I'll try, but it's not possible on this historic day, I have to say. we were seriously fearing for you, congratulations to your first podium. how did it end up actually feeling like up there?

yeah, feels good, I mean, so many emotions and impressions… it was an extremely intense race, really a ride on the razor's edge with the constant change of the conditions. and then, yeah, here [in silverstone] you are always with one foot in the grave, in the wall, and it's extremely intense, so I think I haven't really realized what happened yet, but yes, I'll let it settle in the next few days, of course it feels very good, but… yeah (laughter) I have nothing else to report at the moment.

with everything that was happening during the race, when did you believe, think to yourself, today could be it?

uhm… I think it was somewhere before the last stop for the slicks, when lewis got close after passing pierre or lance, and then he got closer but then I got away a bit again, and then I realized, "okay, not bad, it's going pretty well, I've got a good rhythm on the worn down intermediates," and then after that stop, that one lap we stayed out longer, that was really worth gold by the end because it gave us that, I dont know, five or ten second buffer that we needed, which lewis then also made up. uhm… but of course that stint you didnt know anything, we had a good buffer but we had to bring it to the end and manage it correctly, and of course I knew that he'd be giving it all he got in front of his home crowd, and yeah it was intense, it was a duel from afar, but it was an adrenaline kick and really intense for me in the car of course.

it's good that there's a good while of break now, first, until the next race, that gives you the opportunity to properly celebrate today. do you think that there will be enough drinks in the vicinity to suffice?

actually, I wanted to get back home quickly. I dont know, max, max, I was actually supposed to go back with max later, no idea if he's gonna wait a little hour or two… otherwise there'll be a change of plans, no idea, but yeah, it's good that there are two weeks now, then you can stretch it out a little, extend it, and ride the wave longer, so I think not bad timing. but I mean again a crazy race, a crazy story, again from basically last place like last week, and such an absurd and surreal race… and yeah, like I said, I think I need a few days to process and understand it all.
