So I went to the Josh Fight

a summary:

- Two Josh Swains were in attendance. OG Josh, hailing from Arizona

- And Nebraska's own Josh Swain, from Omaha.

(feat. An Audio Engineer doing THE MOST for that sound quality)

-All the local news stations were there

- The majority of attendees were from out of state

- The two Josh Swains battled for supremacy by Rock Paper Scissors duel.

- The victor? Josh Swain, from Arizona. A crushing defeat for Josh Swain, who despite having none of Josh Swain's newfound Twitter Clout, DID have the home team advantage, as well as a Great Look.

- Following the Josh Swain Duel and coronation of the One True Josh Swain, there was an All-Josh pool noodle battle royale

- A brief list of notable Josh Variants I saw in this battle:

The rules were simple. Enter the ring and fight honorably (no headshots, no hits below the belt.) If you are hit with a pool noodle, you are dead, having fallen in glorious battle. The last Josh standing would be the winner.

The battle lasted a little over sixty seconds in total. The final victor was....

LITTLE JOSH, THE SMALLEST COMBATANT.

The crowd was going wild. The chanting for Little Josh was deafening. Truly there could have been no better outcome.

pool noodle combat was then opened to the general public, for fun rather than glory.

As for Josh Prime, he seemed like a very cool dude! As of last reporting, he raised $6600 dollars for the Children's Hospital and a truckload of nonperishables for the local food bank alongside the other Josh Fight attendees! He offered masks to any maskless people he met, and did his best to keep things as safe and socially distanced as he could, despite the ungodly amount of people who showed up to this random fucking field outside of Lincoln, Nebraska.

(Also for the Nebraskans: Yes he tried a Runza, and yes he says he enjoyed it.)

So anyway. Shoutout to the one and only Josh Swain.

Claudeleth Fic Recs

I love fic recs. I love Fire Emblem. And since I can’t really focus on anything else right now, I decided to just promote my favorite Claudeleth fics out right now. If you’re looking for something to read, then check these out because they’re all amazing. In no particular order, here are my top five fics. (Many of these authors have other stories I love, but I decided on one per author for this list.)

Fate and Other Lessons by DistractedSiren, Byleth/Claude, wip - 33k

When she’d been a young Blue Lion at Garreg Mach, Byleth had been certain that Claude von Riegan, leader of the Golden Deer, had done everything in his power to make her life difficult.

Now, four years later, Byleth finds herself teaching at the Officers Academy alongside her old rival, and he’s just as annoying and distracting as he was when they were eighteen. He’s also at least twice as handsome. The pair are quickly back at each other’s throats, only Byleth has no idea that now all of their interactions are fraught with sexual tension. Claude, on the other hand, is hardly aware of anything else. And their students? Their students are on the verge of locking them in the Goddess Tower together and leaving them there until they figure it out.

I love this AU so much. I find AUs fascinating, but it is sometimes hard to find one that keeps the characters’ personalities in tact. Not only does this one do so, it is one of my favorites because of how on point the characterization is written. The plot is intriguing, and I am immediately drawn in as soon as I start reading. This is one of those fics that as soon as it updates, I’m immediately pouncing on it to see what happens next.

If you’re looking for a well written fic with amazing characterization and some tasty slow burn romance, this is exactly what you want.

Point and Shoot by doylesmom, Byleth/Claude, 7.4k Once the war was over. Maybe they could all move on with their lives, then. Bernadetta could retire and never have another trauma induced episode again. Hilda and Marianne could finally get married. Ignatz could finish art school. Sylvain could come out of hiding. And maybe, maybe, if they were both still alive, she could confess to Claude, her best friend, who she loved more than she had ever loved anyone or anything in her life.

But that day had not come yet, and that time was not now, and as she took his hand as he helped her out of her seat, she could only pray, pray, pray that that day might come soon.

I got distracted writing the review for this one because I needed to read the fic again as soon as I opened the page. Apparently this is the author’s first smut, and that is just insane to me, because this fic literally has my favorite claudeleth smut scene. This AU is intriguing, and that is coming from someone who normally gives Mafia/Crime AUs a wide berth. I want to know more about this world, and the fact that we’ll be getting a sequel in a few days has me super excited. Byleth and Claude are still wonderfully in character, even with the dramatic setting shift, and I love it so much.

This story showcases some amazing writing talent. If you’re in the mood for some interesting world building, and some amazing smut, I strongly recommend you read this fic.

For Whom the Stars Shatter by Cirrocumulus, Byleth/Claude, wip - 50k

“I would have made you Queen of Almyra, eventually”, he whispered against her collarbone, sensing her discomfort. Part of her could have indulged in that fantasy, even then, but whenever she raised her eyes to wrinkled folds born from laughing she would count his crow feet like the years that passed.

20 years ago, Fódlan had been granted peace by the King of Almyra in a battle written down in history. Now, the anniversary crept ever closer, and with it old feelings and new ambitions. But time divides people, and he had been giving his away while she seemingly hoarded hers. Yet the rings on their fingers were ever present, stuck in pipe dreams of the past.

Oh man, I could literally go on all day about how much I love Cirro’s writing style. It has this beautiful, poetic feel to it that hits along the lines of a Shakespearean tragedy. There is so much pain and yearning in this fic, but it is such a good hurt. This is exactly how I would imagine Byleth behaving if she was made Archbishop, and just the tension and love that still exist between her and Claude is so good. It usually takes me all day to read a new chapter, because I’m just mesmerized by the writing that I’m going back to reread lines I just read. It overflows with symbolism, which I am just a huge sucker for.

