Top 5 Fundraising Tips
Top 5 Fundraising Tips
Fundraisers come in all shapes and sizes including golf outings, silent auctions, raffles, and product sales. Products sales are a good fundraising choice due to the ease of manageability, turnaround time, flexibility, organization and funding. The more complex the fundraising effort, the more time consuming it can be.
1. Purpose. Have a clear plan of your mission and/or your purpose for a fundraiser. Make sure that all the participants are able to express the purpose of the effort. Try to tie the product to the purpose or mission of the fundraiser.
2. Product. Decide what kind of fundraiser product you want to market. It is important to select a quality product that your organization is comfortable promoting. When considering your options, make sure you know what percentage of the sale your group/organization will receive from the fundraiser.
3. Connection. You want to select a fundraising company that will maximize your sales. Connect with the company you are considering and inquire about some basic information such as:
· What percentage of the fundraiser sales will your group/organization receive?
· How is the fundraiser product distributed?
· What is the turnaround time for the fundraiser proceeds?
· Will the company send you fundraiser samples?
Decide the timeframe within which the money needs to be raised and make sure the company you are considering can accommodate your schedule.
4. Plan Creation. Formulate a fundraising plan. Determine how much money you would like to raise from the fundraiser and set a deadline for raising it. Identify marketing ideas including word of mouth, announcements, newsletters, press releases and most importantly – social media. Social media would include Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, email, texting, blogs and any other means to spread the word.
5. Implementation. Appoint an organizer or point person to be in charge of the fundraiser and put the fundraising plan in motion. Know who will be selling the product and work with the contact of the fundraising company. Make sure deadlines are met in order for the funding to be collected and received in a timely manner. A quality company will be able to guide you through this process.
