Isn’t it funny how we never put off procrastination?
Do you experience anything like this? You have a long list of things to-do. But somehow you never get started, or you do a bit of one or maybe two tasks, and then find yourself on social media, or doodling or just generally faffing around. You get to the end of the day and your To-Do list is even longer. The tasks are even more urgent.
You finish the day feeling unsatisfied and frustrated, yet tired. You go to bed vowing to do better tomorrow. Only to find the pattern repeats.
Here are some tips to avoid procrastination you get on with the most important tasks to hand.
1. Make sure you have only 3 tasks per day.
Take a good look at your To-Do list and reduce it to the 3 tasks only. Make sure the 3 tasks you pick are the ones that will create the biggest impact in your life, that will progress you towards your major goals and outcomes
2. Check for “should” tasks.
Look through your list to see if there are any “should” tasks. You’re probably procrastinating because, on some level, those tasks are not in alignment with your life’s purpose, in which case, don’t do them. Either get someone else to do it or, if you can, just don’t do them. Decide that these are just not in alignment with your purpose.
3. Find the resistance.
Look at your list and notice if any seem to be continually pushed back to the following day or week’s to-do list. These are the tasks you are resisting doing. So the question to ask is “what’s the resistance?” is it that you don’t know how to do it? Is it that you don’t want to do it?
Where there is resistance, there is also energy, which will be released once you release the resistance. Sometimes you can power through with the force of your will. And sometimes you’ll need to find the source of the resistance and release that.
4. Is there inner conflict?
Inner conflict can have you dither between doing one thing or another, or doing something and not doing it. This can be because you have two conflicting parts of yourself who seem to want different things. If you experience this then it’s useful to reconcile those inner parts with a process.
5. Chunk big tasks down into smaller ones.
Check that your tasks are chunked at the right level. Sometimes we put a task on our to-do list which is really a whole project in itself and needs to be chunked down into a list of smaller tasks. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day. For example, “build website” is a whole project. So chunk it down into smaller tasks like, choose domain, find web hosting,
6. Check you can actually DO the task.
One of the reasons we procrastinate is that we don’t know how to do it, we don’t have the skills, or don’t think we’re very good at it. Notice if this is the case and stop giving yourself a hard time. You’re not born knowing everything. You’re not born knowing much of anything actually. You have to learn it. So make learning the skill you need a task. E.g. “learn how to x”.
7. Have a good motivation strategy.
Everything we do, we do using an internal and unconscious strategy. Sadly we aren’t born with effective strategies, and sometimes the strategies we do learn simply don’t work very well. Fortunately it is possible to install and learn new strategies into the unconscious mind so that they run automatically. Once you have these installed you find your drive and motivation skyrocket and you just get what you need to get done, done.
8. Maybe you need a rest.
Ok so let’s just put this out there. Sometimes you’re not actually procrastinating, what you’re doing is recharging your energy levels so you have the energy to complete your tasks. If you find yourself not getting on with it, just do a quick inner check, is the real reason because you need a break. if so, take a break, then come back refreshed and renewed.
9. Set yourself up for success.
Make sure at least one of your tasks is easy to do. But don’t do this first, do it second after a slightly more challenging one.
10. Celebrate your success.
When you complete a task, tick it off, or strike it through and give yourself a small reward. This triggers happy chemicals in your brain, and makes you want to do more. It sets you up to find it easier to tackle future tasks, as your brain will remember the good feeling and drive you to complete the task to experience it again and again.
If you would like support to move beyond procrastination and live the life you deserve then the very best way to do this is to find a life coach and work with them.