Are you looking for something with angst and longing? Something that is just the epitome of beautiful writing? Then you’ll want to check out this fic.

last kiss by wanderlustt, 3.8k

Five men who’ve stolen kisses from Byleth, and the one man who steals her last.

Oh my god! This fic is full of desperation, and the writing is done in such a style that it conveys Byleth’s feelings perfectly. I have read this fic at least five times by this point, it is just so good. My heart ached the entire time I was reading this, and that feeling did not dull upon rereads.

I can’t say much more without giving away plot points, but everyone should read this fic. Just stop what you’re doing right now and go read it.

to fall in love again by mochee, 12k

“Who are you? Are you a spy for Edelgard?” “It’s me, Byleth,” she says, almost desperately. Claude’s next words cut through her like a knife, so earnest and true that she doesn’t doubt them for a second. “I don’t know a Byleth.” – Or: Byleth comes back from her slumber to find out Claude has not only been ill with Hanahaki, but that he was forced to undergo surgery. There are consequences.

It’s a hanahaki fic, so you know you’re in for some pain. This is another AU I don’t typically seek out, but man am I glad I gave this one a chance. This fic has a unique take from what I’ve seen from other hanahaki AUs. The end of the first chapter had me literally gasping out loud in shock. I made the mistake of reading this right before I was supposed to go into work, and I could not put it down. I was trying to take sneak peaks of it whenever I got a chance, I just needed to know what happened next.

Yes, more angst and pain, but the payoff for this one is so beautiful. Give yourself enough time to finish this before doing anything else, because it will engross you and you won’t put it down.

So listen guys, I don’t know if you’ve heard the rumor about Dreamworks not allowing Klance, but I just wanted to talk about it. So according to a theory or post by someone, the producers wanted to do endgame Klance and more Shadam but Dreamworks cut them off. They were forced to change it.

But guys think about it. It all makes sense. They’ve been working on Season 7 since Season 2 came out, and they said they’re still working on Season 8. You want to know why? Because they’re fighting right now with Dreamworks to give us the story we deserve. They already confirmed that they were fighting up until the very end to even make Shadam a couple, which is why there’s even existing audio where they aren’t. It’s why so much stuff doesn’t add up. Why Allura suddenly likes Lance out of nowhere, Why Lance’s family arc was given to Hunk. Why Axca and Keith made no sense at all. Guys. Those scenes were supposed to be for Keith and Lance. Keith was supposed to be the one who was there for Lance and fell for him. Just think about it. If you put Keith and Lance together in all those situations, the story suddenly makes so much more sense. Ezor and Zethrid teasing Lance and Keith about always protecting each other. Keith telling Lance to be safe. Keith comforting Lance at him being upset over his family. Jeremy even told us that Keith would end up comforting Lance. Guys he said that because the VA’s don’t always get to see the final product until it comes out. It was supposed to be that Keith does comfort Lance, but they changed it to Hunk. That’s why Hunk’s whole thing felt so forced and out of place. Why all of it did. Why Keith’s character felt so out of place. Klance was supposed to be endgame, and Dreamworks made them change it. That’s why they’ve been working on it all this time. Because they were fighting to give us that. And yeah there still might be some things that were bad about S7 after all that, but who knows how much else they had to change and even if they didn’t, that storyline would still make so much more sense than the one we got. Guys they’re trying to say all this stuff because they’re frustrated too. They’re frustrated that they’ve been limited from telling the story they wanted to tell. They know we’re upset and they’re upset too. They had all this promo and such for it because they wanted it to happen just as much as we did. They were fighting for it. They probably even went a little bit over what they were allowed to. It’s not them we should really be mad at. It’s Dreamworks for taking something this important away from us.

So you guys have a choice to make. You can continue being angry at the producers or even drop the show, or you can stand up and fight. Even if it doesn’t change everything. It will still change some things. It will still help future productions. It will still be a voice to everyone out there. They are not finished with Season 8 yet because they are still fighting for us. We need to stand united and make our voices heard to Dreamworks. They need to know we aren’t okay with what they’re doing. The producers aren’t perfect. They make mistakes and sometimes the choices they make in their shows aren’t necessarily the best. But you guys know that they love this show and they have always wanted to give us representation. They have always wanted to make this show something unique and amazing for us. We saw the thousands of production art papers and we have seen just how hard they’ve worked in the past to give us what we need. Were they perfect? No. But did they try their damn hardest to give every part of their audience an amazing show? Yes. They always had the best intentions in mind. Season 7 felt so out of place because it wasn’t the season they wanted to give us. It was the one they were told to give us. They tried to add as much as they could in there and tell us not to give up hope, but they can only do so much. They are under contract. But we aren’t. So make your voices heard. Protest what Dreamworks is doing. DO NOT MAKE DEATH THREATS OR VIOLENCE THREATS. Instead, make sure they know we aren’t okay with this season. That we want the producers to create the show they had in mind. We don’t want them to be limited by what a company thinks is or isn’t okay for a tv show. We asked for this rep and now it’s time we fight for it.

Look, maybe I’m wrong and this whole thing was what they wanted. But I choose not to believe that until proven otherwise. It makes so much more sense when you think of what went on in the sidelines. Why some of the article writers who got inside scoops kept telling us that they tried to give us as much as possible. Why everything seemed so vague. I know we’re all angry and hurt and upset. But this show needs our help guys. More than ever before. Maybe we won’t change the eventual outcome of the show, but we will make our voices heard and maybe save the fate of future shows. But who knows. We won’t know until we try. I really hope this reaches all of you. Dreamworks needs to hear our voice, so that someday someone else’s won’t be silenced.
