so i'm halfway through the netflix three body problem and.... unpopular opinion but i really like it?? and this is coming from someone who read the original series in chinese + watched the tencent series version. i think that this adaptation does such a good job addressing key points in the series and even though they condense characters, all the important points are there and it's not too draggy. i understand that one main reason why a lot of people don't like it is because it's "white-washed", but i mean, the original series is literally a story about humanity???? if they're gonna write a whole show based on ALL 3 BOOKS, it can't just be set in china and have all the characters be chinese if it's about saving humanity right...

bleed to do it - Taylor Swift (2021)

Taylor Swift’s newest album, bleed to do it, is an experimental country, rock and pop album converging on the past and future. This can be seen from the album cover’s monochromatic colour scheme converging with the future, sort of like an alternate reality. Swift takes on the persoas of the ladies of folklore and evermore, building on their stories and telling their perspectives. Musically, the album is a masterpiece. Country, rock and pop build on one another’s sounds so well in bleed to do it, with seamless transitions from song to song. Experimenting with mid 70s - 90s sounds, modern, and futuristic styles, the album sounds ambitious, but the talented singer-songwriter is able to make it a cohesive one. Lyric-wise, it is a delight. Swift alludes to many literary works, including F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, and Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice, among others. The songs echo a common sentiment of “You’ll hate to hurt me, ‘cause you’ll bleed to do it.” (sweet devil, the album’s lead single) The album is a genius instalment in the Folklorian universe.
