Deliverance
Deliverance – Portland – 2020
First attempt at sculpting something other than heads and anatomical pieces. I quite enjoyed it and I feel like this could become a lovely art decor piece for any home.

Anatomical dissection of Herbert West
Anatomical dissection of Herbert West
I’ve been lucky enough to be able to practise my dissection skills on a real human head. Here you can see the video before and after dissection.
Just kidding. The “dissected head” was just carved in stone, in Portland stone to be more precise. I went through the trouble of carving a complete head of a deceased man, only to then carve half of his head out. I could have simply carved the…

A vanitas is a symbolic work of art showing the transience of life and the certainty of death very common in the 15th century. Fabrizio Sitzia, 2019. See more of my art at www.fabriziositzia.com

The Three-eyed lady
The three-eyed lady- Richemont blanc- 2019
Is she pretty, isn’t she? But she hides a secret. A third eye on her back. Is she a monster or a fair lady? A Mrs Hyde in disguise, perhaps?
Not many people see the third eye at first, they have to follow the braid from the shoulder up to to the head and then they see it. I love to see their reactions. Something unexpected, something unusual and…

European Stone Festival 2019 in Trondheim
European Stone Festival 2019 in Trondheim
A couple of weekends ago I was in Trondheim, Norway, for the European Stone Festival 2019. First time for me to this annual event and first time at a stonecarving festival. 110 participants from all over Europe and beyond, we had to carve a 10×30 cm local soapstone with the theme “games” in just 2 days. Not an easy task! I registered for the “bench competition”, that is 6 winners would have their…

To the fellow stonemasons of the Notre Dame of Paris
To the fellow stonemasons of the Notre Dame of Paris
In these hours of desperation over the loss of the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris I feel like I would like to express my vicinity to whom built it 650 years ago.
I might not be a professional stone carver nor a famous one but I had the privilege to work on a reproduction of a corbel from the Exeter Cathedral that was built almost in the same period as the Notre Dame of Paris and that taught me…

2018 has been quite meager in terms of number of sculptures (only 3). Travelling for work took a lot of days off from the chisel. And yet I’m satisfied because I experimented new media and I challenged myself with you new a diverse subjects. Hoping 2019 will bring more challenges and experience! #sculptureportrait #stonesculpture #stonecarving #fabriziositzia #2018 https://www.instagram.com/p/BsQiwMNjesu/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1m42xxtw0ojxu

As some of you already know 2 years ago I finished the copy of the Our Lady’s tumbler, which is currently in the Exeter Cathedral. The sculpture was then given to Eddie Sinclair, a professional restorer, in order to paint it over with the original medieval colours. The painting is finished now and this is what it would have looked like 700 years ago in all its splendour! It has been a monumental endeavour for me and seeing it finished with all these vibrant colours is breathtaking. Hope you like it too! As some of you may remember it has been more than a year since I finished the biggest commission I had been requested to date: the Our Lady’s tumbler copy from the Exeter cathedral. It has been a monumental achievement for me – took me more than a year to finally say “this is it, it’s done!” – and I’m pleased with the result. Immediately after my chisel was put to rest, the brushes of Eddie Sinclair started to play their magic. In fact, the initial idea was to reproduce not only the tumbler itself but also its original colours. And here they are in all their splendour.
