Misc. Information
I will add to this as I think of more
- most alien life is microscopic and akin to prokaryotic life on earth, a small amount are multicellular large organism both animal and plant adjacent, an even smaller amount are sentient, an even smaller amount are spacefaring and aware of other species
-a good chunk of the space faring sentient species to exist have existed a good portion of time before the current space faring species and are long dead
- there is no equivalent of a Prime Directive, humanity has acted as humanity always has, colonizing with abandon and uprooting and destroying it’s fair share of native populations on alien planets

Misc. Species
This will be a broad overview of the various sentient misc. species in this universe.
Arclan
-beings of pure light, able to mold their own forms to their will via manipulation of the very quantum particles that comprise them
-an individual's source of light came from a gem-like object (varies from looking pearlescent and cabochon-like to faceted) embedded in their chest, head, back or stomach (not that those body parts could exist separately without the light source)
-existed and dominated their corner of the galaxy a millenia before humanity had even begun to evolve
-like humanity would once it had achieved faster than light travel, the Arclan colonized and mined resources from a great many planets with little regard for the existing inhabitants of said planets
- the only reason they didn’t colonize Earth and mine it for resources is because it was too far away for their then current technology to access
- their cultural influence can be seen scattered throughout most sentient races and subsets throughout the known galaxy, despite having been extinct for 2,000 years now at current day
Others
- Several unknown dead species likely existed in the last million or so years, leaving behind space wreckage and various bio markers on the planets they visited/settled/lived on
-little is known about these dead species or how many may have existed that are completely unknown

The Non Space Faring Species
This will be a broad overview of the various sentient but non space faring species in this universe.
Olkut
- worships the Metakloren as deities
- no vocalizations, they communicate via highly complex pheromones
- unaware of other space faring species besides the Metakloren
Makid
- nearly wiped out by human diseases
- only about a third of the original global population remains now
- aware of humanity and actively hostile towards it
- though they aren’t much of a threat seeing as they are far inferior technologically
Bosnu
- same deal as the Makid, except they aren’t actively hostile towards humans
- in fact, they are extremely friendly and welcoming, which is part of the reason they are so vulnerable
Catrn *EXTINCT
- driven to extinction by human colonizers when they were barely out of the equivalent of the stone ages in terms of development
- little history left on them seeing as they went extinct in totality somewhere around the mid 2400s when humanity’s rampant colonization was at its peak
Volsians
- similar to modern day humanity in terms of technology and societal structure
- not vulnerable to human disease
- aware of the space faring species but with little desire to engage with them
Zeyaela
-Once were, in fact, a space faring race, far before humanity ever even sent any object into space
- it’s unknown exactly what caused their population to so drastically shrink but sometime during the early 1800s (Earth time), their species experienced a catastrophe that nearly sent them to extinction; whatever it was scared them badly enough as a culture to return to their more primitive ways and stay on their own planet (it is thought that the Arclan* had something to do with the catastrophic turning point for this species)
- the stories of their ancestors being powerful magicians who lived in the stars are believed by fewer and fewer individuals of the existing population
- their current technological status and culture resembles that of medieval Europe of Old Earth
- a select few elders in positions of archival power are aware of the existence of other species in the universe, remnants of a long forgotten past
*The Arclan are a species that I have not yet introduced

The Space Faring Species
This will be a broad overview of the various sentient space faring species in this universe.
Humans
Old Earth Humans
- virtually exactly the same biologically as they have been for the last 600,000 ish years
- more information to be developed and added
Terra Nova + colony + settlement Humans
- varies vastly from colony to colony and settlement to settlement
- (Terra Nova is a human settlement, the first one, in fact. A colony is a less developed settlement with fewer individuals and a settlement is a fully developed and settled planet or other inhabitable celestial body)
- more specifics on notable settlements and colonies to be developed and added
Androids/Synthetic Life Forms/‘Synths’
- sentient individuals not of biological origin
- can be (and most are) based visually off of Old Earth humans but there are some exceptions scattered throughout the portion of the galaxy humanity has explored and colonized
- generally mentally and physically superior to most other sentient species
- vary widely in degree of sophistication
- some are fully equipped with emotional capacity while others struggle to understand and/or mimic emotions
- it varies based on when a synth was built, how they were built and by whom
- they are much fewer in numbers than other species and their status as a sentient species in their own right is still hotly debated by most of the intragalactic community
Lurois
- not human in true appearance but shapeshifters and able to take on a limited amount of other forms (this is a learned skill and takes practice, though all are born with the innate ability
- they often take on human(oid) form as they are the first contact humanity had with an alien species back in 2387
- they have a unified government and society which has good relations with most human diaspora populations including Old Earth and Old Age colonies 2, 7 and 8 (there are 11 old age colonies with varying population sizes and ranging from establishment in the early to mid 2100s)
- there is a rebellious sect of their society which antagonizes humankind across the board and seeks to infect as many as possible so that they will turn on each other to feed, hence the population of the Turned or Lurojarun
Lurojarun or ‘Turned’
- humans (Earth or colony) that have been infected with an alien pathogen which, in humans, renders them similar to vampires of old Earth folklore in physical characteristics and behavior (not all Earth fiction holds true for the Turned irl)
- the pathogen is not actually a pathogen but in fact transmissible genetic material from the Lurois, via skin puncturing bites
Naajorin
-bipedal felinoid race (obviously not related genetically to earth felines but resembling them in some apparent ways)
-extremely relaxed and amicable culture throughout the four nation states of their planet (there are noticeable cultural differences throughout these states however, much like Old Earth) but on the whole, they are a peaceful and enlightened race
- three sexes (gender isn’t really a thing in their society, you just dress and present how you want to)
- in their ancient history, they were violent and ungoverned, always fighting amongst themselves but around 500 years ago they had an Enlightenment
-relatively new to faster than light travel, having only invented it in the last 300 ish years and subsequently meeting the rest of the sentient space faring species out there
Metakloren
- non corporeal entities which interact with physical reality via computer like contraptions similar to quantum computers of human origin
- naturally they do not have corporeal form, they exist in 5 dimensions and as such dont perceive space time the way most corporeal species do
- in order to interact with the other space faring species, they have invented something akin to quantum computers to inhabit and control
- while extremely advanced in comparison to other spacefaring species, they are also constantly in a state of internal conflict within their own social environment
- not much is known about them except for their relation to machines
- the oldest of the space faring species, their races origin dating back approximately 1.5 million years ago in Earth measurement
- “where the divine meets the machine”

Intro post
OSFUP refers to my “original sci fi universe project”
Basic Premise
Set approximately 1000 years from current day (so circa 3020's), this is an open lore universe with no direct story or plotline but rather a myriad of opportunities to create individual and interconnected stories with different characters of different species and cultures!
Earth, as we know it, is now referred to as “Old Earth”, seeing as the first of many human extraterrestrial colonies was named New Earth or Terra Nova.
As mentioned above, there are probably hundreds of human colonies and settlements scattered throughout Sagittarius Arm all the way out to the Outer Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy by the time this takes place
The older colonies, referred to as Old Age colonies, where humans have been there for centuries, as early as 2120s, have some significant differences in their populations’ physical appearances as well as other things like age and obvious cultural differences.
The newer colonies, New Age colonies and settlements (formed during the 2500s or after) vastly outnumber the Old Age colonies.
Colonies, and subsequently settlements, have been built on everything from exoplanets to moons and large asteroids. There is even a singular colony built primarily for energy production around an active star (a Dyson Sphere).
