Also just to specify - people who live in places where it gets *hot* like to brag about our ability to tolerate it because other people make fun of us for not being able to tolerate cold. It's stupid on both sides.

The way you survive extreme heat? Air conditioning. I'm not kidding. If you don't live in a house/place with cooling and airflow, find one. Go to a cooling center. Go see a movie. Go the beach, a pool, a lake, THE MALL. The local fast food place/cafe. If our power goes out here during the summer? I head for the mall. No question. If you don't have other options, SHADE/ ice water/fan, and lots and lots of ice and water is key. Don't go out "in the heat of the day" - stay in until the sun goes down. . Don't be a hero! Extreme heat isn't different than a blizzard, and don't let anyone shame you for it.

The reason American Southerners have the luxury of saying that 90 ain't that bad and it's not unbearable until it's 100 is 1) prolonged exposure to high temperatures over multiple decades 2) our mindset for these living conditions.

You don't have number 1, and you can't just acquire it, so I need you to adopt number 2 immediately. How do you live like a Southerner in the heat?

Don't be a hero.

Stay inside. Buy a box fan, put it next to a bucket of ice, and wrap your arms around it like a lover. Do not leave the shade under any circumstances. If a dude makes fun of you for getting out of the sun, don't get mad, just think of a funnier insult to call him while you flip him off and go stand under a tree.

Southerners love nothing more than to exaggerate and lie to each other. Like I think we got off on the wrong foot when you walked in on us saying things like "It was only 110, I didn't even take my damn jacket off" when really, last week it was 95 at 10 PM and we were on the bed buck nekkid in front of the fan moaning incoherently and praying to die. So yeah, we can take extreme heat. We also want you to think we can take ludicrous heat. You must learn to talk shit and then be a hypocrite and a coward in your actions, because this will serve you best.

It sounds like I am joking but I cannot express to you how much I am not. Do not fuck with Mother Nature, because that bitch will kill you. Take every opportunity to lower your body temperature and drink water, because that is what all of us in hot climates are doing all the time, and that is why we are not dead, even when it seems like we should be.

(And yeah, we do go through like two and a half ugly weeks in April every year where everyone wants to absolutely just goddamn drop dead because none of us have our heat tolerance back, but we must go to work anyway, which must be a crime. And yes, when it gets below 70 we really all do short circuit and cover ourselves in seven jackets, except for Shorts Guy.)

Interesting with Barbara Griz he wasn’t so aggressive during their Show down—in fact he reaches for her with a conflicted, yearning look on his face, then turns and leaps away. It absolutely parallels Demeter, and I didn’t see it with any of the other Grizabellas.

Munkustrap does look at her with pity for a good portion of the show. There is a History Here. (Also Barbara is Smol and Alex is Tol and it is extremely adorable)

The Demestrap PDA was pretty intense and hilarious tonight.

I mean it’s always there, but Anneke and Alex played it up to the nines

During Moments of Happiness when Munk goes to stretch out elegantly at the front of the stage he smolders at Demeter and slowlllly stretches his leg out. And Demeter gives him a look over her shoulder.

As Tugger is trying to convince everyone to give Misto a chance, they are TOTALLY MAKING OUT in the dark like DAMN you two get a room!

Sinisi Tugger and Aulerstrap are Gay Pirate Boyfriends. While Snova Tugger was a little jealous of Munk’s crush on Griddle, and Dominick’s Tugger had more of a crush than Munk, clearly both of them here have a thing for Griddle and they are 100% on board with that. Also it takes them ages to get Comfy in the Oven!!

After the show I put on my Big Girl Boots and grabbed people to take pictures of me with the kitties! I got to meet Anna Carina Buchegger and she is tiny (meaning MY height) and sweet and adorable and I put money in her box twice but there wasn’t really anyone to take pictures. BUT I jumped in with Matt Levick as Misto and pushed my phone into someone's hands. He’s surprisingly tall! (Or I should say normal height? I guess perpetually standing next to his Giant Boyfriend skews the perception 😂😂) Also the Mistoffelees costume is gorgeous! (I had to refrain from touching the sparklies but I really really wanted to)

AND George Maniadis (Alonzo) was in the lobby taking adorable pictures with small children and crouching down with them. So I nabbed an usher to take a picture and he did the lean over/head tilt thing and he was so sweet and AAAAAAA!!!

The costumes and the makeup and the wigs are stunning up close—very vibrant and deep contrasting colors.

quite frankly, I don’t want to yap on the post that contains these comments, but if you think “nobody’s saying don’t bring them home, I hope they die” is true, then you have not been paying attention and have spent no time in Jewish or Israeli spaces where we are bombarded by that exact phrasing and hatred, or even in the opposite pro-Hamas spaces where they say it proudly, since October 7th. the cheers of “kill the hostages” and much worse have been pervasive and incessant from day one. you have not seen the signs at rallies calling for them to be killed. you have not seen the fiendish glee after any of them have been murdered. their families have been begging for help and are broadly opposed to their government, desperately want a ceasefire, and feel utterly abandoned, and people have been dehumanizing them and ripping up pictures of their loved ones, and you still have the audacity to see it as “supporting genocide” when anyone cares about their suffering.

this one makes me much angrier. the posters were created by their families. the posters have been put up in many places in the diaspora by their family members, but yes, many have been put up by people who don’t know them personally - that is, the local Jewish communities. (who are being slandered here as “Zionists” and thus warmongers.) why has this been done? BECAUSE THEY ARE OUR PEOPLE. the utter inability to understand this underscores how non-Jews refuse to recognize that Jews are a connected group. it doesn’t matter that I’ve never met any of the hostages, that does not change the depth of my care or my grief for them, because there is an intrinsic connection.

that’s apparently impossible to grasp, so have these commentators who have no stakes in this conflict whatsoever never felt connection and kinship to others? “nothing but a symbol” wrong. they’re nothing but a symbol to you, and to you that symbol is evil. to you that symbol is oppression and death and a totally racist, gross distortion. THAT IS NOT WHAT THEY ARE TO US. THE HOSTAGES ARE US. again: those are our people! those are our people who you’ve seen fit to ignore, demonize, and justify harm against for 623 days while they’ve been tortured, starved, assaulted, and executed in rotting terror tunnels. what gives you permission to say ANYTHING about the worth of their lives?

how the hell do people not comprehend that if the international community had pressured Hamas to release the hostages unconditionally, immediately - people stolen from their homes that were burned to the ground as their neighbors were slaughtered, who were shot and blown up at a music festival, babies and elderly Holocaust survivors, peace activists who fought their whole lives for justice and reconciliation - the war would never have gotten this dire nor gone on for so long. what really makes me want to scream about this is the ones who are using real human lives as bargaining chips and symbols are the people fetishizing Palestinians and exploiting the war for their own self-righteous, selfish, often antisemitic ends. they do not see Palestinians as people. they do not see Israelis as people. they do not see Jews as people. they see this as some kind of game with a score that they have the right to tally, and dehumanization as their right to wield. how dare they speak of “propaganda” when they’re so lost in the quagmire of it that they see Jews trying to advocate for our loved ones’ lives and dismiss or denigrate it as symbolic violence?
