My Best Investment

Being a fashion blogger, a New Yorker, and a full time employee there is but so much time to truly invest in your next project, or your vacation, or even your loved ones. But one thing I have been learning more and more is the importance of making time. Obviously making time for all the things already stated but we must never forget to time for ourselves but more importantly our dreams. And with that I have learned my biggest investment has to go to myself. 

As I am getting closer to mid 30's [oye] and I watch my peers around me achieve their long time dreams and I take a second to look at where I am headed. I don't do this to make a comparison as I know that is possibly the worst thing that you can do to your self esteem. But I do it to check myself and remind myself of how much work I still need to put in. I know I want to make more of an impact on fashion with the idea of what the "perfect size" is, yet still getting into acting and showing my face on any and every screen that would give me the chance, and all the while helping people grow and learn from their past in any way possible. 

So yes I have a bit of a list but I am completely ok with working towards getting to that level. I am ok with putting in the extra hours and spending the money needed towards my crafts. So while everyone is partying it up and getting settled, I am learning to pull back and delve more into my craft. I have always been a bit of a hermit and a homebody but I am making an early new year's resolution to step out more for things that are going to help me with my dreams.

I think one of the easiest things to do is to be able to support and be there for a friend. However what can be the hardest and most difficult thing to do is to be able to support and be there for yourself. For the past month or so, I have been looking at where my shortcomings have been. Looking at what I have not been doing to get where I need to be. I think the thing that sparked this moment the most was on the "Started from the Bottom, yet we still here" podcast from Fabi and Nati. I realized while I have met some amazing people and they have touched my life in some amazing ways. I want to be able to do that for other people and still do that for myself. So how the hell am I supposed to?

"Get comfortable being uncomfortable". A statement I was never fully ok with but I am slowly learning to grasp that ideal. What that means for me is giving up on the idea of a steady schedule, paycheck, and life balance. While it is the BIGGEST fear I could possibly have because I like to live comfortably, and I would be setting myself for the unknown. So I am using my time wisely to prepare for that day, and I have spoken to the universe and set a date for March 1st. On this day I will place more faith in god and the universe and see where the cards may fall. I will make a separate post of what that will mean when it comes...BUT I AM SCARED SHITLESS AND EXCITED AS HELL!

So with the revelations and all the ramblings I have gone on about, I say all of this to say, make the time for yourself and your dreams so you are able to, FUCK SHIT UP! No one can stop you from getting to your highest potential than you. [Let that sink in]

So I am making the time to do it for myself!

#BloggerBooStaycation Part 2

What other way would you start off a perfect sunday? Either waking up next to Jason Momoa shirtless bringing me breakfast in bed, or the more realistic Sunday, brunch with girlfriends. As Jason Momoa is not free, this girl is always up for a boozy brunch, however this time was something totally different. Marlena found a cute little spot called Alice's Tea Cup, located in Lenox Hill, which is a Alice and wonderland themed restaurant. With a vast variety of scones, sandwiches, over 100 different tea options and of course my favorite, specialty cocktails, it was a hit. The food was superb, the tea was to die for and the atmosphere was nostalgic and serene. I will say that the Scarlett Johansson viewing wasn't so bad either! We enjoyed just taking the moment to truly talk and get to know each other better. 

After eating our hearts out, we got the chance to finally have some fun and REALLY relax. As True New Yorkers, we are always on the go. We don't take much time to take care of ourself, and truly have a breather. Well I will tell you Sunday we were truly pampered thanks so Premier 57! 

We got the works! From their Sauna Valley, which is made up of 6 different saunas from chromo therapy to their ice igloo room, down to their Himalayan Salt room; which also led to their heated hydrotherapy pools. The best part of the about the heated pools, it was located next to an aqua bar, with some fun and refreshing drinks. Outside of the aqua bar, the nude water lounge was going to be my second home [in case you didn't know, I live to be naked], but this place was literally my safe haven!

I made sure to take the time and thoroughly enjoy this moment because god only knows when my next vacation would be! I started off at the hydrotherapy pool with a drink in hand, the 57 and lex to be exact. The girls and I chatted it up there, then went to the jacuzzi that practically melted all of my issues, sorrows and worries away. I don't know how to explain how amazing it felt

#BloggerBooStaycation Part 1

Its not often that I met a group of girls and automatically think about the next time I'd like to hang with them again. However this weekend had to be one of those very very rare moments. Lets rewind back to the beginning, when a girlfriend and fellow blogger friend of mine, Nanthale, invited me to do a blogger staycation which we would redo our own version of "Girls Trip". Which if you haven't seen already, you must! All my friends I have the cross between Tiffany Haddish's character Dina and Regina Halls' character Ryan. Like I said, see the movie to understand!

