happen. I watched as visitors approached other participants and asked to take photos with them, but they passed me by, and I felt like I didn’t fit in. Again.
I tried to be friendly, I even put one of the Argentine cockroaches on my hand to show it and give it to those who wanted to hold it (Argentine cockroaches are very cute, they generally look more like woodlice than cockroaches, they are quite calm and they have a beautiful segmented shell). But it didn't work.
After the event, I told how upset I was to my friend, who came to support me and help me with my performance. I said that I don’t know what exactly the matter was. I had several versions: my costume is bad and ridiculous; no one knows where the character is from and therefore they are not interested; this is an anime event and therefore I don’t fit in; I'm doing something wrong; all of the above at once in any combination.
She looked at me strangely and said that she would soon send me something that would immediately make the situation clearer to me.
Today, she sent me a video that she edited from the videos that she filmed at the event. I thought she only filmed my performance and took photos the rest of the time. But it turns out she filmed the reactions of people around. Hah, I was wondering why she was always behind!
I watched the video and realized that the reason seemed to be something else altogether. I actually didn’t take into account that insects can make people so nervous (even something as harmless as cockroaches).
Well, at least everything really became clearer. Thank you for this video and your sense of humor, I really appreciate it🩶

I think if Regent could control people without all the prep-time, he would become a Nilbog. Just a quarantined town. Pre-Imp Alec would definitely be a Nilbog, post-Imp Alec I think would just be a menace that's harder to catch, and I think if Imp died instead and then he gained Khepri powers he would still be a Nilbog.
Imp, if she became a threat rather than a menace, would be murdered/birdcaged by Dragon in no time.
I dislike the Parian's power being about skin thing, but I can see her doing body horror things to living opponents when pushed hard enough. If she was put in a Khepri-situation it could've been a lot different, instead of puppeting all the capes, puppeting skinsuits of them to do her bidding.
listen. i love khepri!taylor so much. but have we considered aus of what the *other* undersiders would be like if they went class s

hello, american. last chewsday you took the piss out of me for using “innit” in conversation. Before you is a Scrabble rack holding the letters B, L, L, C, S, and K. Your right pocket contains two A tiles; in your left, you will find two Os. To escape from this room, you must choose which vowel you will use to complete the eight-letter word on the rack, but beware: whatever you spell will be TAKEN from you. best of luck mate

I think I finally understand what bothered me about the violence in Bottoms (2023) [spoilers obviously]
The movie starts with the tiniest scraping of Jeff's shin, which is a tiny bit of violence with huge consequences. When at the school we hear a girl was beaten up by the rival football team, I assumed it was a huge exaggeration to pump the fans up. Then PJ gets punched and breaks her nose and there's also real consequences, both the broken nose and her increased confidence. Less consequences then when they "hurt" Jeff but consequences nonetheless.
Then they blow up a car, and they find out the other team literally murders people, and suddenly it's Fantasy High where violence is just a fact of life.
I get it that like in Fight Club they're upping the violence as time goes on, but in Fight Club when the violence gets worse, it gets worse, they don't just start ignoring it.
Other than that 5/5 movie

I've been working on this project for a while and I think it's time to show them off. These are propaganda/health and safety reminder posters for the Office for the Preservation of Normalcy, an organization that deals with the supernatural in a canon I'm working on. I have some lore I'm working on, but these posters will be the main thing that exists for now. The "sample" watermark is because I would like to sell higher-quality printouts and files in the future.
At this stage I'm looking for feedback. How do they look visually? Could a tagline be punchier? Please please let me know what you think.

Regarding Verona being aromantic
at the start of the story she was basically allergic to anything to do with her father - complaining, chores, his extreme divorcedness. Even if she wasn't aromantic, I don't see her allowing herself to fall in love, telling everyone and herself she doesn't want a relationship.
Only after she got the house on half street and started doing things for herself, when she started doing chores and stuff without being defined by her father, was I convinced she's actually aromantic. She was opposite him, regardless of him

I only ever listened to Romeo & Juliet (specifically the "rose by any other name" scene which was read in Saints Row IV), so I assumed Montague was pronounced mon-tahg.
