I’m starting to think of something and I’m not sure about it yet...

“Apologies for taking so long to get home, Pixie.” He smiles warmly, glad to see the shiny Vulpix greeting him as he returned. He knows she must be worried about him, seeing as most Pokemon can tell when a demon is nearby, and if they’ve touched someone nearby as well - though the latter is to a lesser extent.

“Let me put away the groceries and you can fuss over me, alright?” He offers as he walks up to the door, inevitably to a couple of the babies and Prince whining and vying for his attention. “I had a bit of a run in with the local hellish garbage.”

Pixie hummed as she did back off a bit to let him inside, only to see some of the babies and Prince immediately vying for his attention. Oh boy.

“Vull....”

Demons, that’s what she was smelling on him. Why would one come so close to Doc, that he would carry the stink of it? She hopped onto the counter easily to watch him put groceries away, all the while, Syphoria hears him coming in and peers in to greet him.

“Welcome back sweetie. How was the shopping trip?” Syph asked, leaning on her tip toes to give him a kiss on the cheek.

“Vull! Vulpix!”

Pixie greets Doc outside of the Daycare with him coming home, only to pause and feel something was amiss. It was a scent that was lingering on him, that made her fur stand up on end, a worried look coming from her chocolate eyes. Just what had happened while he was gone? “Vulll..?” She tilted her head and approached, all while Syphoria was inside, getting food ready.

Just where had Doc been?

If you allow Syphoria to spoil your Pokemon, she will do it in stride and bake them all the treats. And give all the scritches too.

Beedrill joins the group hug, buzzing sadly.

“Heh, yeah… Thanks for everything. You really are a good friend. I promise I’ll keep in touch, okay? This ain’t the last you’ll ever see of Big Bad Guzma, I can promise ya that!” He lets her go, and though he’s smiling, Guzma is undeniably tearing up. Goodbyes are sad, he’s learned, and this is only the first of many.

“… I gotta get going, but - thanks, Syph. I know I keep saying that, I keep thankin’ ya and all, but you were really a big help. I’ll - I’ll let you know how it goes with the Grunts, okay? And I’ll stop by at least one more time before we leave for good.”

Syph reached over to gently pat Beedrill’s head, being ever mindful of his antennaes. It was sad for a dear friend to go, one that had made her living experience in Alola all the more precious.

“In a way, we helped one another out. I’m glad I could be here for you and the grunts. They’re still always welcomed here too if they want to help around.”

She was reluctant to release him but did so, letting have some space. Her shiny Vulpix, Pixie, looked up and whined at Guzma, knowing that she’ll miss him and his Pokemon too. All the Pokemon at the daycare were sad to see their friend go.

“Alright, do let me know. When you come back for your last visit, I’ll make sure to whip up the biggest hotpot for everyone. Good luck.”

“Yeah, I know. Actually, we wanna move to Floaroma Town - it’s kinda always springtime there? So between the weather, the honey trees, the streams, the flowers… I think it would be really nice for both of us, and all of our Pokemon.”

He leans back, gazing up at the sky. Just thinking about moving to Sinnoh helps put his troubled thoughts to rest – it’s how he knows he’s making the right choice. He’ll miss his friends and found family, and not everything about Alola was bad, but at the end of the day, he has to go. It’s time to leave his homeland behind.

Still, as Syph wishes him good luck, a wave of melancholy washes over him. Guzma really will terribly miss the people who’ve positively touched his life, from the Grunts to Nanu to Syph and beyond.

It’s why he now pulls her into a hug. “Thank you for everything, Syph. You were always so nice to me, even when I didn’t deserve it. I was a bad guy when we met, and you still treated me like – like I was okay. I’ll never forget that.”

Floaroma Town? OH! She knew that place, with the beautiful meadows of flowers. Honestly, she couldn’t think of a more perfect place for the two and their Pokemon. Just imagining his Pokemon happy there definitely had a smile on her face.

Though what caught her off-guard was the hug she was pulled in to. It just showed how tiny she was compared to him. Her smile grew into a somber one before she hugged back, recalling the memories of him and the grunts pestering her when she first came to Alola.

“I’m happy it helped. Like my Grandmother always said, ‘Treat people the way you wish to be treated.’” Which was true, she never backed away from that.