Nice To Meet You
Relationship: Lin x Reader
Warnings: Swearing
Word Count: 1344
Summary: Reader works at a web show where Lin is being interviewed, and is a big fan of Hamilton. The host cancels and the Reader has to fill in.
-
“Are you okay?” You turned your head in the direction of the voice and saw the camera guy looking at you wearily. In all honesty, you were freaking out. Today was the day that Lin-Manuel Miranda was doing an interview for the web show that you worked for. You wouldn’t normally be this worked up for an interview, especially considering you weren’t even asking the questions, but this was different. You had been a huge fan of Hamilton ever since it made its off-broadway debut, so this was like a dream come true for you.
You couldn’t say all of that to a camera guy you’d never met before, so you settled for, “I’m fine.” You awkwardly looked at each other before you nodded and left. You really needed to get your shit together before Lin got there.
“Don’t be worried, (Y/N). He’ll love you.” You turned around and smiled at your best friend Taylor.
“Shut up. I’m just the mic girl.” You smiled and looked back down at the table of audio equipment.
“Yeah but you get to be all up close and personal with celebrities,” Taylor teased as she leaned against the table.
“Yeah, for like, less than a minute. It’s not like I’m gonna woo him with my magic audio skills,” you said as you rolled your eyes.
“You never know. Maybe he finds it sexy.” You gave her an incredulous look. “What? It could be a thing.”
“Sure, Taylor. Sure.”
-
After fifteen minutes of nervously checking and rechecking the mics, the producer came storming into the room where you were filming.
“He just cancelled on us! What kind of douchebag would do that?” the producer, Sam, yelled to no one in particular.
Your heart sunk. Lin wasn’t coming on the show anymore? Even though you were beyond nervous, you were still super excited. You also didn’t think that the producer should’ve called him a douchebag. He probably had a really good reason to cancel, you thought to yourself.
“So, can we go home?” the lighting guy asked.
“No,” Sam said. You were confused. Why did you have to stay if Lin wasn’t coming?
“Lin is still showing up, we just need somebody to interview him.”
It made sense now. Lin didn’t cancel, but James did.
It wasn’t a surprise that James decided to not do the interview. He was an asshole who thought he was too good to be hosting a web show. No matter how famous a guest was, James always thought he deserved better. In all honesty, you were glad he was gone. Good riddance.
“Does anyone know if James left his questions here?” Sam asked.
“I saw him take them home last night,” said Kim, the makeup artist.
“Fuck,” he whispered under his breath. “Does anyone know anything about Hamilton?” Everybody just shook their heads and returned to their work. You were faced with a dilemma.
On one hand, you would’ve killed to interview Lin-Manuel Miranda. You had so many questions you’d wanted to ask for forever. But on the other hand, you’d always preferred to be behind the camera, not in front of it and online for millions of people to laugh at you for making a fool of yourself.
“Actually, (Y/N) knows a ton about Hamilton.” You whipped your head up to see Taylor grinning at you from across the room. You rolled your eyes and flipped her off, but she smiled even wider.
Sam’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
You nodded. “Yeah.”
“Perfect! ‘Fan gets to interview idol.’ I can work with this,” Sam said - more to himself than anyone else - and then made his way out of the filming area.
Right before he left, he called over his shoulder, “just don’t be weird!”
You chuckled awkwardly. “That’s the plan.”
-
What felt like an eternity later, you saw Lin walk into the studio with a friendly smile on his face. Your stomach dropped for a second as you watched him walk over to Sam.
Sam and Lin spoke for a few seconds before he led him to the makeup chair. Sam then strolled over to you, a fake smile plastered on his face.
“Please don’t fuck this up,” he whispered into your ear. You gulped and nodded. Sam drew back and smiled at you before he went back to Lin.
You busied yourself for the next five minutes by putting your mic on and trying to discreetly fix your hair.
“You guys ready?” Sam asked as Lin walked over to you.
“Yeah,” he said with a smile.
“Good! Let’s get filming!”
You and Lin sat down on the matching chairs, and you tried your best not to make eye contact with him.
“Hi, I’m Lin, it’s nice to meet you,” he said sweetly. He held out his hand and you shook it.
“I’m (Y/N), it’s nice to meet you too, I’m a big fan.” He smiled at you.
“That’s awesome!” His smile was infectious, and you found yourself having to refrain from grinning from ear to ear.
“Five, four, three, two…” As soon as the camera man pointed at you, you smiled as big as you could and began to speak.
“Hello and welcome to PopStation! I’m (Y/N), filling in for James. Today we have Lin-Manuel Miranda with us. Thanks for coming!” You started to breathe again after you finished the intro. If you got through that part, then the rest couldn’t be that bad. Hopefully.
“Thanks for having me!” he said cheerfully.
“I actually have something to confess,” you said, trying to emulate the way James easily spoke with people.
“Go ahead.”
“I love Hamilton.” Lin chuckled slightly as you continued. “The story is great, and the music is amazing.”
“Thank you! I’m glad you like it.”
The rest of the interview went pretty well. By your count, you had only blushed four times. And although you were fangirling for most of the interview, by the end, you appreciated Lin less as “The Cute Guy Who Wrote Your Favorite Musical”, and more as a super intelligent and interesting person. You were grateful for Taylor having thrown you under the bus, but you would never admit it to her.
-
You were leaning on the brick wall outside of the studio, waiting for your cab, when you were tapped on the shoulder. You looked up from your phone to see Lin smiling at you.
“Uh, hi?” You internally facepalmed at your awkwardness.
“Hi. (Y/N), right?”
“Yeah. What’s up?”
“I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed talking to you. You seem really cool.” You grinned at the compliment.
“Thanks. You’re pretty okay,” you joked.
“I’ll take it.” The two of you laughed slightly. “So, is this what you do? Interview famous people?”
“Nah, I’m the mic girl. Our real host cancelled so I filled in.” A semi-awkward silence settled around you two. “I’m actually in school for a math degree with a focus in statistics, but since it’s summer, I need a job, and putting mics on famous people is kind of a hobby of mine.” You don’t know why you felt the need to blurt out a bunch of information about yourself and make that horrible joke, but you did.
Lin laughed slightly. “Well, if I’m being honest, being miced by pretty girls is kind of a hobby of mine.” You chuckled, and in the back of your mind, you though, is Lin-Manuel Miranda flirting with me?
You and Lin spoke for a few more minutes and swapped numbers before your cab arrived.
“It was nice meeting you, Lin,” you said as you climbed into the cab.
“You too, (Y/N).”
A couple minutes into the ride, you saw your phone screen flash with a notification. You looked down to see a text from Lin.
From Lin: I hope you can mic me up again soon ;)
You snorted at the kind of sexual message.
To Lin: You got it
You then locked your phone and leaned back against the headrest, a faint smile gracing your lips.
Thank you James.

