the tv show "the torment nexus game is bad" being a poignant critique of wage slavery and class disparity and capitalism that is popularized in the west by big tv corporation bc it makes them money, then being turned into "the torment nexus game is bad: the game show" by the most souless and therefore most popular youtuber because it makes him money, so then big tv corporation makes their OWN "the torment nexus game is bad: the OFFICIAL game show" to make even more money off the "the torment nexus game is bad" fictional critique of capitalism tv show, and then it turns out that many allegations of torment nexus-like conditions come out of both reality tv game shows but there aren't any consequences. and then Bigger Corporation goes to the soulless youtuber and is like. lets make another "the torment nexus game is bad" -esque game show to make us a lot of money because the people stuck in the torment nexus love that shit. it's called "the torment nexus game is fun :-)" and then the writer of the "the torment nexus game is bad" posts on twitter that he fucking hates his own story and what it has become. you would think this is a plot from a heavy-handed early black mirror episode but it is unfortunately a plot from real life

the pistachio food trend is soooo interesting because it's like. i've been following the californian pistachio water politics for years, as a californian with personal connections to agricultural workers but! basically there's been a big push in california agriculture over the last decade to pressure farmers to produce pistachios, because iran has dominated the global market in pistachios for decades, and the US government has been trying to weaken iran economically, so they want to make california pistachios a competitor. which is ridiculous, because california's agricultural infrastructure is suffering under a drought, and pistachios take insane amounts of water. so a ton of water is being redirected from the people in order to engage in a trade war with iran over fucking. pistachios.

anyway now that the US (i.e. california) is producing more pistachios than iran, the next step is to drive consumption of pistachios, so that the farmers who are producing these pistachios can continue to make money on them. ergo all the fancy pistachio coffees at starbucks and similar shit like suddenly being able to find pistachio butter in grocery stores when five years ago it was exclusively available at specialty stores and online, and the huge boom in pistachios foods in instagram and tiktok recipe content. like i watch a lot of instagram foodie reels (cooking/baking is one of my hobbies) and these get thrown onto everyone's feeds, to promote the purchasing of pistachios, so that the US can stick it to iran. it's. kind of incredible to watch this happen in real time, because it sounds like deranged conspiracy thought, but like. i've been watching this trend for the past decade and it's fucking real.

anyway one of the vegan recipe accounts i follow just posted like five pistachio-based recipes in a row and it makes me feel some kind of fucking way

Honestly, i think that they're both sex repulsed aces, yeah. But they couldn't be further apart as to why.

For MB it's the whole human/biological thing, it disgusts it to the point of hatered, it doesn't get why they do it, it doesn't want to. It knows that most biological creatures do it, i think it's also part of the reason it refuses to identify as/with humans. It isn't human, it doesn't have those urges or feelings, it's a machine, humans want sex right? (I don't think it knows Gura is ace)

For Gurathin i really think that he didn't start out as sex repulsed, he was always on the ace spectrum yeah, but he didn't hate it. I think for him sex repulsion was a part of trauma response to how Corporation Rim treated him. They stripped him of agency, they made him an addict, who knows what else they did to keep him in line?

I haven't looked at actual stats for this, so this is just based on what I've seen on Tumblr, but I'm not surprised that so many autistic people also have OCD, especially moral OCD.

When you're constantly corrected on your own actions, intentions, and interpretations of the world, taught that any sentence you think is innocent can be horrifically offensive (and that you knew that even though you didn't), scolded for the way your disability affects you and accused of lying when you struggle, fuck, why wouldn't autistic people have "I'm terrified of doing something wrong and am desperate to comfort myself" disorder? I can't say a single sentence online without checking for how it could be misinterpreted or used as evidence that I have done something wrong, hurt someone, acted like the scum of the earth – I feel the need to put a disclaimer that OCD isn't just how I described it above, because I'm afraid that someone's going to be bothered by that simplistic description – because I know people aren't going to give me grace for clumsy words, even if they know I'm autistic, even if they know part of my autism is wording things clumsily.

And I'm not surprised autistic burnout is such a common problem, either. When autistic people check over their words like this, they're expending energy to accommodate intolerance and ignorance from others. Even for fully verbal autistic people, that's going to take a toll.

That's part of why I like tone tags and just stating the tone like (genuine), I think. People will ask "Why don't you just add a sentence telling people what your tone is?" and the answer is that those sentences also get misinterpreted! Those sentences also get scanned for tone and intent to hurt that isn't there! So that's another sentence that I have to check over and over and over again so people don't read it and think I'm the scum of the earth! Just let me have my fucking tone indicators!! At least I know if someone ignores those that they're being an ableist prick and not just acting "normally" towards me, sure to get all the sympathy if I get frustrated that I can't say even a single sentence naturally without people hating or "correcting" me for it! Because yeah, it's not nice to pick on autistic people, but I'm just an asshole on the internet who didn't cover all possible nuances and sounded a little too snarky, which means it's okay to be a bitch to me!

It's always on me to watch and change my words, on me to play 3D chess in conversations to anticipate outcomes I don't understand, on me to get over my distress so I can "properly" apologize for inevitably fucking up the simplest of fucking conversations no matter how rude the other party was being, and never on others to give me any grace or apologies for my literal fucking disability. It's really no wonder that I'm always worried that I'm going to say something wrong and unforgivable – according to ableism, I am. And the only way for me to move forward from that is to accept that I am only as much of an asshole as the people who put me in this position in the first place.

Still, I'm so fucking tired. I just want to make a shitpost or point out a pattern I've seen or correct some misinformation without people calling for my head if I choose not to work overtime to make it look like I don't actually have a disability they claim to accept. For the love of fuck can I please just be allowed to chill. Please.