“Good luck with your life, it’s a big world out there. Is it big enough to handle the Big Bad Guzma?”

“Heh… You know I’ll take care of Beedrill! He’s my little Bee Bud!” As if on cue, the friendly bee buzzes appreciatively, flying around Syph and Guzma - his two dearest human friends! 

“… Thanks, though. For your support. It… wasn’t an easy decision. Everything I know’s in Alola. But Plum and I did some traveling, we made friends all over, and I feel better when I ain’t near him, so it’s the right call for us. ‘Course, we’ll come and visit, but it’s better to live somewhere else.” 

A pause, then, as he considers the Grunts. In many ways, some are like his little brothers and sisters - and some are like his kids.

“It’s - probably for the best if it’s just me and Plum. I know they’re gonna be really upset, but Plumeria’s good at talkin’, and I’m sure they’d want some time alone with us. Thanks for the offer, though.”

Syph giggled with the Beedrill buzzing and flying around them. She knew he and the others would be well taken care of.

“I know it’s not an easy decision. Believe me, I know that too well myself. You and Plumeria are always welcome to visit though. And I’ll have plenty of cocoa and snacks to share too.”

She nodded her head though as being reassured that both of them would talk to the grunts. She was just worried how many of them would react. “I understand. As I said, I wish you two good luck on the move to Sinnoh. Just be mindful of the weather for your buggy pals. Some of them aren’t built to handler colder climates.” She smiled, patting his shoulder.

“....Good luck Guz. We’re rooting for you here.”

Guzma shakes his head, dispelling an onslaught of negative thoughts, trying to instead focus on his friend. “It was a hard decision, but it’s for the best. I just hope the Grunts don’t cry too much…”

He stares into the mug. “The thing is, I have to go. I’ve gotten a lot better, and I know I won’t be completely better ever, ‘cause healing’s a process - that’s what my Doctor says - but…” Guzma swallows thickly. “People keep giving me dirty looks, but that ain’t really the problem. It’s just - it feels like I see my father or one of his friends every time I go to Melemele. And this region’s already small without cuttin’ a whole island out. I feel trapped, and like it don’t matter where I go, cause there’s bad memories everywhere.”

How Syphoria knew all too well what he was feeling, having honestly felt something similar years ago. It was one of the main reasons that, despite missing her home region, she just wouldn’t go back there to live there.

“I understand. I know the Grunts will be upset, so many look up to you..” In some ways, she kinda looked up to him too. She wasn’t the greatest when it came to words, but her actions spoke volumes. She has more of an appreciation for bug Pokemon, thanks to him.

“I know it’ll be difficult to talk to them but, I know they’ll understand. They care for you, we all do. All I would ever ask you is take care of Beedrill and the other Pokemon. Then again, I don’t need to tell you that.”

She tried to smile, in a way to reassure him. “If you need help talking to them, I can come with you. I’m sure they will understand.”

“I can’t really say I’m in the state to adopt one, especially if I’m heading to Galar where they won’t let certain Pokemon in it seems…”

“That’s true...wait..”

“You’re going to Galar too?”

“Well the size of the dragons certainly doesn’t stop him from trying…”

“...Welll....I have a dragon Pokemon here at the daycare who’s up for adoption.”

“Ou, it’d probably help with his energy too, he’s usually bouncing off the walls…”

“He just needs a playmate his size. He can’t exactly wrestle or play with the big dragons you have.”

“Eh, well I guess we’ll see about that then…”

“Besides, I’m sure Haetae would love to play with the babies and Pixie again. It’s been ages.”

“I bet this pup is already plotting something…”

Drake is onto you Haetae. Don’t try anything, little pup.

“I don’t think he is. Some new chew toys will be great enrichment for him.”

“Oi!! You see that look!?”

“I do see that look, yes. But he’s only getting these toys if he’s a really good boy.” Syph isn’t dumb, she’s raised a Growlithe up to an Arcanine herself.

“Are you gonna be a good boy, Haetae? Don’t lie to me.”

“That’s an act, I don’t know what yer talking about. He’s a shoe chewing monster.”

“He’s not a monster! He just needs some more chew toys. Luckily, I’ve got plenty from buying some for the babies.”