Not sure why we still need publishers when we have cheap web hosting and professional associations we could pay to accredit work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Digital art thief gets humiliated.
Back in high school, I used to make digital art as a hobby. I had a small amount of early success with it, with a few social media followers (Livejournal, if that gives an indication of time frame - about 15 years ago), and a handful of commissions from record labels for album covers, etc. I had a website that I had made myself, which was a huge struggle since I didn’t know HTML at the time, but it worked and I was proud of it.
At some point, I was browsing my website’s traffic stats, and noticed some traffic originating from a website in India. Turned out it was an art thief, some dipshit in India who had created his own art website, looking to be hired for commissions. He had not only used my digital illustrations on his website, claiming them as his own, but he actually didn’t bother to host them on his own website, instead he embedded them on his website, but their URL path was still linking to my hosting.
So I updated the images on my own website to have a different address, and then replaced the images he had stolen on my own web hosting with new images - plain white backgrounds with bold black text saying something along the lines of “(Fake Artist’s Name) is attempting to claim ownership of artwork that he has no affiliation or involvement with. Please do not support this art thief. He does not possess the legal right to sell this image, or any image displayed on this website.” Hit refresh on his website, and boom, half of his images claiming to be his art now show this message.
It must have stood there for at least a few days, because it took about a week, but he eventually emailed me and claimed he was going to report me for hacking his website. When I pointed out that he had been linking to images hosted on my website, he never replied back.

What Is VPS Hosting?

VPS hosting and shared hosting plans have a number of similarities, but they are actually very different. Unfortunately, many people think that the two are the same. The question some people may be asking is - what is VPS hosting? Read on to find out.
VPS stands for virtual private server. This type of service has some elements of both dedicated hosting and shared hosting. For instance, each user has access to a specified storage space, bandwidth, RAM and CPU cores, just like dedicated hosting plans. This translates to increased performance and reliability as well as more privacy and security. These are the traits that distinguish dedicated servers from shared hosting plans. That said, VPS hosting also has some elements of shared hosting plans in that several clients share the same server as well as the cost of maintaining it.
How it Works
The resources of a server are partitioned and each partition allocated to individual users. Usually, the hard drive of a server is partitioned several times to ensure that each user can store files securely in their assigned partition. The cost of the service is quite fair, in that it is a little bit higher than the cost of shared packages, but much lower than the cost of renting dedicated servers. The fact that users will be sharing other resources cannot be equated to reduced performance because the servers used in VPS hosting are powerful. They have multiple cores and several gigabytes of RAM as well as multiple fibers and communication links to ensure a redundant network.
Benefits of VPS Hosting
- VPS hosting is more affordable compared to dedicated server hosting - It is more reliable compared to shared hosting plans since the risk of servers crashing is minimized - It offers more privacy and security because users can install their own security apps in their partitions
If you are still asking - what is VPS hosting? - the simple answer is; a website hosting service that provides users with the cut-throat performance, security and privacy of dedicated servers at the cost of shared hosting plans.
Popular VPS Hosting Service Providers
Almost all hosting companies offer VPS packages. The following is a list of the most reputable companies that are known to offer reliable services:
- Godaddy - Blue Host - Hostgator - InMotion Hosting - iPage - Just Host - FatCow - Network Solutions
There are many other companies that consumers can choose. Some of the most important factors to consider when picking a hosting company include: speed, reliability, cost, money-back guarantee, RAM size, disk space and additional features among other things.

the year was 2008. the individuals you see pictured here birthed an era of digital content that would blueprint the essence of building an independent platform. additionally, each of these trailblazers developed successful online media that created a path for the many others who have come over the past 10 years.
during this period of time, we were a youthful, bright eyed, intelligent group of creatives who were more concerned with sharing personal narratives, talent & social commentary than we were focused on “numbers” or gimmicks to draw public attention.
these are the faces of a movement – one that would execute just HOW to create videos & blog posts that were entertaining but still informative. this group of LEGENDARY & PIONEERING individuals exhibited levels of social consciousness & real life storytelling that would inspire an entire generation of then teens & other twenty somethings who were otherwise feeling lost, alone & desperately searching for someone who shared their personal struggles.
WE paved the way for every single blogger, podcast host, web series writer, director + actor, “out rapper”, website owner, youtube creator/personality & other self identified public figure you see or watch online to this day.
there were no others.
when we came along, there were no other already established VISUAL “personalities” whose coat tails we could ride or COPY in order to secure ourselves an audience. every viewer, reader or “fan” who supported our platforms, did so based on the authenticity of our individual merits. no one was pretending to be the friend of well known online figures in order to secure themselves an opportunity.
make no mistake about it ladies & gentlemen… these faces framed the golden era of online content.
honor each one of them by combing the internet to see the videos, skits, clips, interviews and blog posts that planted the seed for what social media in our community has become today.
