Joshua knew exactly what he was dealing with. 

…Well, “exactly” may be an exaggeration. But the music emanating from this person was incredible. 

It had been a long time since he’d heard something so chaotic, something so powerful, that wasn’t one of his own. Just what exactly was going on here? 

Naturally, instead of confronting him, Josh’s intent was to pass by him casually, and either allow him to do all the work, or simply follow him home and uncover everything about him by himself. 

He’s so glad the other didn’t make him do the latter. He really does hate to put in his own work. 

“Isn’t it customary to introduce yourself before you ask for the other party’s name? Really, if you’re going to call out to a stranger, at least try not to be rude about it.” 

He twirls his hair around his finger, debating whether or not giving an unknown being a hard time just for fun is a good idea. Especially one confident enough to enter his territory uninvited… 

“I suppose I can at least answer you, though. I am Yoshiya Kiryu… Though you can feel free to call me Joshua. Most do.”

He didn’t ask what he is, after all. 

“And yourself? You are going to return the favor, aren’t you?” 

“That’s not- That’s not what I meant and you know it-”

Urushihara already didn’t like this guy, but even he knew better than to not be at least cautious around an extremely powerful holy being. He may hold a decent amount of sway with lower level angels, but if the stranger was from Heaven then he was probably pretty frigging high up. 

At the same time, he was fairly sure he was infamous enough that even younger angels would know who he was. So who the hell was this guy?

“... Urushihara. I’m Urushihara. At least, that’s my name here.”

He was hoping the implication was enough to get this dude to quit playing around.

It wasn’t all that strange for Urushihara to sense magic around him in Japan. There was always the weak demonic auras from his roommates, and a stronger holy force from just next door. The power coming from Yusa, and even more so the child that was always with her, was a little distracting, but he had grown used to their holy presences. 

The random angels living across Tokyo were beyond irritating, but he knew them, at least. They weren’t completely unexpected.

The same could not be said for the stranger he just passed, only to be hit with the largest concentration of holy power he had felt since he left Heaven itself. Not even Alas Ramus measured up to this.

Twirling around to face the unknown being, Urushihara didn’t even bother trying to be polite about it.

“What the- who the hell are you?!”

Eyes seemed to ignite as those words were spoken. That hate drenched voice overwhelming a merry impression- 

“… I, Am a GOD. I WILL NOT ANSWER TO YOU.”

“A god? Is that supposed to scare me or something?”

Considering how low he was on any magic, demonic or holy, Urushihara probably shouldn’t have been mocking a divine force, but that was one thing he couldn’t resist.

“Defying God, uppercase ‘g’, is what I’m most well known for. I’m not gonna be threatened by some lowercase loser.”

[as both an extremely powerful angel, and an extremely powerful demon, urushihara is very in-tune to the supernatural in general, especially holy or demonic forces. if something vaguely magical happens within a few mile radius, he’s going to sense something, and often will be able to pinpoint what is going on. he can also differentiate human and nonhuman beings with ease]

A pause. 

“Pray tell, who do you think you are if you believe you can get information out of someone you have no clue about? Do you believe you have some sort of power over me..?”

“Wouldn’t believe you? That’s bull! I’m the one who pointed out you’re obviously not human to begin with! And as one of the Great Demon Generals and the former leader of the archangels, I think I do have some authority!”

.... Basically shouting his identity probably wasn’t smart, but Urushihara was getting to frustrated to even really realize he was being dumb.

there are multiple occasions where other characters acknowledge that he mostly acts up when he gets stressed out, he once panicked so badly about salesmen at the dor he just bought everything they had just so they would go away, and in the anime even was visibly extremely shaken whenever anyone got really close to him. this fallen angel is an anxious mess]