We were going to kick off the weekend with Museum Hack tickets at the Met for the #BABS tour [Bad Ass Bitches of the Met]. Now you know I want to meet all these bad ass ladies, because obviously they are taping to who all of us are. Full Beauty/Beauty within took care of us and we looked really cute and chill for our Saturday fits. You know I live for an off the shoulder situation and a classic dark denim jean all day long.

We all decided to meet an hour before the tour to get aquatinted with each other, and I got to meet the lovely ladies who fast became G6. Jonquel, Marcy, Marlena, and Brooke were all smart, are down to earth, and fashionable women. The tour would prove even more how funny we all were once together. We had two games we played while on the tour, first was to find the best piece of work possible with a vagina [compared to men there just wasn't enough to get pictures of] and the second was to take pictures of different piece and tell us what the person in the painting was thinking [I was having too much fun with this game].

From here our tour guide Sara invited us to have some free ice cream sandwiches at the Meatball Shop, which was so amazing! I had the snickerdoodle and vanilla ice cream combo which was so worth the walk in the heat! I had already been a big fan of the Meatball shop, but now it'll be on another level! 

Our last stop of the night was obviously to watch the "Girls Trip" movie, however we took it to another level and watched it at the iPic theater. Ladies and gentlemen, iPic theater was definitely more pricey but it was very worth it. You have your own server to help you go through their massive menu of dinner, snack, dessert, soft drinks and soft drinks. You are also provided with blankets, pillows and complimentary popcorn. Now tell me you wouldn't love that? 

We had a blast being silly, real, and honest, but this was only part one!

Catered for Curves EP4: IMH Swim

One of the hardest things to go shopping for outside of jeans has got to be swimwear! I don't know about you ladies but swimwear used to be so easy, but since my body has grown into the womanly shape now, not so much. I've always had the issue of having bikinis with the cutest and perfectly fit top and the bottom that makes me look like the michelin man. And what girl do you know looks cute in tire rolls? If you follow my instagram page, fabiolamichele, you would have seen my recent post of my now two favorite bathing suits from IMH Swim. I totally want to be that annoying person who floods your timeline of pictures in these two bathing suits, but I love and respect my followers too much. 

When I first stumbled across the brand, it was a friend of a friend who was rocking the electric blue one piece bathing suit with mesh side panels and front zip. I practically drooled over the color and fit of the bathing suit. It was perfect timing as I was leaving for my trip to Hawaii in a month and I was stressing over the fact that I had no new bathing suits that compliments my new workout body [ a girl is trying to be a MILF in life minus this kids]. I was skeptical of what to expect when reaching out to Iris, the owner and designer of IMH Swim. I told her about the styles I was interested and she then gave me a rundown of her prices and what I would then need to do once I knew what I wanted. I did not realize all of her bathing suits were custom made and set to fit your body...WIN! She asks that you get your measurements as to have the bathing suit fit like a glove, talk about details. I placed my order and less than 3 weeks I had my bathing suit in hand, and man oh man was I happy! I sent pictures of the bathing suit to my girlfriends and they were floored as well at how perfect everything fit and felt.

Of course I had to reach out to her shortly after my trip and tell her that her bathing suits are like god's seconds skin made for women. And naturally I had to share with you guys the miracle that is IMH Swim. I had to find out how IMH Swim even came to be. 

IMH SWIM came into existence in 2009 unintentionally. At the time Iris was headed on a girls trip to Miami and couldn't find anything that suited her without looking extremely young. At that time swimsuits looked nothing like her collection. So she took it upon herself to not only make swimsuits but everything in her suitcase. From that trip on, the rest was history. She started out very slow with absolutely no intention to sell anything, and there suddenly became a demand. And the suits she had made were too cute not to.

Since then IMH SWIM has literally traveled the world! She works during the day and by night its all about IMH SWIM. She makes custom suits for the Passport stamper, Travelnoire Elite and jet setters. Everything Iris makes is something that she too would wear. It's pretty much her ideal suitcase packed for vacation every time she looks at her pieces.

IMH Swim is all about colors and a good cut that hits all the right places. Iris prefers not to use prints, just solids, her idea of a good suit "-is that one that you rock poolside at a Le Bain pool party in Manhattan or on a vacation resort in Cancun. You should be able to go for drinks on Ocean Drive and then grab your cover up to handle business in the lobby of the Fountainbleau. There's no pressure with IMH SWIM, it just is. Fun, lots of sexy, vibrant, and unique."
