Which is beyond what I can say for you.”She snapped, she would not become some pathetic weakling. She may have been one once, but she’d never be there again. She was past that, way past that now. And she’d finally found a world that could offer her happiness and she wasn’t about to lose it because this woman couldn’t keep her mouth shut. “I will never be like you, because you’re still weak. You think you can make up for everything that happened to those two while you were gone? There isn’t anything in this world that could make up for what you stole from them. You claim you found strength, but you were the coward who ran and left her sons to be with a man who was just as worthless as his wife.”She was fuming now, anger filling her to the brim, her mental fireworks exploding screaming at her to get away from the woman before she lashed back. Or perhaps, more so it was to get her away from Lily before she was the one that physically lashed out at the vampire. “Do you think I don’t know about his connection to Elena? Elena wants him to be happy, until she can come back, and everyone knows that I make him happy. So I suggest you shut your cowardly whore mouth before I’m the one who slaps you in it.”

That was the wrong thing to say on so many levels and Lily was about to prove it. She had never been able to take people telling her what she was and what she was not. “You selfish, filthy little---” she began to scream only to be cut off by the creak of the front door.

“Lily. Shut it, I will not have blood on the floor. And Lizzie, if you could not call my mother a whore, that’d be nice, considering that, as much as I love you, I can’t stop her from tearing your throat out,” Damon rolled his eyes, slamming the door shut behind him, right in the faces of both Stefan and Enzo. “Babe, she’s a Ripper, like Stefan, you can’t win against her. Mother, I understand you’re trying to feel something more, even if it’s protectiveness, but I am not like Father, not in that way,”

“I am sorry, both of you, I did not think about the consequences of my warning. And I suppose you are a better man that your father, and she is a better woman than I was. But I will not stand for her saying I am weak---you know full well I am not---and that I do not care,” Lily turned her gaze from Damon to Elizabeth and sighed. “I left because it was the only way to prevent me killing both of them. But it was I who brought Stefan back from his escapade without his humanity, it was I who saved Lorenzo from certain death and I did not mean to leave him on that ship, but the Gemini Coven caught me. I stayed in that Prison World and I know I do not love my sons anymore, but I wish I could, and I do try to care as a mother should.” she had said her piece, and had fallen silent, blue eyes focused on the ground, teeth gritted in frustration.

“Now can we not fight?” Damon honestly did not want to deal with both his mother and his girlfriend fighting, and could only hope that the two would stop mouthing off at each other now. “I’ve left Stefan and Enzo outside. Well, they clearly didn’t want to come into this trainwreck.” the last part was said in a louder tone of voice, as it was directed to the two vampires waiting outside.

She was prepared to make a smart ass remark. How could this woman claim to know her sons and not know which one of them she was with? “And I can assure you, ma’am, if you lay a hand on my boyfriend, I will shatter the hand that touches him. You weren’t a mother to them for the past 100+ years, don’t think you can start now. It just doesn’t work that way.”

There was a grin spreading onto her features then, she wondered if Lily knew exactly who she was. She was basically the equivalent of the Original Witch without the whole thirst for blood thing going on. And just as immortal. “Though, if you want to be technical you could say I’m in a four way polyamorous relationship with Damon, Stefan, and their annoying friend Enzo. Though, I highly doubt your stuck in the 1800s mentality can fully grasp the fact that this is the twenty first century, and that I’ve fucked three of your sons. The one you created, and the two you birthed.”

“Oh, so it’s you I can hear at night. Do any of you realize how loud you are?” Lily gave a shrug, that was one mystery solved. “Go ahead, by all means, I’m sure Stefan and Lorenzo are truly devoted but Damon...well, did you not hear about Elena? I somehow doubt he has the ability to care about you so soon after losing her,” she turned around, striding over to the kitchen, deliberating over whether to say her next piece. It would be insulting to Damon, to Elizabeth, and to herself, but it was true, and it would only be an honest warning.

“Damon’s quite like his father, you know, as much as he’ll deny it. And Giuseppe was not a nice man, who could only ruin, and I am being genuine when I say that if you are not careful, Damon will become just like him and turn you into me. You do not want to be like me, not when I was human, not when I was under that man’s thumb,” That was Weak Lillian, Pathetic Lillian, Miserable Lillian, and now she was Independent Lily. And it had taken her so many years, so many kills, and so many sired vampires to become that.

She frowned again, catching onto the earlier part of the conversation. “Sometimes, Damon needs to be shown he is not all-powerful and if a simple smack around the face will teach him to not call me obscene names, then I will do that. It will not hurt him much, it will only sting, and he has taken much worse at the hands of his father, so what would a simple slap from his mother permanently damage?”

“You must be new here.”Elizabeth offered a smile, her head tilting ever so slightly to the side to express her annoyance, and the fact that the smile was far from a pleasantry. “Damon actually told me to come over. And watch his bitch mother. Oops. Did I let that slip?”The blonde gave a sly smile to the woman in front of her. “See, I can promise you, I know Damon and Stefan far better than you do.” She’s mentally laughing her ass off at the whole thing. If the woman didn’t know there were a lot of things that factored into her presence. Including the fact that she’d offered to give Damon a distraction, and not to mention she may have also offered blood from the vein. “ Regardless, Damon will be home soon. And I am coming in.”

Lily almost laughed, but merely shook her head. “I raised those boys for the first 16 and 10 years of their lives, respectively. I know them far better than you, I assure you,” she rolled her eyes at the comment about Damon sending Elizabeth to the boarding house, she should’ve expected it. “Yes, well, Damon needs to have some respect smacked into him and he’s delusional if he thinks he can stop me from acting like his mother the moment he gets home,” Lily may not have loved her sons for many years, but she’d be damned if she let them walk all over her like her husband had. She’d despised that man and she didn’t want to go the same way with Damon and Stefan.

“It’s not like I can stop you---” Well, she could, but what would be the point? “---So come in,” the vampire stepped out of the way, tilting her head to the side with a smirk that was quite reminiscent of her eldest son. “May I ask which one you’re sleeping with?” she asked innocently.
