As a child jumping in the waves was so fun. Like what will it be this time? Salty wipeout as water burns your eyes nose and throat? or the unmatched faerie experience like a floating little mercritter in the waves, living among the fish and swishing your tail as the seaweed dances in symphony with the salted water, the belief you can sing so beautifully that a man would follow your voice to his death, yet there was no feeling of weird, like your skin wasn’t yours, the thought that you were a creature of the great oceans seemed like the only possible answer, how could it be anything else? Learning once you get out it had been hours when it felt like mere minutes.

Then you get out and you’re sticky. And hair was crunchy.
