Do you know what it’s like to see neighborhoods with businesses boarded up, many minority owned, spray painted with “KIDS LIVE HERE” “FAMILIES LIVING ABOVE” with arrows begging these outsiders who don’t know what neighborhood they’re in not to burn these places?
My heart is broken. I am so angry.
Uncle Hugo’s, the oldest independent science fiction bookstore in America & founded in 1974 with a book collection that’s literally irreplaceable was burned down. Of course that’s nothing compared to a life, but I mention it to showcase these are not fellow protestors and community members, these are people deliberately destroying this city.
This community has had to pivot their own fucking grief to protecting their neighborhoods and livelihoods.
My neighbor and I saw some sketchy looking fucks canvassing my street & those that live here know that 1) these buildings are historic brownstones, on a street with a senior living apartment building as well as a sober living facility & 2) on the other side of the block a huge social services org that feeds and shelters at risk people. Members of this community would not seek to destroy this place.
Here’s just a few examples

If you don’t live here, stay the fuck out of here. You’re destroying things you have no idea the significance of.

Looting and rioting are legitimate forms of protest. The businesses in Minneapolis/St. Paul will rebuild, and many business owners are on the same page with this.
Supplies stolen from a Target store that refused to sell to protesters were redistributed into the community. Since then, Target corporation has decided to donate supplies to the communities. Looting is not only legitimate; it is effectively.
Burning police buildings is good praxis. ACAB.
At this moment, many of the fires being set in the twin cities are the work of White Supremist and White Anarchist groups, who are targeting residential areas. Much of the current looting is being perpetuated by white suburbanites. These people need to go the fuck home. They are actively threatening and harming communities of color and delegitimizing both the peaceful protests and the justified riots.
I’m not downtown this time because I work with vulnerable populations, and in light of COVID, I can’t spend time in crowds. Please donate to George Floyd’s family, the MN freedom fund, and BLM if you can. My news is coming directly from live feeds of friends, and obviously the news is likely to change.

Be to her, Persephone,
All the things I might not be;
Take her head upon your knee.
She that was so proud and wild,
Flippant, arrogant and free,
She that had no need of me,
Is a little lonely child
Lost in Hell,—Persephone,
Take her head upon your knee;
Say to her, “My dear, my dear,
It is not so dreadful here.

“It’s not that I don’t want to be known as your lover…but there has to be a better word.”
“Girlfriend?” Hades supplied.
She couldn’t suppress the laugh that tore from her throat. Their relationship felt too intense, too passionate, too ancient for her to merely be his girlfriend.
But maybe that was just how she felt.
In a very short amount of time, she had fallen in love with the God of the Dead. She knew for certain he was the only person she would ever love. He was her eternity. He was her soulmate.
“What’s wrong with girlfriend?” He asked. He had not been amused by her outburst.
She frowned. She hadn’t expected him to challenge her so directly, but he was clearly offended.
“Nothing,” she said quickly. “It just seems so…insignificant.”
The tension eased from Hades’ features, and he drew his finger under her chin.
“Nothing is insignificant when it comes to you,” he said.

Greek mythology from A to Z:
[D] - Dionysus (Διόνυσος) was the god of fertility and wine, later considered a patron of the arts. He had a dual nature; on one hand, he brought joy and divine ecstasy; or he would bring brutal and blinding rage, thus reflecting the dual nature of wine.
